  1. There are a ton of good leather cleaners and care kits. For me personally, I use Connolly leather cleaner and then use the Connolly Hide Care to finish it off. Its more work than an all in one cleaner but it comes highly recommended and I use it on all of my 3 Jaguars and now my Max. I would do this about once a year, unless the seats are super dirty. Also recommend using a toothbrush to get at the seems. The leather care lasts forever as u have to mix it and u don't use that much mixed stuff anyway.
  2. Hey thanks for the update on the accident, will say a prayer for the brain injured jogger...thats pure heart break there. Hopefully the press is more free over there and nail this SOB. That just infuriates me, as bad as Benghazi. I use to think LA was bad but it sounds like you take the cake for now. Anyway, I am off to grab some Chinese food in Max, should be another 50+MPG run here (sssssshhhhh don't tell that to these websites cause I didn't get the memo that our Maxs can't do anything above 40....sssssshhh).
  3. Ugh, thanks for the info guys. I'll checkout the drcolorchip as well. At this time, they're all minor nicks so its paint fill, sand, seal and wax. No major job yet. I looked at the Oxford White and it looks crap next to the Platinum so I guess I have to live with my decision.
  4. That is sad. They will catch that person, there's damage done so the investigators can track that with the repair shops and that person is going to jail. I hope the 2 joggers survived? I really hate that as I run so I know the dangers of running on roads or near them. When the prices were peaking here, it was great....let me tell you why...cause the freeways and roads were suddenly free of cars. Our 405 is a north south that runs from the San Fernando to the west vallley, bevery hills, santa monica and it's the highway from hell at peak hours. If you did 5mph going up or down that hill, you were speeding and did it feel good to suddenly be able to drive at "normal" speeds up and down that hill. Woohoo...but now, alas.
  5. Just fixed about 3 nicks using the Ford supplied touch up paint - no way in the world is the paint a close match. For starters, the Platinum White has sparkles in it. this paint has none. So my question is - are there any other Platinum White owners out there thats found an alternative touch up paint that is closer to the color of the car? PS the touch up paint was free so I can't exactly throw it back at my dealer.
  6. $4.77!!! Thats about how much it peaked here in the last "we're out of gas" fiasco a few months ago. I swear, if it ain't the govt, its the greenies or the oil companies that are giving us all the r*ctal job....just sayin! :banghead:
  7. Good stuff....by the way, is the cat :wub2: it too, Catsmobile? Put the cruise on going back next time. It could be you're heading upslope on the way back. Like I said, I am seeing lots of up and downhill "flats" now that I am driving a hybrid.
  8. Not here ins SoCal, its hovering around $3.65 premium, 20c less for regular. Gas was $1.85 before the regime change...just sayin! that's all... :sos:
  9. mtberman - remember, Toyotas are known for their quality as well, so sorry you had to go thru that and thankful it worked out for you (abliet feeling sorry for the poor soul that bought that car after you). Lemons are everywhere and as much as the public and internet luv to pin Ford lemons on the boards and shout "LEMON" - it happens to every manufacturer. We owned a 2004 Jaguar XJ8 - brand new in the series with the aluminium body, great car but it was in the shop 20+ times. My wife luved the car so much we didn't lemon it but it had electronic issues which we actually helped Jaguar track down. My last 2007 Jaguar Vanden Plas experienced a severe electronic issue just after I bought it and I was in the middle of wine country to share the car with some close friends and it was an embarrassment. Again, it was fixed and it's been a totally awesome car since then, and thankfully, wasn't a lemon.
  10. If you had stated the fact that your 2013 Fusion hybrid are having some engine issues, that would explain why its not getting the mileage. Having said that, I don't yet think this is reflective and damning of all CMaxs and 13 Fusion Hyrbids as there are plenty of drivers here who are getting improving MPGs above 40+. IMO, I think these low MPGs are a combination of factors including new vehicles with engine still breaking in, winter conditions and winter fuel formula and driving habits not conducive to the batteries and hybrids in general. I hope Ford resolves your issues for you soon and yeah, I would be p*ssed too if I had the same issues, good luck and best wishes.
  11. hey darrelld, mix in a picture of Mr Miyagi with that saying, thanks for the laughs. valkraider - +1. spot on.
  12. Heres a longer run: 51MPGs. San Fernando valley to Redondo Beach, California, off to a New Years Eve party. Temperature was 47F and 90% manual with a low eco-cruise set. Speed 60-68mph. Route: 210 to 118 to 405 and off at Redondo Beach.
  13. Recycling from another thread - 74.4MPGs and I included the route map below. This was a run from Encino Hills to North Hollywood mid valley. Here's the route: It's downhill from A to the Ventura and then it's "allegedly" flat from Ventura Blvd to B. Personally, I was stunned by the reading. Mind you, I had a full battery by the time I got to Ventura so there must be something there to push this car along to those mileage. Typically my batts are mid to low level.
  14. I read this article this morning on another site, infact, that particular poster also posted 2 other negative recent articles, site shall remain nameless. Now, even if this car only does a mid 30 MPG, I will still buy this car again cause it's FREAKING GREAT!!!!!!!!!! So many positive features, great design and thought - no way in the world would I ever buy the competition especially after personally driving it, I don't care if it does 100MPG. Oh...it does 7.5sec 0-60....hmmmh.
  15. kechair, you can do an elongated pulse and glide. What I do in that situation is to let the batts go low as possible and then let the ICE automatically kicks in and slowly accelerate to your peak pulse speed and let it glide down. This does 2 things: it allows the charge up of the batts in the pulse phase. I noticed charging in my car is only possible by slowly accelerating and then the glide phase you are also charging up the batts. Versus hard acceleration which means zero charge up to the pulse speed. If you get tired of the P&G, just throw it into the eco-cruise at 60mph.
  16. That yahoo article is a hoot. His CMax was fully loaded and juice sucking and expecting a high MPG? I did a full loaded drive 580mile roundtrip (temps snowing 27-37F), see my article here "Let is now, let is now", wind etc and I got 33.6 out of it with mostly uphill. Coming back it was 41, average 36.8MPG and thats at 1600 miles on the odo. Mind you, Max sucked almost a gallon just climbing an 18 mile stretch up a mountain to about 7000 ft (Bishop to Tom's Place).
  17. I only use the eco-cruise for uphill or when I am tired of the eco game. Now, P&G would work with the eco on. Say you set the eco cruise for 60mph. You can pulse up to say 68 and let it glide down to 63, kick in the EV as long as possible and then once the batt juice runs out, let the eco-cruise kick in and repeat. The only oddity I found was driving up hill with the same eco cruise setting but on the glide component (still going up hill), eco-cruise still kicked in the ICE part even at speeds more than the cruise threshold. I could not do full EV uphill unless I turned off the cruise. I called it odd but there must be a purpose to this which I have yet to understand but now that I know it's there, I'll work around it.
  18. Anyone know how to create more albums on this website, or are we only allowed 1 album per member?
  19. From the album: C-Max at Mammoth

That's about my best run on MPG to date.
  20. From the album: C-Max at Mammoth

Trip summary from driving back from Redondo Beach to San Fernando. Temperature was cold at 37F all the way. Manual and eco-cruise. Speed 58-65mph.
  21. My experience with eco is that it tends to stay out of EV than it does in EV, unless, the gradient is downhill. Also, I've had instances where I set the eco to 58mph, then I fang up the hill to say 67 and at around 63-62 when it should go into EV as I was intending to keep it there, eco cruise still has the ICE on mixed with the EV. I have to turn off the cruise and then I can keep some uphill EV to burn some battery. All of this is on the slow right lane of course.
  22. Don't have a choice, DMV rules says we have to have the front plate. How easy or hard is it to cut that plastic around the plate?
