  1. Rode with this beauty along Foothill on my way home. I think he was EVing too...we weren't going too fast... Nice to see more CMaxs out there, been too long where I was the only adopter. That Candy Blue sure looked pretty :)
  2. Brother Mike - I've used only ONE tank of regular and I have been using Costco Premium since then. Even the Indian gas that I get is also Premium. It's a long debate if this change is gas does or DOES NOT but no one can take away my opinion & experience that it does make a difference in my tank, after tank of > 600+ miles per tank I clocked up. I more than make up the extra :spend: for remium....but for the doubters, :airquote: who am I, and wadda I know? :baby: Good stuff Brother Mike  Alright everyone back to the OT, I am sure the time change is not making Brother MIke's car better MPG, or does it ;)
  3. Crap, now I have 1 less hr to hypermile before it gets too dark ;)
  4. Traditionally, the power wheels are the one with the cables/chains - as they have to apply the power to the ground and you want traction and not spin. CMax is a front wheel drive car so I opt for the front only. The best is for all 4 wheels to have cable for best traction but in all my life driving in snowy conditions with the CMax and prior cars, I have never, ever needed chains that bad. On my Jaguar, it was the back, on my Camry, it was the front. At the end of the day, how you apply & manage your brakes and also how you control the speed is what will mean you go up the snowy banks or keeping the car with traction on the road. Don't be tempted to speed like the lunatics on the left. By the way, black ice is the worst of the worst. No chains/cables will save you then. Usually under bridges - be super careful. Stay safe :)
  5. The GPS was fine on the drive back today as well. Same route....
  6. lol, I was thinking that the GPS card was the actual module itself ala graphics card in a desktop/laptop. I know where the A4 card is, me bad for misinterpreting. So Nick, did yours reboot immediately, or did you fiddle with the A4 card, or did u just let the CMax sit and it reset like mine did, this morning?
  7. lol...A4 is fine for now. Once I am done upgrading my golf clubs, I will go to A5 ;)
  8. Frank - glad to hear this isn't a "Jus-A-Special" for me....hey, where is the GPS card that you can insert or pull out yourself? Or is that in some manual? I did not see any link on that "trick or treat" but I have adguards running ;)
  9. No, if there is a problem, it would be heard. Like any snow chains/cables, keep your speed at 35mph or under. The only issue is the clearance to take them off. I barely put them on with my mid sized hands but I need the wife to get her hands to take them off because of the residual snow/slush/ice. I recommend the low profile Z cables as well and definitely NOT chains. You're welcome. No issue with the CMax in the snow. I would suggest full grill covers to assist with the warmup cycle though.
  10. No bump afaik. I did that - pulled out the A4 card, my usb drive and did a Master Reset and re-inserted them both back when it was fully up. Even switched the car off for a short time afterward and it still did not work. lol, I didn't thnk of that....
  11. Its a balance between power & MPG and how you drive the CMax. My CMax, I consistently get 61-66MPG City driving. With this tank, I hit the camping, loaded it up to the ceiling and got 48MPG return on a 207 mile round trip, WITH AC on and all freeway/highway driving. It used 4.31 gallons. Right now, I am at 11.99 gallons used and poised to break 700 miles bar. I hope to finish the tank at 770+ miles, all city driving. No too shabby when 4.31 gallons was used for camping :victory: I wonder what I would do in a Prius but I do know, that s*cker won't climb the Pass like the CMax or carry the load unless it was a V. Enjoy your cars and make as much hay as you can with it :)
  12. Hey thanks P3G and DD and the goodnews is that the GPS booted fine this morning and appear to be functioning correctly :yahoo: This is SO weird. How can letting a car sit, reset the GPS? It was not a hot day yesterday, temp was probably mid 70s, nothing out of the ordinary on the drive, no bump or hard braking that I can recollect that may have move or dislodge module or wire. Far out. Now this has me thinking about an extended warranty and I need to find the cost from Galpin unless you guys recommend something else. I need to find this fuse for the GPS, if it exists later today.
  13. So driving back tonight, everything was literally rolling along and then I noticed this lovely screen: I pulled over restarted the car - nothing. I did a Master Reset of the MFT - nothing. This GPS was replaced early on by Galpin because it would show me driving on houses. mountains. However, not once has it played up since it was replaced. So...my question: Maxine is at 37,000, Jus out of warranty but does this also include the GPS out of warranty too? I'll cross my fingers tomorrow it may "boot up" but I am not confident. This blows.
  14. ...its mine as well. All these young grasshoppers ;)
  15. ..he'll be a 700 baby real soon, then the 800 and then the 900 and then.... :worship:
  16. ...not if the other car is a Jaguar ;)
  17. Welcome to the CMax family :) Glad to hear you have your kids becoming part of the drive  The only maintenance is the oild change at every 10K, keep the tire pressure up. I run 51 psi myself and most of us hypermilers do that. Yeah, it's a lil rougher but BOY does she roll much better. Maxine (SEL) has 37K on it right now, everything smooth sailing with her. I can't think of a more trouble free vehicle that gives such awesome mileage. Stick around, go snoop in the various sub-sections of this forums - there are certainly LOTS of useful information to be had, and most of all, go :shift: the car and enjoy her.
  18. Well done kostby!!! You are SO FIRED from Toaster Review.org where they buy their OWN toasters to prove that are impartial ;) I think this and the 600 thread just proves in REAL WORLD driving that the CMax is capable of > 47 original EPA -IF- the driver has enough braincell to understand the CMax and how she drives :victory:
  19. Funny enuf, I have bought the Samsung Plasma about a year ago. Very pleased with it and the main reason for the purchase was its black and plasma refresh rates vs LCD. It's really nice and I can't complain. So the Toaster Review company is now a potentially TV review company. Wow, with their writers knowing which remote button to press and what HDMI stands for, they may yet replace those blind squirrels and company issued lead boots  there in the Car department.... :baby:
  20. Drop the attitude ger, there is no need for it. You'll find members here answering your questions if they were nicer otherwise you'll make their IGNORE list and get nowhere with your questions. Now...to answer your question, I carry a spare and at my rate I can run 60 miles on this gallon and I have NOT run out of gas for sometime now, even at my 901 mile one. I also carry supplies in the car lest the ground shake, this is LA. Plus in reality, no one will be going fast especially after the big one hits, not with the potentially collapsed bridges, cracked roads etc.
  21. Everyone - its Rachel that is taking care of biz now. Thanks Rachel :)
