  1. Thats what I fear as well....that foam that use inside is not water resistant as far as I can tell. Won't be surprise if the rusting begins there...
  2. ...thats it for me, I should retire too. No more Adam Scott hurrahs from Laurel...
  3. Jus don't wait till the rains come in...thats jus asking for a biology experiment in your CMax. It's nutz here with the leaves, seeds and all...I was surprised how much junk I cleaned out. Personally, this was a big miss as its really hard to remove the junk out of that spot without long nose pliers or a vacuum...hence, don't get it wet. I'll start looking for some heat resistant foam pads to fill out that area...there must be some way.
  4. 1. To lift your hood 2. Right near the front windscreen, you'll see some gaps... 3. ...and its time to vacuum all the leaves, barks, and seeds that has somehow miraclously all gather there. I pull out like 1/4 bucket ful before I vacuumed the rest. I have to park under neath trees at work to keep the car cool in the 100+ valley heat. For you ole CMax folks, you know this already...(if you recall that pretty beetle I found). For you new folks, time to get started...unless you don't park underneath trees etc. Cheers :)
  5. @shinytop - thanks offering your services, very nice gesture indeed @Nvstig8tr - you need 4 more posts to turn on the PM function. Unfortunately, that is a requirement of the Board as spam control. 4 posts is dead easy, Theres so much topics here. Also make sure you get the Nav card and its at least "A4" version. Latest is A5 but that costs money since Ford is not offering it as a free upgrade to the existing owners. Its crap, I know.
  6. Old issue --> refer to this thread stickied in the Infotainment section: Nav GPS TSB 13-3-11 - Fix for unable to locate vehicle, etc Get dealer to apply the TSBs, if that does not work then its the GPS module - they have to replace it. We are pretty sure there are some bad batches of GPS modules, I had one bad one - and once Galpin Ford replaced - its been sweet since. So did Arizona Energi. No rubberbanding or driving on top of houses, along the beach, along the mountain side (yeah, I know some of you here probably say I do that anyway...lol).
  7. Theres more CMaxs now. Infact, there is one SEL in the same parking lot as me, this "she" works for the same company - gets there before I do and still there when I leave. No big deal, move on. I see more CMax on the road, none of the drivers bother - waving? Sssh....you a weirdo? ...but I have yet to converse with another actual CMax owner. I did converse with a couple thinking about buying a CMax at the golf range . Anyway, I'll mind my own business and ramp up my MPGs in my wee little car...& if someone wants to talk CMax with me, I'm cool with that, if not, I'll EV along....
  8. :congrats: you're up a few seats. :)
  9. Adapt. Even if you start the car in EV from 0 to 10 and then kick in ICE, that would save you gas. Also, big SUVs make wonderful wind breakers, go with the flow and kick in JUS enuf EV to maintain the speed and stay behind them at a safe distance. Since the gas prices here have dropped down to $3.90 theres been a TON of traffic and SUVs on the roads now, hooning away...so might as well make use of these gas pigs. Sometimes, I accelerate 3 or 4 bars especially on high SOC, rather than waste more gas trying to recharge...(this is not in my hints yet) - reason being the car will give you more energy from the batts to help accelerate and cutting down the gas. Once you're at speed, glide for a wee bit and kick in the EV...don't worry if you don't get it and its a challenge. I've had my car since Dec 2012, it jus takes time....you're good if you hang around enuf here :)
  10. Jus come down here to SoCal Brother Jus and I will teach you about Maxus - you didn't even know....
  11. Nick - please do something about these high MPG numbers these CMax drivers are reporting! It is not possible. This is a 37MPG car accoridng to Consumer Reports! NOT POSSIBLE! 45.1 mpg averaging 70 mph - yeah right! - where are all the Consumer Report advocates? Why aren't you supporting your magazine's findings?!?!? *puff* *puff* ...is my CR check here yet *puf*....ph this sshhhiiiiieeeze is goood....*puf*
  12. AC will kill your MPG...but its better to enjoy the car than to sweat it, imho. But we are different people. I think you jus need some Jus-A-CMax driving lesson. Route selection is also critical in 2 ways: lights and traffic. Both are MPG killers. As well, pressure from back traffic will lead to a lead foot. So many factors...but it is a FUN game. As I told my friend who teaches people how to drive the SCCA cars - you can drive fast but can you max your MPG?
  13. ....hmmh, great point Brother Mike. So do I ;)
  14. I think its the best looking CMax, period. Brother Mike, you may not get the most MPGb ut you are STYLING!!!! :congrats:
  15. Cool, welcome to the :airquote: other CMax Club ;)
  16. Have you tried the "Change Theme" down the bottom left and "tick" the Board 2.0.3 Platinum? I didn't do anything but I did change my Theme to that...try it.
  17. The only time I saw this was climbing miles of steep grades with a grill cover. ICE was hot so it was legit. Now, not sure how you can get this without even STARTING the ICE motor - sounds like a fault temp sensor. Ask the dealer especially about that sensor. Also, I've not seen this issue being reported here yet, you are the first. Please keep us up to date. Curious, for sure...
  18. Nice Brother Mike! I can't believe these posters don't :airquote: like the post #1 more...tough crowd....so I hit u good :)
  19. :congrats: Post #1 updated. Welcome to the 800 bar where the caviar & champagne is flowing with our latest achievement.... :) ps watch the tab (if I were u :victory: )
  20. Drafting...its inevitable to get those chips on the windscreen, I scored a couple. Also you leave yourself open to :airquote: el-weirdo truckies - one started acting the fool by slowing down to a ridiculous 45 mph on a 70 mph freeway because I was drafting him and I recall I wasn't even as close. Other than that, they are pretty good. Now manual vs eco = Manual would win but you're working hard at it. I've done > 500 miles manual and it was not a HUGE difference at the end - something stupid like 3 MPG difference at end. Thats say 43MPG > 500 miles vs 47MPG. The smart thing to do is to know when to call which drive mode - eco, manual, and when to BLIP.....you young grasshoppers :baby:
  21. ...the way I see it, the more MPGs I get (and I'll show it one day), the more money I save and the more beers I can enjoy ;) Golf is way harder than hypermiling. If I had to liken hypermiling to golf, it would only be like learning to pitch a 18 yarder where you assess the lie and use the finesse of the arm/hands - the same with the finesse of reading the traffic and using your right leg & foot to feather the most out of EV  Yep, I am Nutz  (but I already started a thread on that already...)
  22. Thanks Marc - cool, we have 2 CMax Golfers! Yah! I stash my stuff in the rear mostly and I have bags for my shoes. 2 iron huh? Cleveland makes some nice stuff, I still have their Cleveland 460 driver and TA-2 irons in the house, classic heads and recently, I was lucky to be given a Rotex 1.0 52* wedge - one of the best gap wedges to date. They jus came out with the Rotex 2.0. That Rotex beat out my ATV and its so accurate on the full wedge shot, yummy. Gotta be the sole grind, or jus new club magic... Keep playing  Nice to drive to the course in a great car as well...
