  1. Q1 Garage to work is 20 miles, may vary 1 mile depending on whether I want to change it up a bit. 63 traffic lights! Work to Garage to the Golf course and then home is 28 miles, so 48 miles and I typically average 66.6 (good) to 62 MPG (bad). All depends on traffic. Sometimes I go to my Chiro and that stretches out the day trip to about 56 miles total and I finish around 65(good) to 64(bad). I am no longer an assessor, got a 9to5 job that pays way more money and less time & mileage on the road. My tank now lasts 3 to 3 1/2 weeks. My trip variations is what golf course I go to after work or whether I go to the market. Now, the warm up cycle is intersting. From cold, I get Maxine rolling to about 100 yards and kick in the ICE in the D mode. Let it run for 2 seconds, and then kick in the L mode and I accelerate to about 15-20mph. Shegoes into EV. Then I kick in ICE again, and then she goes into a 2nd warm up cycle that lasts about 2 seconds. Then EV. Then I kick in ICE again and she, may, go into a 3rd cycle. That lasts about 2 seconds. All up this is over 2 miles and I expend about 0.03 gas, that I consider warming up from COLD. Now when she is warmed up, like driving to the golf course, she will take about 2 seconds and start in D go for a little while and kick in the L for a second and then kick it back to D. Why do I do L - based on hybridbear's finding with the warmup cycles that been programmed into the CMax. It works and I run the center grill cover. Temps for this cycle in the morning has not dropped below 65F, its been warm here and Maxine :flirt: the warmer temp.
  2. Interesting stats from Post #1: 66 members as of 9/29/2014 64 members have clocked up 40,721.9 Total Odo miles, of which 24,067.2 are EV miles, 59.1% EV (Pretty damn good) 62 members reported their Trip Computer gas used, 782.19 gallons. 62 members have an average of 51.22 MPG according to their CMax. You need a minimum of 45.9 MPG to be in the 600+ CMax club.
  3. Ah...the joys of discovering the CMax and what she is capable of ;) It never gets old, jus when you thought you know the Gong...oh theres another Gong there..... :victory: Keep on Maxing guys... :shift:
  4. ..so now we know his Prius was a secret smoker :drop: Tell next time, go get a CMax, worst case dead battery don't go up in flames (that we know off).... ;)
  5. First... :hi5: Shout out to the Lord for keeping me safe, at the expense of Maxine, my 2013 CMax. She was all bent (including frame) but got patched up by Ford Auto Body in Van Nuys, CA and I truly believe, she has a NEW spirit - driving much better than she was before. Amazing & shes a Blessed car, I have no doubt. :hi5: Shout out to Matt aka Recumpence - the 1st Maxer to break the 700 and ever since then over, 40+ tanks in the 700s. :hi5: Shout out to ptjones for breaking the 600 at the same time as me back in 2013. Skipped the 700s and went to the high 800s. :hi5: Shout out to all who drive and strive to break in the 600, 700, 800 - KEEP GOING...especially Brother Mike. Keep going (or come down and see me and get some tutes). :hi5: Shout out to the Consumer Report aka Toaster Reviews for a brilliant job of convincing us the CMax is a 38MPG car, especially in the City. Yeah, way to go fellas, :love_shower: proving you wrong every time I get into Maxine. :hi5: Shout out to Ford for an AMAZING car - if you use her right & understand how she performs :) Now, I did NOT run out of gas as my intention was to break the 900 barrier to prove IT IS POSSIBLE and get to the gas station afterwards. I had the spare gas tank, jus in case. For me, I see it as a bonus point for NOT running out of gas to prove that I can manage my MPGs. Yeah, I could have added more miles but thats not my intention or goal. Now, these 901 miles was done with from garage, to work, to the golf courses and back to the garage, all City surface streets. There is no freeway miles here and given there is little difference in time saved (thanks to Los Angeles traffic), I might as well utilize the roads & MPGs. There was no special loop or special trip. Many hours at the lights waiting (can't time all of them). SPECS on Maxine: Maxine has :airquote: Moi made center grill cover. 9 gas pods on the rear shelf. Tire pressure was maintained around 50psi. Premium Costco Tier 1 gas used, always. Everything else is plain Jane stock SEL. This 901 miles tank is my 8th 800+ tank as I did not count the many 600s and 700s tanks I've had. To me 800+s are DA BOMB and I try and drive these tanks day-in-day-out unless Maxine has to do camping or snow trips, then she does 600s and 700s tanks. Now, I think its possible to break the 1000 using a non-aero modded CMax (not counting the grill cover or gas pods) - with the right traffic conditions, route and weather. Someone else can try for this... Cheers and keep on MAXing. Jus-A-CMax PS Its camping & snow season coming up, thats it for these big tanks and its back to the 600s, 700s or mid 800s. It all depends but you know one thing, Maxine and I will be MAXing it up. By the way, I had a black SEL follow me down Glenoaks today, I wonder who that was...dude was behind Jus-A-CMax EVing and doing the rolling recharge. I think he was doing the same, he was going around the same speed as me...cruising in a 35 mph ;)
  6. Feathering is the control of the pedal - to control how much ICE or EV to use, depending on what you want the CMax to do. imho ....feathering is MORE important as engine mode selection, don't feather and you kick in the ICE. Patience grasshoppers ;)
  7. salsaguy...wait...I swear you told me you were getting the Prius V for the luscious wooden interior, fine handling and exquisite refined power & handling and styling... ..oh. :drop: Sorry, that the wrong car description...I was thinking of my Jaguar
  8. Better fixed than dead - unlike GM which ignored their ignition switch issues till many drivers died. Kudos to Ford for jumping on this :)
  9. Do not do telephone surveys, its a load of croc. I did one once and I have done many surveys of the CMax and this one did not honor the payment. They plain lied. Avoid like the plague and you basically have no proof of the agreement.
  10. Crap, as much as I don't like these cars...wow, I feel sorry for the owner. Hope this person has insurance...and a Toyota investigation...
  11. :worship: Matt has unbelievable engineering & driving skills :)
  12. This one is only :airquote: rented, when they buy it and start toasting with :airquote: real bread, that is when the knives comes out. They are happy boyz at the Toaster Reports..once they smell that bread burn :victory:
  13. :congrats: and added to Post #1. Welcome :) Now please PM Adair to get her to comeback and mod her thread... ;)
  14. I'd thought you'd rather enjoyed your lemonade from your CMax Lemon.... ;)
  15. 22+ pages of > 38MPGs, I'd like to see how the Toaster Reviewers explain this "anomaly" and you guys aren't pushing the hypermiling at all - thats the best part. If yall did, the Toaster Reviewers would be made to look like fools in clown suits in the middle of the Sahara Desert trying out for the 100m Butterfly for their company swim team.. :lol2:
  16. Ooooof, I'll take my dry heat over your energi=sapping humid heat....
  17. Not over here...been a sweltering 109 yesterday at peak and this morning it was 78. Middle of heat wave, MPG is up....way, up.
  18. I'll take you on my morning drive route and see how you do on it. Lets see if its the driver or the car....no worries, when you get here. Eventually.
  19. Its that whole section...DoD. I pulled out a 1/3 bucket of leaves, bark, twigs and seeds...I could start my own forest. Mind you, the last time I cleaned this was a year ago....the last time I took that beetle shot...or whatever shiny bug that was...
  20. I think the vid is good for the new owners, or owners who have not driven hybrids before. Its hard for them to grasp what that battery is or does - let alone understand the battery, the torque and what are its weakness or power. So, great vid Treptower - a good start for new owners for sure :) Now, as an intermediate driver of the CMax, to me and imho, its understated. I would follow it up with "how" to utilize the battery to maximize its usefullness in real life driving. I'll throw this out for you - if you have a SOC, use it to accelerate to a 3 bar burn, don't slow burn to charge. Also, starting from stop - use EV to start the car to 10mph, that is "average" acceleration even for speed freeks here in Los Angeles. The more EV you can go the better but I would cap it at 20mph and then use ICE to bring it up to 38. Lots of potential there for a great follow "clarification" of your thoughts.. Jus my 2c, now I will crawl back into my 38MPG machine. Its hard to get any good MPGs out of this car.... :runaway: *llooong puff....*...is my cheque here yet...... :secret: *smoke*
  21. :nonono: You are so FIRED from Consumer Reports HYBRID Driving Team :rant2: Toaster Review Toasting Team - this whole thread is a giant SLUR on their toasting abilities, how dare you :swear: ...**puff*** is my check here yet :waiting: *aha...so wonderful..what are these buzzing lights...oh...that is a cool cloud...am I still on the cONcumer Troper ayp ill :runaway:
