Ha...because of the Queen, Canadians and Aussies tend to be like peas in a pod, except when we're at sports when we have no hesitation beating each other up for a few pieces of metal. Good to hear Auntie Jenn is flying the Aussie flag high, she sounds like a great vet. I wish we had one here that doesn't charge like a wounded bull, we got 2 lovely Toygers.

Laurel - I am stunned, luv that post. I also have Dire Straits and a few large directories of Australian pop-music from the 80s and 90s, well, I am from there so thats a big shocker. This was the music I grew up with and as much as I like my JAMMY playlists, I do have to go back to my roots on occassions. Dire Straits - the Alchemy album is one of the best ever live music albums - if you are into guitar (not as upfront as Hendrix though). Hmmh...is this thread turning into a default music thread....very cool :) PS I think I know your secret sauce to how great Tip has been driving - it's the music.... ;)

No, just a regular SEL CMax (see my Mammoth thread for photos of the vehicle). You can see my odometer in the picture, I am telling you, I am seeing a lot of improvements with each 1K clicking over. It also helps Los Angeles is having 65-75 temps at the moment. Also, I'll disclose I use premium and 43 psi tires.

Lets see what Jus has in his youtube mix bag..... Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops DJ BLK remixed (crank this up with a subwoofer ala play in Max LOUD) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD_sCiicVdM This POP DANTHOLOGY is brilliant, see the video - it's a brilliant remix. Nice wamba, I am thinking of this one as well as it's clear vs the gray plastic that the others are using. Is this plastic thick? -

Model 2014 CMax will also be noted as they inherit additional aerodynamic and FE improvements as provided by Ford Motor Company as "stock". No "recalculation" of the mileages are permitted based on GPS or otherwise. :shift: Now, some of you may ask what about freeway driving or city driving since mileage can vary so much - to which I say, just declare what fwy/city driving for this tank. It's all approximate anyway and if you clock more than 600 plus on all city driving, good for you cause you just saved a whole ton of gas as the bottom line. Lets make this FUN as we have a very fun car to drive and all of us like to tinker and CMAX up our mileage. By the way, my word of advice for those who want to try this out - carry a extra fuel in a container, just in case. I know I am going to... ;) ptjones (896.2/639 EV using 13.77 gallons and 65 MPG), member since 01/23/2013 [Aeromodded with Grill Covers & Gas Pods]

IMO, CR has lost credibility. Just luv the way they still carry on about the Prius, ignore what they tested, slamming the CMax...reflective of the way the press have been going these past 6 years where the word "bias" is scrubbed away, completely in the tank. Jus sayin' :waiting:

Adair - I heard there was a brutal cold front going eastward now. I know exactly what you mean, I saw this myself as I was driving from Crowley Lake to Mammoth town where it was 0, -4F, -0, -2F. I recall that time I was using P&G but the glide part was like glue on the tires, little roll. EV, what EV - the cold sucks out any power in that mode. I was practically ICE on all the way and I did not know about the ICE High Mode, only see saw it but did not put 1+1 together with the battery. I think and someone may prove me right or wrong, that battery has more influence on the ICE than we think to a point where its not worth dropping the batt levels below 1/2 but rather to keep it as high as possible. Which is why, if you notice in eco-cruise, the batts do not drain all the way, its usually in the middle. Ford engineers have designed the software around keeping it at mid level as a compromise btwn performance of ICE & EV mode. Jus my observations. Good to hear the ICE High MPG mode is working for you but please be careful, its difficult to drive in that mode where you need to keep an eye on that white bar in empower mode (at least for me). Yes, spring is coming around the corner, get past Superbowl and hang in there!!!!!

I only started using playlists with Max. Otherwise, I am like you, I don't need it. With Max, playlists are the way to go. I got one dance directory with tons of mp3 and a few playlists that it runs from. The MFT "Album" is all messed up since MFT indexes everything so I never use it. I'm still trying to work out which is voice-controllable and which is not. Just got to find time to do it all. PS Yeah, so if you see a White Platinum SEL CMax coming down the street stealthy but the driver has "Body Shots" blaring out of his window, that would be me. Run :runaway:

You're welcome! Feel free to snap the pics next time and post'em up here. For 8 miles, I am sure you can EV it all the way but you gotta have that battery high to start otherwise it's P&G. I did an 8 mile run from North Hollywood to Burbank and got something like 60+MPG with zero gallons (according to the Trip Summary) although - get this - I am sure I burnt some has with P&G in spots. Must have been miniscule...I got the pic of that somewhere.

Thanks dtorres, whats on your odo now? I think the warmer weather really helps...also I'll throw in some hybrid drivers ed in there as well. I like the fact that 1/2 of the trip was on EV consistently there and back...schweet!!!! PS I know that route, get off and get some food in Chinatown while you're there ;) -

I use to run down the battery as much as possible and I am finding that anything below 30%, the output you get does not really contribute that much to cruising and it takes forever to recharge back to the middle. You'll get more by having the battery level above 75% and not letting it drop below 50%, imo. I did a thread on eco-cruise vs p&g vs ICE high (here) and when the batteries are up above 80% (even possibly 90%), ICE seems to be more efficient with > 40MPG vs 20MPG. I don't know what mode to call this but I am going with "ICE High MPG" mode. Also, I think a high (almost full) battery level really helps with the high speed cruising - which something I noticed but I am still trying to re-create it as its hard to keep a really high battery unless you go a continuous ICE without going overboard and starting a discharge. Feather the pedal. Yeah....I agree it is a lot of work, sometimes dangerous as its a distraction to watch the gauge so throw the car into eco-cruise mode where it does a pretty good job imo. You can manage eco-cruise to kick it into EV when you know theres a downslope coming up using the on/off pedal (a great tip from CMax Jaxon). Keep testing and post your findings here, good stuff.

Who says it can't be done-Post Highs here-over 25 miles traveled
Jus-A-CMax replied to salprint's topic in Fuel Mileage
And this is a much longer run today, just over 102 miles return....from my home to Ventura and then back again. Its been nice here in Los Angeles, temps in the 65F to 75F and no Santa Anas today, just a light breeze so no advantage. I reset my Trip 2 just before I left and you can see the temps on the gauge. Below shows the run from my home to the Telephone Rd in Ventura. 210 to 118 to Los Angeles Ave. For those not in the know, 210 and 118 are freeways and Los Angeles Ave is a single lane thru mostly farmlands with speed from 45 to 55. Mostly flat all along Los Angeles while the 118 has a couple of mountains to climb: Coming back, it was a little cooler. What goes down must come up: So yeah, 47MPG Is not remotely possible per Consumer Report.... :finger: Not. -
Great advice JulieB. I've updated my post to remove my comments since they serve no purpose lingering there but left the car picture - it adds color to this thread :) Now, lets go back to playing with real cars... :shift: PS Kid, the changes look much better and give the reader some much need perspective of your review.

But at least they disclosed the temperature. That's consistent with what I was getting driving to Mammoth in the cold so no quams there.
