EDITED: Find a suitable 2013 C-MAX and you can 0% financing for up to 72 months plus $1750 cash back, or $3250 cash back without the 0% financing; For a 2013 C-MAX Energi 0% financing for 72 months plus $5000 cash back. The Energi also qualifies for the $4007 Federal Income Tax Credit, but you must have at least $4007 in Federal Income taxes to claim the full credit. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxphevb.shtml Current Ford Incentives (48201 Zip Code) http://www.yourlocalfordstores.com/Vehicles?Vehicle=2013%20Ford%20C-MAX Here's the pdf, in case the screen link doesn't work for you:

C-Max Gets "Acceptable" Rating In Crash Test
kostby replied to ArizonaEnergi's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
The long absence of positive C-MAX news and publicity originating from Ford seems to be ending! On Friday, August 8th, 2014 Ford mentioned C-MAX as an 'IIHS Top Safety Pick' in a press release: https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2014/08/08/2014-ford-c-max-hybrid-earns-top-safety-pick.html Not much to brag about, given Volt's Pick+ status, but at least Ford seems confident enough to mention the C-MAX again. -
It's often an issue with the plastic(s) used, and not the conditions. I had a 1980 Westmoreland Pennsylvania-built VW Rabbit. The tan dashboard cracked within 5 years. I bought a 1984 Wolfsburg Germany-built VW Rabbit Convertible in 1994, and kept it until 2010. The dark brown dashboard never cracked, despite being a convertible and having thousands more days in the sun. Different dashboard suppliers, no doubt. And cracking is not the only problem that may occur with plastic. Enter 'sticky dashboard' into your favorite search engine to see the current problems with some Lexus, Toyota, Hyundai, and others.

I don't know how long you're willing to wait... Dealers who are highly motivated to move aging inventory (look up 'inventory floor planning' in your favorite search engine) may offer discounts as large or larger than the other rebates and incentives. In my opinion, the incentives available on 2014's will not likely change substantially in the next 90 days, but the motivation for dealers to move 'leftover' models will increase after the new (2015) model year arrives in showrooms. If sales of the 2014 and 2015 C-MAX continue to increase steadily with no more CR scare stories and no more EPA rating decreases, incentives on 2015's could even shrink by Spring. We bought our 2013 C-MAX SE, built in April 2013, at the end of March 2014 for $4830 off sticker including all incentives, with no trade-in. We were prepared to pay cash, but financed some of the price for 120 days to get the $2500 incentives. And we negotiated away the $500 dealer doc fee, the extra-cost pin-striping, window VIN# Etching, and $50 for 100% nitrogen in the tires, all items dealers like to use to pad the bottom line profit margin. They really wanted to sell us that car that day! We also saved several hundred dollars in Indiana state license plate excise tax and fees, based on vehicle age and base vehicle sticker price. The tax decreases annually for the first 10 years of ownership. For licensing purposes, every car in Indiana begins life at '1 year old'. So our new 2013 purchased in 2014 was a 2-year-old car by state calculation. And we only paid for a pro-rated 5 months of Year 2 tax (April through August). We renew plates annually at the end of August, so now we're paying tax on a 3-year-old vehicle. Taking the time to understand these arcane state licensing rules and regulations did save money! And we received the $475 goodwill payment from Ford for the most recent EPA sticker decrease in June 2014.

SOC = State Of Charge - In visual terms, how much 'Blue' shows in the Battery icon that can be displayed on the left side dash screen. In the pic attached, the battery icon is just over half full. The 'Blue' color in the Battery icon is a relative indication of how much charge in the High Voltage Battery (= HVB) is available to use to power the vehicle and power major electrical accessories like the air conditioner compressor and the blower.

I hate to admit being so stupid, but here goes... Last Spring, I changed the 2032 in a key fob for my Pontiac Vibe, and I discovered that at least one company (Energizer, I think, but I'm not positive) sells them in the blister multi-packs and now applies a gray plastic sticker on the 'bottom' side of the battery, the one without the battery number. The sticker on the bottom does say 'Remove this before using' or something to that effect. The reason that is significant, is because a year or so before that, the other Pontiac key fob stopped working. Bought a pair of 2032's at the store, came out to the car, quickly stuck in the 'fresh' battery, but it still didn't work. Even went through the whole dozen-or-so-steps of reprogramming to recognize the fob, figuring the car stopped recognizing it when the battery went dead. The fob is 10 years old at that point, so I figured it wasn't really worth spending $30 on a new fob, and simply stopped using that one. It's the 'spare' key, anyway. So this Spring, after discovering the sticker on the bottom of the one I just replaced, I checked the old fob, and sure enough, the new battery in the other fob didn't work because… there was STILL a sticker on the bottom!

Current EPA numbers on the Monroney sticker shown for our 2013 C-MAX are 40 Combined/42 City/37 Highway I'm not speaking on behalf of Ford, but here's where and how I found out I would get the most recent check: Go to Ford ETIS Vehicle Selector: http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do Enter your C-MAX VIN number. If you see the notification of 14B03 - FUEL ECONOMY CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, you will likely get a check.

Hyundai also has the sliding armrest feature on the Elantra GT hatchback. Doesn't make our armrests any 'slidier', but there are two armrest pics (among many of the car) in this thread from GenVibe.com: http://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=43545

So true! And from this info we COULD conclude that the CU test drivers were just a pack of "old dogs" with bad, aggressive driving habits, completely incapable of learning any "new tricks" to achieve more than 37mpg when test-driving a 2013 C-MAX.

It definitely takes patience, but you can locate many SE + 203A cars online in the region by searching Ford.com. I didn't find any SE's in Michigan with Equipment Group 202A (the lowest price option to get MyFordTouch), but there are many with Group 203A, and Group 203A includes both 201A (power liftgate from keyfob or dash but without kick-to-open feature, reverse sensing system, and ambient lighting) PLUS Group 202A (Sync, MyFordTouch, and Sirius) I used 48201 as a starting zipcode and selected Extended Inventory, specifying Model SE, and searched until I located the higher net prices, at least $24,735 or higher. Those are the SE's with Group 203A. That's literally over 140 cars into the listing of more than 300 SE's, so you need to keep clicking 'Show More' at the bottom until the net price shown is $24,735 or higher. As we near the end of the model year, you might find a 'deal' on an SE 203A. that makes the extra cost above 202A reasonable, especially compared with moving up to an SEL (all of them are equipped with MyFordTouch) at a price of at least net $25,495/$27,995 sticker without any other options (SEL with Equipment Group 300A) The Extended Inventory search doesn't tell you WHICH dealer in Michigan has the cars you locate - some may be located in Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, or Illinois, as indicated at the bottom of the car page IN DLR, OH DLR, and so on. The least expensive SE with 203A I located in Michigan is Ice Storm, and has a net price of $24,735 shown online, sticker price $27,235. Here's the link: http://www.inventory.ford.com/dealer/Bob-Maxey-Ford-Inc-09834/model/2014-C-MAX/vin/1FADP5AU9EL506322?zipcode=48201&segment=Car&inventoryType=extended&ownerPACode=04229&lang=en&branding=1 Note that the dealer name displayed in that URL is NOT the dealer who has the car in inventory, but IS apparently the closest one to the starting zipcode I used, 48201 And here's the Monroney window sticker. http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FADP5AU9EL506322&ref=VL Here'a a quick sample of a few other SE's also with Equipment Group 203A White Platinum http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FADP5AU6EL512854&ref=VL Ice Storm http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FADP5AU7EL518484&ref=VL Ruby Red http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FADP5AU7EL510935&ref=VL Many of them have other options that add to the bottom line cost, and of course the optional colors (Ruby Red, Blue Candy, and White Platinum) cost more.

Welcome from Boone County, Indiana, home of far more pickup trucks than hybrids! I've only seen three other C-MAX on the road in my town, ever, and I know one of those was 'just visiting' because it had out-of-state license plates. Prii are a frequent sight, but still greatly outnumbered by Silverados, F-150s, Rams... For privacy, I'd suggest that you remove your car's VIN number from the 'Current Vehicle' description in your My Profile settings. I'm not sure how or if someone could ever use that info for identity theft, but better to err on the side of caution.

Do you know who owns this car?
kostby replied to scottwood2's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
Looks like it could be a PlastiDip spray-can application. https://www.dipyourcar.com/home.php Here is a thread started by mtb9153 with pics of his white C-MAX and Braker's white C-MAX, both with black wheels and grille http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3050-plastidip-paint/ There are lots of 'how-to' videos posted by the company on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/user/PlastiDipIntl -
EDIT/UPDATE: Fixed the descriptions There are at least three other sunshade discussions as well: I purchased the Intro-Tech roll-up model FD55 from PartsCheap.com for $36.95 with free shipping. Silver on the 'outside' white on the 'inside'. http://www.partscheap.com/2013-C-Max-Windshield-Sunshade-p/fd-55.htm Apparently same shade on eBay is now 30.90 with free shipping from fanattic1296: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intro-Techs-Best-Custom-Fit-Auto-Sunshade-for-Ford-Aerostar-to-LTD-/271450454778?pt=Apparel_Merchandise&var=&hash=item3f33b53afa There are also places selling the FD55R. but I'm not sure what the difference is. It appears to me that ours is identical to the Heatshield shown in the other two threads. I posted a couple of pics in this thread: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2075-intro-tech-automotive-sunshade/ Another sun shade thread. The link for photos goes back another page on the thread you're viewing. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2258-sun-shade-for-front-window/ More pics of HeatShield roll-up. Fotomoto also posted pics of two of the smaller 'oval' shades turned sideways. Heatshield looks and apparently works the same as the Intro-Tech roll-up. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2020-heatshield-sunshade-for-the-2013-cmax/

Forgot to add that 2994 combined sales for July 2014 was 10.9% higher than the 2700 combined sales of July 2013!

I purchased a roll-up IntroTech model FD55 (NOT FD-55 R) for $36.95 from PartsCheap.com with free shipping in May 2014: http://www.partscheap.com/2013-C-Max-Windshield-Sunshade-p/fd-55.htm Today, the same item (FD55) is apparently $30.90 here on ebay from seller fanattic1296 with free shipping: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intro-Techs-Best-Custom-Fit-Auto-Sunshade-for-Ford-Aerostar-to-LTD-/271450454778?pt=Apparel_Merchandise&var=&hash=item3f33b53afa These photos were taken in the garage the first night right after it arrived, shipped tightly rolled. The silver side is now less-wrinkly and fills the window opening side-to-side better now that it's been unrolled and spent a few hours in the sun. We live in Indiana, so we'll use it primarily in the summertime. Open the black plastic shipping bag very carefully at one end and you have a free outer wrap for storing it in the garage during the winter (a.k.a non-road-construction season).

CarMax 'nearly new' cars are quite likely former rental cars. I've seen several online originally titled in Orlando, Florida, obviously a huge vacation destination. After a rental-agency determined maximum number of months and/or maximum miles of service, the cars are sold at auction for resale. (This specific car was NOT at a CarMax dealer. VIN redacted.) If you look up the Monroney sticker for the specific VIN number, a former rental C-MAX will likely show a SPECIAL ORDER status (meaning fleet purchase), and many show Daytime Running Lights listed, an $45 option not available to individual buyers.

The only reliable measure of cars sold is… Cars sold! We can speculate all day, but vehicles in dealer inventory are not a reliable guide to which model sells better. The small local Ford dealer has had the same new SE in inventory for at least 5 months, sold none, and apparently sold zero new SEL's in that same time period - haven't seen any on the lot, on-line inventory, nor any sitting outside the dealership all shined-up for delivery. So tell me, which one is selling better?
-
Care to name the dealerships involved? I live just north of the city, and haven't had mine in for service yet, so I'd like to avoid a 'previous dealer' experience, if possible. If you don't want to name names IN the forum, would you be so kind as to send me a private message?

08-04-2014 608pm update 2163 C-MAX Hybrids were sold in July 2014, 12th highest since introduction. Best C-MAX Hybrid monthly sales this year, an increase of 72 cars over May 2014.C-MAX Hybrid sales were 4.6% lower than one year ago. That doesn't sound too great until you compare it with the sharp double-digit year-over-year monthly sales decreases that began in October 2013.831 C-MAX Energi Hybrids were sold in July 2014, 6th highest since introduction, 92% higher than one year ago. C-MAX Energi Hybrid sales were the 2nd best monthly sales total this year, and 92% ahead of last year.C-MAX Energi Hybrid is the 6th best-selling plug-in Hybrid in the US, behind 5th place Fusion Energi this year.2994 Combined C-MAX Sales in August 2014 were the 10th highest monthly total ever. 12th best sales month ever for C-MAX Hybrid and 6th best sales month ever for C-MAX EnergiBest combined C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi sales in since August 2013, and a slight increase of 54 total units over June, 2014. FOOTNOTES: C-MAX Hybrid sales are calculated by subtracting C-MAX Energi monthly sales reported here from C-MAX combined sales reported by Ford here EDIT 10-02-2014 CHARTS AND SPREADSHEETS DELETED BECAUSE EACH NEW REPORT CONTAINS ALL PRIOR MONTHS DATA

Also check to see if all four are the EXACTLY the same. There are two nearly identical Michelin X Green Energy Saver All Season tires that fit the C-MAX wheels. They could have ordered the wrong ones. This comparison from TireRack.com shows there is a difference in 1) Max inflation pressure 51psi (C-MAX OEM) vs 44psi 2) Max load capacity 1433 (C-MAX OEM) vs 1477 3) UTQG rating 480 A A (C-MAX OEM) vs 480 A B and 4) Price - the C-MAX OEM is priced several dollars higher than the other tire. I didn't include the price in my comparison screenshot because it probably varies.

C-Max Gets "Acceptable" Rating In Crash Test
kostby replied to ArizonaEnergi's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
The very safest vehicle is the one driven by an alert, trained driver in a vehicle that empowers the driver to avoid the crash. But golly, there are HUMANS involved, so that's MUCH too hard to do in real life. Instead we must assume that every car is nothing but an unguided missile that will ALWAYS crash 100% of the time. Make THE CARS SAFER, let drivers off the hook 100% of the time. Did you notice that every few years, the IIHS changes the rules to make crash tests more severe? These new tests involve low-percentage crashes that are ever more unlikely, yet ever more severe tests of the vehicles. Each new standard moves the 'safe car' benchmark farther and farther away from the previous 'good' benchmark. So a car that IIHS might have deemed 'good' in 2006 quite likely performs at 'poor' or 'unacceptable' levels if given the current tests in use today. Bottom line: "Consumers, you MUST buy a new car immediately. You're old car is a death-trap." IIHS provides free attention-getting violent barrier-crash-test video clips to all major and minor media outlets and online. Who can turn away free ice cream? Who would question it when the authority on auto crash data sends you video for free, with an 'IIHS expert' who will field a couple of softball questions via satellite during the local news broadcast? So News Directors and reporters on deadline continue to air this content because it fits their 'protect the consumer at all costs' mindset. The IIHS continues to shape popular opinion in order to, uh, urge auto manufacturers that they need to add more and more expensive technology to provide less and less ADDITIONAL benefit to overall occupant safety. And each newer, and allegedly safer, vehicle costs more to purchase, to insure, and is ever more costly to repair in the event of even a minor crash. Can added technology ever result in more injuries? http://www.wfmynews2.com/story/news/local/2014/06/11/toyota-airbag-shrapnel-takata-recall-second/10338307/ "Toyota is, in effect, re-recalling 766,300 cars and trucks in the U.S. for continued risk of shrapnel blasting out of the front passenger airbag." Yeah. I own one of these affected vehicles. Repair parts are not available yet. <RANT OFF> -
I suggest that you always search for information about C-MAX within the Search box in these forums first. Not every major search engine (Bing, Yahoo, Google) is equally adept at crawling the web for updated content within forum threads. On June 1st, 2014 I posted a link to the 2015 C-MAX Fleet Buyers order guide for 2015's and other information about production schedules in this thread. Here's a direct link to the 2015 C-MAX brochure http://www.fleet.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/brochures/2015/2015_C-MAX_Hybrid.pdf Production of 2014 Model Year C-MAX is scheduled to end on September 14th, 2014. Production is scheduled to begin on 2015 in September 15, 2014, according to this thread. Fleet(?) order forms were to be available on June 13th 2014. Scheduling the build dates of 2015 production vehicles was to have begun on July 17th, 2014. I have not tried to order a 2015, and in any case, I'm not a fleet buyer, so I can't confirm or deny that dealers are now taking orders from individuals for the 2015 models.

I'm not aware of a specific section containing dealer ratings within these forums. This is the service used by the dealer where we purchased our C-MAX: http://www.dealerrater.com
