  1. Thats what I said too....too funny. Great review, thanks for the links!
  2. So yesterday, I decide to really fang the car, going up to 75-85 over some moderately hilly terrain. For once, passing all those Prius. For those who really want to know, it was a run from Newbury Park (Wendy) to Calabasas on the 101. Max performed brilliantly, lots and lots of power for a lil guy but I thought I was s*cking too much gas but when I finally got to Calabasas, the overall MPGs were above 40 surprisingly, I wished I had taken a photo. So, who's everyone doing by fanging the CMax instead of babying it, any great loss in MPG? I did a consistent 65mph with eco cruise over 30+ miles and I got 40MPG out of it. Perhaps, fanging the car would not be that BAD of an idea instead of babying it for MPG's sake. Curious to see your thoughts....
  3. Dude, I think not all CHP has this memo. 2 seasons ago. I was driving 68 - yes 68 - and got pulled over before Bishop. Not even 70 but 68. I was left off with a warning. That 395 is an a$$hole to drive with tons of CHP and yet I see lunatics go at 90+.
  4. Watching this thread, I am in the same boat with this contrasting MPGs with fuelly and CMax reporting. I do keep Trip 1 reset after each fuel up so I might take a gander when I have time as well.
  5. Mine is at 44 or 42. Fuelly says something while my Lifetime says another. Go figure, I just give up.
  6. 2 kicks here. One to unlock and 1 to open. I can't get 1 kick to open unless it was unlocked beforehand. Laurel, you have a special CMax ;)
  7. ECO cruise is great. Set it to the lowest cruise speed eg. 58mph and then use P&G to shoot up to 65 and EV glide as long as you can.If you run out of patience or batteries, let it go to eco cruise to recharge. I luv it.
  8. Crap guys...I got an ear full for driving my wife to a Chrismas Party in my Max - got labelled a "Prius" driver cause I was doing 60mph and EVing it out. Go the speed limit she yelled. F*ck-a-doodle-doo....
  9. I need to get one of 'em electric buffers. I swear after 3 rounds of going around the whole car, I was pooped and ready for a couple of beers. That Klasse acrylic paint sealant is the best but its a biiioooooch to get off if laid in too thick, worse than wax.
  10. Spot on. I tried that last night when I gave the keys to my wife to walk into a party and I went out to check the car. Pffffff.....c;mon Ford, this was one thing you could have stolen from the Jaguar XF when you owned it - a very nice to have and convenient feature. Lesson learnt. So yeah, I agree with the other posters: for locked car - 1 kick to unlock and then 1 more kick to open the gate. I can live with that now that I know whats going on. Someone start an FAQ for this car, please....
  11. truedat but officially, its 65MPH, I don't think DMV or CHP will be too happy if all the manufacturers started posting mileage at 70mph (unless everyone who drives a car lived between Lancaster and Mojave) or wherever the legal 70MPH signs are.
  12. So this is interesting. I went to Costco & Best Buy this afternoon. Parked the car. 1. Got out of the car, didn't lock it at all and just walked to Best Buy. Checked out a few things and came back to the car. One kick and the talilgate opened. Sweet. 2. Locked the car with the remote this time, pressing it twice to hear a beep. Walked to Costco. This time I brought back stuff with both hands full, cool, time to test the tail gate. One kick - unlock only. 2nd kick needed to open it. Now, the only thing I did different is that the first case, I didn't bother to lock the car, using the proximity mechanism to lock it, but the second cae I did manully press the lock button. May be this is why we get 1 or 2 kicks. Can anyone else replicate this or is my Max just weird? PS I presume by walking away, the Max automatically locks. Hmmh...I never tested this.
  13. I would luv the front windows tinted, that would be so cool but these eggheads here in California has banned any tinting on the front windows.
  14. :runaway: ... that was the year I was born.... :baby: PS this was the 3rd time I had to edit the post, for some d*mba$$ reason this board won't take the 2 above lines in a single sentence. Must be me.
  15. Something light hearted....so where will you be when the Mayan Calendar ends on 12/21/12? Ok, I'll start, I will be boarding at Mammoth Mountain with my wife, full loaded with my hip flask and Max is nearby incase we need to scoot. Oh and .... :spend:, Merry Christmas everyone!
  16. Ouch, sorry to hear about that. This is one of the reason why we continue to stick with our Motor company, Galpin Jaguar & Galpin Ford, they have OUTSTANDING service which is why our Max is the 4th car from them and plus, being old customers, we had a sensation deal without the X-Plan either, infact, beating it. Find a good Ford dealer is crucial and I hope your issues are worked out, that just totally s*cked and very unprofessional. Or take them to the small claims court and let them answer infront of a judge.
  17. EV+ is off by default, I remember i had to turn it on (unless the dealer did something there before i got delivery of it). Also, I don't know about you guys but my batts are typically 1/3 low when in EV+ mode, being where I live I have to climb up a gentle 100 feet hill so pulsing and gliding is worthy here, as versus a steady constant pressure on the pedal.
  18. Well, thats why most of us use fuelly.com to track actual odo miles with how many gallons we fuel up. I agree with MSmith1915, theres too many factors here. I've had 1 fuel up only but thus far it gells. Also, as usual if there is suspicion about the mileage code, someone will inevitable hack the code and expose, for example ford, GM, toyota or whoever, now wouldn't that be a major, major scandal worthy of a haxor?
  19. Interesting indeed. As I said somewhere before, the real world expectation of 47MPG highway is at 65MPH. At least I did, so did my wife and if we sometimes get stuck in traffic ala 405 up to Sunset Blvd hill, then thats a bonus for an electric car. Right now, I have to concede personally, I am not seeing 47MPG at 65mph steady and this is after slowing right down from 70mph in my prior ICE car. If anything, my bone to pick is the 35MPG city is BS, this car is optimized 25-55mph for sure, so 47+MPG is my real world experience here.
  20. The article sounds like there were tons of Energis available. However, from my real world experiences - the Energi is rare here in Los Angeles. None at Galpin, which is one of the biggest Ford sellers in the San Fernando valley. As I said, my dealer said they are not expecting Energis until late Jan or early Feb so I picked up the regular CMax instead.
  21. Thanks stranger267, fantastic tips there! Using eco-cruise uphill, there is zero EV use so to optimize, it has to be manual. So lets see if I understand you uphill driving technique right for our CMax, throwing in something I am seeing as well: 1. Set the eco-cruise to 55mph. This is base where the car will take over if the driver gets lazy. 2. Manually, feather the trottle so the speed is then above 55 and under 63MPH, in the EV "use" range. 3. Pulse and EV glide. Did I understand this right? Or perhaps try a higher speed range? Oh....Temps were low 47F-53F (freezing for us Angelinos) and approximately 60% Highway with highway speeds around 55-60mph:
  22. I like this idea. Will it happen, probably not. I think most people when they say see the Highway MPG on the sticker, a majority would assume a steady 65mph uncongested. I did.
  23. I know, but I had a "decent" branded one and the thread started self destructing leave little black pieces all over my old car, it was disgusting. Lets keep this thread going, I am sure I am not the only one looking for a decent fairly priced sunshade. Costco used to have them but unfortunately these CMax windows are HUGE and they did not fit.
