Hey welcome to the forum - yeah, don't sweat it...the Energi will be a killer of a car, you'l appreciate it and beat all of us regular CMax drivers in MPG for sure. As you have not got the car out yet, take some time to go thru some of the threads here especially the Fuel Mileage sections and you'll pick up why the CR reports, imo, are biased (as some posters have already pointed out earlier). Relax, and enjoy reading about your new car and wait till you drive her :)

Welcome to the forum...ssssshhh...according to CR, the 47 is not possible....sssshhhh.... ;) Hey, enjoy your new ride, DO NOT think about the mileage, its brand new and once you get over 3000 the warmer temps will be here and you'll be sweting cause you won't turn on the AC, lol. Then....go to the Lounge and take the Poll if you will buy the CMax again with the MPG. Did I sawy welcome....WELCOME

CNCGeek - similar method as prescribed here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/979-cruise-at-50-mpg/ Recapping summarily, under the EV threshold:1. Must have high battery level. 2. I use empower mode so I know where the EV threshold is. With high battery level, kick the ICE on so the white bar appears (you'll see the EV double bar) - then drop the ICE white bar down slowly to keep it just above the EV double bar. You have to feather the pedal and really concentrate cause you know how sensitive the pedal is - which is why I stated its so dangerous when you have 100% of your eyes glued to that gauge and the levels. Over 65mph, when the battery level is high, drop the ICE enough so that you maintain your speed and just cruise. On most level surface, I was able to get some ICE High MPGs and in some instances I could not, still toying with trying to figure out why though. Try it on your end and see how you go. I posted on the big mileage thread that I think it has to do with the higher battery level but at this time, I have no hard proof, just a conjecture so lets keep playing.... PS Today, I did another ICE high run on the 12 mile run as prescribed above and got 56MPG and temps were a tad higher at 78F so for my lil test run, it's pretty consistent. Got the photo but no time to post it up.

Ron - next time, take note of the battery level when that happens. My suspicion is that an-almost-fully charge battery level improves the ICE MPG performance even at higher speeds. Anything less than 80%, say 1/2, does not effect it as much.

If he had prefaced the review with "I did not drive this vehicle and here are my comments as a passenger" - that would have put a different light to it. To me, its not about his opinion on the vehicle, but don't pretend. He wrote some nice stuff on other vehicles so one can clearly assume he's driven it and he did not and shot up his own credibility. Kid, if you're watching this thread - be upfront on whether you drove the vehicle or not and let your readers know. And yeah, check your facts as well. Jumping from gear to gear, ssssh. Jus' sayin. Let's move on.... enuf :finger: , lets get back to the mileage :shift: I swear this forum needs a "ninja" emoticon.

Would you buy the CMax if the advertised MPG was below 47/47?
Jus-A-CMax replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Did anyone factor in insurance when they considered the CMax? I certainly didn't. Its interesting that as much as we like the other features of CMax, the majority still considered the MPG to be a major factor in their decision. Also, we may have 2 posters who would have picked the last options of NO but it seems like they never came back. Seems fishy, ala darrelld about the Venza poster. -
Added. Thanks MikeB and PWBarrett :)

Hey CNCGeek, can you get me the distance between the racks (preferable middle of rack to middle of rack) ? Trying to figure if my Jaguar (which is a Thule) box will fit. Thanks mate :) PS Luv your website, very cool indeed

I thought some of you who rip music into digital files might be interested in this mico USB drive that I found and am using - check it out, cause .... PROS: 1. Micro small. Never have to worry about banging into it. It looks fragile but it's not, pretty solid little usb. 2. Fits in the centre console usb port with no protrusion at all 3. Dirt cheap for a 16gb, more than plenty to store your music CONS: Could take a little while to figure out how to pull this sucker out cause theres basically nothing to grab onto - but I figured out using my fingernails, that works. About $16, details here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220753 No, I have no affiliation with newegg but I do shop there. Caveat: I've not tested this in summer temps - the hottest it has got in LA is about 90 but I think it will do OK. It's well insulated in the centre console. This is my music drive now, I got sick of using DoubleTwist with the bluetooth, plus it drains the phone battery unnecessarily. Its fast compared to our slow Sync, sometimes I swear they have got a 286 chip in the MFT...I wonder how many of you would remember the 286 and lets not go any earlier than that, lol.

I want to get one for my Max but having a hard time deciding whether to get the clear Ford one or like the one above. I think I am waiting to see if the clear one is as protective. In the meantime, I am super careful about not putting anything on the bumper (thanks for the hands free kick open Ford!)

Problem being is that when I get pulled over for granny driving on these CA roads, I have to open the back door to get my insurance and expose all the drugs I am smuggling.....oh...alternate universe, sorry... :redcard: PS I luv the idea of hiding the cash in the car and also the earthquake preparation kit, everyone on the West Coast need to be prepared. A few years ago, I had the LAFD do s CERT class here (Catastrophe Emergency Response Training) which was super useful and I got a ton of "what to do" booklets. Unfortunately, I do not have an electronic version of this booklet otherwise I would be more than happy to forward it to everyone - very informative and will save lives.

+1 I don't know what to fit in there either. If my wife wants to hide her purse, she buries it in the bigger compartment in the back.

Are there any FORD dealers aware of Low MPG problems?
Jus-A-CMax replied to ptjones's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
I think its a severe lack of knowledge about the car breakin and also about hybrid driving ie no hooning. For example, the Galpin service manager said a lady brought in the car with less than 100 on the odometer expecting 47 MPGs right off the bat. He had no reason to lie but no doubt that lady would be on the internet searching...then it becomes a herd mentality. So....sites like this serve an important purpose to educate and I think all up, we do a pretty good job showing that the 47MPG is not a whacky made up number from Ford, pictures and numbers don't lie. Also, that Venza poster has not been back - and that thread seems to be a magnet for all disgruntled CMax owners driving in the cold expecting 47MPGs because seriously, those of us blessed with the warmer weather have no problems getting real close or better and personally, if all I had to do was to drive my little 12 mile route all day, I could blow that 47 out of the water.- 20 replies

IMO, over here Sams Club and Costco are pretty much the same but what I am seeing is that Sams appear to be a "low end", for example, a box of oatmeal from Sams seems like a poorer grade than the same box at Costco with no price difference. Both of them are warehouse style shopping and things are larger and in bulk. Although lately, my wife has been shopping Food-for-less which seems to have the better priced food from the same brand companies, stuff like chicken thighs with bones etc.

Yeah but it's a republican state so its suppose to have low taxes....whats going on there? One of the reason why I picked up my Max before 2013 was to beat the tax rise and I totally agree...jumping from 8.25% to 9% is a lot of beer there...jus' sayin. Also we have no HEB but we have Costco...that is one place we luv to shop, especially their travel, we had such a nice rental place in the Big Island, Hawaii for dirt, dirt cheap and it included a car as well in the deal (speaking of which go check out the HI posting in my M2 thread)...especially the moon rise ;)

I didn't think it was possble - chicken fried bacon...that would be yummmy  -
Wow, your taxes are higher than our CA taxes (9% in Los Angeles county - it was 8.25% for a short time until the low info, numnutz voters decided to up their tax rates for the CTA unions...oops...I meant to say children) but there is no taxes on unprocessed food. Sometimes I shop in the Simi Valley Costco cause I practically drive past it every day and save a little there due to their slightly lower rate in that county...it all counts to the beer. So they tax the unprocessed (fresh) food there in LA? Yeah, once you get your car, you'll probably save on the gas driving there....
