it was just the bolt in the tire. not the pen. the pen was there for size comparison. i would imagine if it happened while i was at work (vandalism). it would have been flat or the TPS light would have lit before I got home. 30 minute commute. The stars must have aligned perfectly for the tire to run over the bolt at the perfect angle to drive it into the tire. maybe the bolt had dropped into crack and was sticking up. I don't recall running over any obvious debris. No way the ford fix a flat would have worked. I guess I was due. the last flat tire I had was when I ran over a pair of 90* needle nose plyers in my drive way...back in '97.. going to put two new tires on...

Well got home on friday. parked outside, heard a hissing noise, but the neighbors ac unit was running and making its normal racket so i did not think much about it. came back an hour later to go pick up my kid, flat. so I hop in wifes car, go get kid and stop at parts store and pick up the rubber goey string tire fix kit. find the hole was unable to pull out the offending object. so I push it in and install the rubber strings. problem solved. but I'm planning a trip from DC to Canada so I get a proper plug patch and have the guys at work dismount the tire to make the repair. this is what came out of the tire. Just how the F$#@ does that get into the tire. 4/32 left on the tires 55K miles so going to do a plug patch to get me through the next couple days... argh. wasn't planning on funding for new tires this year. the plug patch goes in with almost no resistance. so needless to say I don't have much confidence in the repair going to canada...

my last tank was during the cold snap here in NOVA 43 and change. ugh. With out the heat or Ac on getting high 40's is easy. but cold weather hurts. No grill covers.... Not much sitting in traffic for me since my commute is earlier than most. Where in NOVA are you Josh?

Washer resevior
Marc Smith replied to Marc Smith's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
hey folks, just an update... ended up that the washer reservoir was not broken. there is a small barbed elbow that hooked to the hoses. this elbow is what broke. so I ended up just pulling the pump out and swapping pumps. very easy. So I have an NIB washer reservoir. if anyone wants it... free to a good home, you pay postage... -

p3g thanks for the pics.. -
i just did an oil change and rotated. and I can't do 50psi. i've been pretty happy around 42psi I did not measure but i might be at 3-4/32 how big of a hit does the MPG take with the conti's. hard to believe that I spent less on high performance tires for my impala SS with 275 50 17 shoes than these... for the ford....

so I'm at 46K on my tires. wear bars are getting close but stil not even with the tread..... and with winter soon to be upon us... I'm hoping that I can wait on tires. I'd hate to buy new tires when there is tread life still left in the tire. but...snow is a different issue with shallow tread... Sticker shock on the OEm tires. 179.... ouch... are the continental true contact really that bad from a FE point of view?

Anyone ever replace one? I got into a minor scrape with a concrete pad and the washer reservoir is cracked... so found a replacement. which I ordered just need to do the R&R Alldata has no information on it except that it will take an hour. I'm assuming that I need to remove the under bumper cladding and such to get access... any ideas? I have not put it up on the lift and started removing any panels yet, woudl rather wait until the new tank arrives... just trying to get ideas first

http://www.r-racing.co.uk/ford-c-max-2010-1983-c.asp I got one of these rear bumper protectors. it wraps around the edge. I golf and I use my bumper as a foot rest. I see that they are not in stock...
-
from what I remember the driver of the colorado had passed out in the drivers seat with their foot on the gas pedal, and the person the in c-max stayed put until they could get the truck shut off.

http://thechive.com/2016/10/25/driver-faints-with-her-foot-on-the-accelerator-video/ In th video looks like a chevy Colorado is nestled against the rear bumper of a cmax. With the pedal to the metal. Cmax doesn't move....

seat warmer that does roast your nuts... and the ability to turn on the back heater separate from the bottom. maybe seat coolers? something other than carpet so it won't pull up in the rear cargo area...

Using Console USB with cable to charge phone
Marc Smith replied to pequeajim's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
i keep my ipod classic plugged in 24/7 I find it easier to plug the iphone into the ciggy lighter socket I have clamp style phone holder right above the mft screen. much easier o to follow the tunr by turn directions when the google maps is running. and much easier to change pandora stations. -
wny I dont carry much, golf bag once a week, model boats, nothing major. but all require the seats to be folded down. and when pulling stuff out the unprotected edge of the carpet is slowly starting to peel back. Its one of those simple things like a plastic "u" channel over the edge would work. or some sort of a rivet or heavy stiching to hold the edge down. Heck the edge of the carpet isn't even sewn. I do have a plastic pay I put down when I know i'm hauling stuff thats going to be dirty, like plants, or lumber. Its one of those things that when looking a car over for purchase. you'd never notice or even think about. until it starts to happen... I really miss the "plastic" cargo area of the HHR...

Yeah I';m outside the 3/36. being that its been a recurring problem I could probably get the dealer ship to re squirt, but its not a big enough problem for me to warrant the hassle to run to the dealer. what about the carpet on the rubber mat.... any ideas on that??? I've already pitched the the two carpet squares so there is no going back with the orginal stuff... just need to get the blue glue off the larger section and it won't look that bad
-
So has anyone ever removed the rear carpet from the C-max.... so had a hot day they other day.... the small square just fell off and the larger section started to come off. so I just gave it a swift yank. so the larger piece came right off but left the glue (if you want call it that) behind. I've had the dealer twice add glue while it was in for recall service. And the carpet on the floor is starting to come loose. So I have been giving thought to pulling the carpet out. since the ford glue doesn't seem to work anyhow.. I figure it would be easy enough to take the carpet out and use it to make a pattern maybe use 1/2 inch ply

Transmission failure - VERY unhappy with customer service
Marc Smith replied to alanstri's topic in eCVT / Transmission
you car has 47K indicated on the odomoeter. If I was ford, I'd be looking into how many miles are on the transmission. IE 47K driven miles + X number of towed miles. Does the vehicle somewhere in its memory record these miles, and if so, can ford use them to deny a warranty claim... On the same note, if the computer records the towed miles, then it also should be able to record if the vehicle was placed in tow mode properly.... but I'm not ford you really should not have to travel back to St Louis... once the car is fixed, ford could ship it back to GA or hire a driver to get it to you where ever you may be at the time... From a customer service standpoint, this would be the ideal solution... good luck- 25 replies

thats my fear. so you are saying I should just leave the seats folded down and lay down in the back...
-
actually...I find the seats quite comfy. and I got three lower herniated discs.. the power Leather seats have the inflatable lumbar support.. i used to have to use one of these http://www.sleepnumber.com/sn/en/Bedding/Pillows/p/421837?cm_mmc=Google%20National-_-SHOPPING%20Pillows-_-[product]-_-904366-W4dR9Lbh&c3apimn=W4dR9Lbh&c3=80714987124&gclid=CIWDsonayM0CFUpahgodXtMINg in my chevy. I just wish the seat heaters would heat more of my back rather than my butt... I have not had the chance to find out how well the rear seats are yet...but I think that will change over the holiday weekend when the fam takes a road trip...

A 1-2mph collision causes $5,000+ damage
Marc Smith replied to DaveofDurham's topic in Body Panels, Trim, etc.
I've had hitches on most of my cars... not the prius or cmax. and yeah i've busted my share of shins while loading and unloading makes it nice to carry a bike rack or rent a trailer to haul something... but also have saved damage being done to my car by folks who l are following to close and can't stop in time or doing the bump method of parallel parking... sorry to hear about your loss.
