  1. I haven't and won't be switching my tires back until January when I leave for a trip to AZ. Discount Tire trained them when the snows were installed. I sure hope my Ford traing tool works, because I will be swapping them back myself in January and I won't have the time to go to Discount or the dealer for a reprogramming.
  2. Searching a little deeper into the topic, I found this video. Seems to be an easy and quick retrain, all you need is the TPMS sensor tool.
  3. New winter tires on Saturday and I got a malfunction light on Sunday. I went back to the store to have my sensors retrained and he gave me a printout of the procedure, here it is. 1. Set to correct pressure. Set the emergency brake. Leave driver door open. 2. Turn ignition to OFF and press and release the brake pedal. 3. Cycle (press button) ignition from OFF to RUN position 3 times, ending in RUN position. (Push button requires 2 presses for ON) 4. Push and release brake pedal. 5. Turn (or press button for) ignition to OFF position. 6. Cycle ignition from OFF to RUN position 3 times, ending in RUN position. 7. Horn will sound once and TPMS light will blink. 8. Scan tires LF/RF/RR/LR. 9. After LR sensor has been learned, turn ignition to OFF position. **If the horn sounds when the ignition is turned OFF after step 9, you must train again**
  4. scottwood2, one thing Ford has done in the past and I got one for my 2012 Focus, go to the Ford website and request a brouchure and indicate you are considering buying in the next 1-3 months. When I did that, I received a $750 discount coupon attached to the brouchure. It's worth a try anyway.
  5. It is nice to be able to have the windows open slightly when it's raining. Also, you can crack your windows when parked to get a little air flow through the car. I'm not sure about you estimates on mpg reduction, did you mean to type .001-.002 mpg's, because I doubt it will cause a 1-2 mpg drop. The only difference I notice is a little more wind noise.
  6. The best price I found and purchased through Amazon from Banner Automotive, $74.22 + $4.99 shipping, $79.21 total. Through Ford Parts and my local dealership (so no shipping cost) they were $89.00. Ford part # DM5Z-18246-A Same SKU # on my Amazon invoice Order Item ID 43861174284994
  7. I decided to go for it and install side window deflectors. I've had them on many of my past vehicles. I miss the days when cars came with channels that directed the water down and away, now it seems the water either rolls in off the windshield or drips from the top of the window. Here are some pics, I think they look good.
  8. You can do whatever you want, but in my opinion, I would not use a hair dryer or any other heat source. Even a small amount of heat can disrupt the clearcoat and paint. I have experience with this. One winter I got a nasty paint chip and wanted to get it filled before any salt affected it. I didn't have a heated garage, so I used a standard bathroom hair dryer to warm and dry the touched up area, and it only took a few seconds before the paint bubbled. I'm not a dim wit and knew what I was trying to do, I didn't hold the dryer too close or in one place and kept the hot air moving across a large section. Before I knew what happened, the paint had bubbled at the chip and the surrounding area looked like it was beginning to liquify. Now for a suggestion. Carefully pull the sticker off using your finger nail, get yourself some non solvent, water based OOPS! from the hardware store and remove the adheive. If your trying to debadge your car, hold a rag under the name plate, pour OOPS! above the letters, let it soak a bit, wipe up any excess and carefully pull off the letters or use a piece of thin fish line or dental floss to seperate them from the panel, finish the clean up with a little OOPS! on a rag. Always clean the area with soap and water after using any type of adhesive remover. If you're planning on using a tool of some kind, remember, you cant scratch something with an object that's softer than the other, meaning, plastic won't scratch glass, but glass can scratch plastic, so be carefull what you use if you try to scrape the clearcoat and paint.
  9. I agree. These days, factory roof rails and racks are for appearance and not functionality. I can see adding a removable rack to occassionally transport bikes, surf boards or plywood home from the lumber yard, but every little disturbance of air flow is going to affect fuel econony, even if it's just a fraction. Ford designed this car without roof rails for a reason. On that Escape forum, before they became an option, most folks removed the cross bars and many wanted to remove the rails as well in an attempt to improve fuel economy.
  10. I haven't looked, but I wonder if the black plastic strips cover up the seam dividing the roof panel to the side panels. There is a thread on the www.fordescape.org forum covering the removal of the plastic strips and roof rails. If I recall, there's a video attached to one of the posts demonstrating the procedure. I found it, here you go. They're working on a Ford Kuga, but I believe global design makes it the same across all models.
  11. I have them on my 2014 Energi and they don't keep the back of my car very clean from dust. If they do reduce the dust, I can't imagine how dirty the 2013's get.
  12. Just looking at that makes me sad, I can only imagine how you feel, we all know how you cherish your C-Max's. I agree with kostby, most likely a mower projectile, or a rock that was run over just right from the edge of a tire and went flying off. If someone was trying to break in, why that window, unless it was just malicious damage for no reason and that's sad too. I guess if there's an upside (which there really isn't), it didn't put a huge chip and dent in the paint.
  13. The kick to close also works when you're sitting on the bumper taking off your golf shoes and you swing your other leg under the bumper, you don't hear the closing tones and the tail gate comes down on your head.
  14. Welcome to the Energi wing of the C-Max family. I'm not clear, did you lease or buy this time? If you chose to lease, I'm not sure if you're eligible for the tax rebate on a lease, but i could be wrong, first time today, but it does happen frequently.
  15. That's the thing, Ford needs to get more people looking at them and sit in the seat to see what a great car it is.
  16. So much negativity. What do you expect, it's only the third year of production. The reports of the C-Max's death are greatly exaggerated.
  17. Here's the 2015 MY order guide. Looks like the only changes are two nwe color choices. 2015 C-MAX Hybrid Order Guide.pdf
  18. Are you sure about the transmission being built in Japan. I thought the ecvt in the Ford hybrids, PEHV and Focus electric was a Ford design and built in Wayne. You are correct about individual parts suppliers coming from around the World, that's why Ford refers to their cars as a Global Design. It saves the company money and makes it easier to build cars when they share components. You may want to check on that Made in China statement, I believe most of the parts made in China are for the Chinese market and none make it to the Western market.
  19. Looks a lot like the Focus front end. If this is in fact a new front grille design, I'm glad I got a 2014. Of course, the 2015 Focus lower grille area looks more like the current C-Max/Fusion, Aston Martin design.
  20. Here's a nice "trinket" tray I purchased for my Escape from Ali Express and it fit nicely in my C Max.
  21. If you purchased the Hybrid or Energi with resale value in mind, you purchased it for all the wrong reasons.
  22. I never said how many holes I played. ;) I rarely have anyone in the back seat, so I keep my rear seats down. I cut a piece of 1/8" thick hard particle board, stuck some Velcro hooks on the smooth side to hold it in place and keep that covering the seat backs to protect them when I slide my clubs in and out. I load my push cart on top of the battery and that's covered with a Ford OEM cargo cover. I had a set of clubs stolen from a station wagon many years ago, so I don't leave them in the car anymore. I thought it might provide better air flow and get A/C air to the battery, so I keep the rear seats down all the time. It's been pretty cool here so far and I haven't needed the A/C yet so the battery has stayed well within it's target temperature range, also perfect weather for golf/biking/walks, temps in the 70's and no humidity... nice.
  23. My golf clubs. I broke 80 for the first time this year.
  24. What was the temp in South Florida versus the Northeast. Maybe the drop in ambient temperature caused the tire pressure to drop. For every 10 degree temperature change, the psi raises or drops 1 psi.
  25. As far as the clock goes, have you tried a master reset or pulling fuse 67 to reset the radio/MFT/SYNC system?
