  1. +3.... That would be my though process as well... I't will be closer to 2019 though when i hit 100K Maybe I'll be independently wealthy in 3 years, and a small transmission failure will be chump change. :) although my daughter will be first year in college so...there goes any spending money...
  2. Make me wonder if an earlier transmission service say at 50K might be in order to help prolong the life. Or. don't do an early service and hope it fails at 90K rather than 100,001 I'm at 40K right now putting about 15k a year on the car. 90% commuting to and from work 18 miles each way with only a short stint, maybe 2-3 miles at 50-55 cruising speed... with the occasional long trip 4-500 miles
  3. Does the solar roof charge the battery or just provide enough power to run the fan and allow the cabin to vent...
  4. Trade, Welcome to the fold. Looks like you are right around the corner from me. I Live off of rt 7 near wolftrap.... wait until you get some cooler weather when you don't have to use to the heat or AC, you'll get even better mpgs. From Wolftrap to G-town on my daily commute I can average high 40's and the occasional 50 in spring and fall mid 40's summer and low 40's winter...
  5. personally I liked the eco button on my prius. bumping around town slow speeds no real need for a "warp 10" acceleration or a twitch throttle. you could drive and get good milage with out having to think about it... And I am fine with the eco cruise. I like to camp out in the right lane at 5 or so over the limit don't really ever have to worry about passing too many cars...
  6. I believe, at least in the cmax hybrid, the ev+ only affect the last half mile or so... my numbers actually went up when I turned it off..

    Hello!

  8. Tesla has a pretty extensive network right now https://www.teslamotors.com/supercharger I don't disagree with the ability to "stop whenever you want" for go juice is a nice feature. and not HAVE to stop. for me 400 miles in the saddle is about the limit for my tucus and my bladder. looks like from detroit to miami tesla has super chargers every hundred miles on i-75 with even more "destination chargers" at hotels, malls, ect... yes right now its free. but even if you eventually have to pay for it and its cheaper than gas... its still a win Heck I applaud tesla for building the infrastructure for their electric vehicles to venture beyond their range from home... Its a step in the right direction... there a few states that you want to avoid with the tesla....
  9. Scott. let look at a trip in the tesla from detriot to miami 21 hours(non stop) 1381 miles Cmax- 600 miles range so if you start will a full tank you would need to stop 2 times for fuel. figure 30 minutes for each stop. so now your trip is 22 hours. not sure baout you but 600 miles between stops is tough for me. and I like to eat my three meals. so we are looking at potentially three more stops of 30 minutes each, now we are up to 23.5 hours. the model S 85KW batter pack was rated at 320 miles by tesla.... EPA rates it at 265. so lets say 250 miles. which means you have to stop 5 times. if you start with full battery. could do it with one less stop if you can squeeze 345 miles on a full charge if we assume 60 minutes for a full charge your 21 hour non stop time has changed to 26 hours. as opposed to 23.5. thats not too hateful if you plan on spending the night in a hotel on the trip down, I'd say the difference really becomes negligible at that point. in theory you could only charge the battery to 80% in half the time, and make twice as many stops (rest breaks) which is better from a drivers perspective anyhow and do it the same amount of time...
  10. WOW, talk about a late reply... Doc brown wants his delorean back. :)
  11. i had to look it up.... adjective 1. causing insidious harm or ruin; ruinous; injurious; hurtful: pernicious teachings; a pernicious lie. 2. deadly; fatal: a pernicious disease. 3. Obsolete. evil; wicked. But yeah IE sucks
  12. I have heard that you will be totally disgusted with the quality of ride...
  13. Here is a post on a 5 year old dell at work. running windows 7 and Firefox http://www.nvmyc.com/home following lines are single spaced with a hard return at the end of the line 1 2 3 4 5 these lines are singlespaced with a soft return (word wrap) In December 2006, the facelifted version of the C-Max was revealed at the 2006 Bologna Motor Show and went on sale in late spring 2007.[3] The pre-facelift version of the car (2003–2007) was called the Ford Focus C-Max. The name change to C-Max is attributable to Ford's MPV strategy of creating a 'Max' branded line of MPVs, starting with the Ford S-Max, launched in 2006. The facelift brought the car in line with Ford's 'Kinetic Design' design language, evidenced through its twin trapezoidal grilles, large wheel arches and angular headlights. However, as the car does not have a bodyshell originally designed for 'Kinetic Design,' Ford officially states that the car contains only 'elements' of the design language.
  14. hope you got deep pockets.... thats a $100K car...
  15. Full disclosure....I am the landscape manager at a university in Washington, D.C... My crews were given the opportunity to demo dewalts full line of the 40v landscape tools. For the entire year last year. I went out and used the tools and was able to get a bit more than an hours run time out of the sting trimmer with very comparable performance to a gas powered unit. Some thing with the hedge trimmer and hand held blower. So this spring I went out and purchased the trimmer and blower at retail price for my own use at home. One of my crews likes the tools so much that they won't use the gas powered equipment anymore.... Pressure washers are still a lame duck from an electric point of view. Home owner use. Unlikely to get over 2000psi and under 2 gpm. Where as even a nice gas powered unit from Home Depot. Will come close to doubling that.... We also demoed stihls battery line up. Was not impressed. From a commercial point of view... I'm getting the chance to get a closer look at the mean green line up of mower this week. http://www.meangreenproducts.com/ 15k for a lawn mower is a bit steep... But...from a green point of view. I could probably swing it at work. Considering a comparable gas powered unit is about 12k 2k for a 21" push mower is also a bit steep. But going green is not cheap from an initial investment point of view... I've got an acre at home. And. No way anything I buy at lowes or hd. Will do me any good. I'm not walking, although I should to lose the spare tires around my waist..
  16. well last week I gave up my ICE.....on my 15 year old string trimmer and hand held blower. and purchased a Dewalt 4amp 40v string trimmer and handheld blower... Got tired of having the one gallon gas can with mix fuel, just sitting....for at last a month between fill-ups.... so down to one 5 gallon gas can for the 20 year old mower. Man I wish I could figure out a way to turn it into an electric with a usable range....
  17. Vonor I did a trip last year from DC to florida and back. 2500 miles 90% highway and I got around 40. with speeds 60-70mph. my last few fill ups around town have been netting high 40's (average speed 25-30) I think you are on track. also remember winter blended fuels will be coming to end soon which means MPG should increase as the winter blends get out of the inventories at least until you start having to use AC..
  18. Transmission Temperature "Trans" "221E1C" "(((SIGNED(A)*256)+B)*(9/8)+320)/10" "-40" "260" "°C" "TCM" got from ford focus site. I think this is the PID i used on my galaxy 5 and the obd2 elf scanner
  19. is the ride in the new transit better than the last generation. man the thing drove like a truck.....
  20. yup. but you rear passengers cannot have any legs... http://cdn.ecomento.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Tesla-Model-X-trunk-capacity.jpg
  21. it took quite some time for the kits on the prius to become available from aftermarket suppliers... I'd venture to say that we are still a few years away from that point, Plus the prius had a much larger volume of sales which made it more lucrative to the aftermarket crowd.
  22. i like knobs as well, but I have become really fond of the steering wheel controls. I did the temp setting and recirc buttons on my prius I only use voice to activite BT stereo or tune to a radio station... the voice interface is just to cumbersome(slow) to do much more. the time it takes to adjust the ac/defrost, heater, fanspeed, ect.. I just want to rip my fingernails out...
  23. non event if you have a jerry can.... :) other wise those boots were made for walkin'
  24. I have had a few tanks tanks that have been within a tenth of a gallon based on the display and pump but by an large normally half a gallon or more off with the car reading light. Half a gallon off is about 3-4% assuming you can squeeze 14 gallons in the car (tank plus fill tube) you'd need 50mpg at a minimum to get 700, and that's 50 actual, not indicated... For me...best I have gotten is 50.1 I don't see me getting to 700 with out carrying a spare can and hoping for a full charge when the tank runs dry... I don't plan on walking 20 minutes to and 20minutes from a gas station. so lets say you run dry. and all you have left is battery... how far will the car let you go. IE can you run the battery completely flat. what warning lights come on when the engine fails to start. will the car continue to try to start the engine further depleting your battery???
