i've done those types of repairs before with the sticky cords they are very stable and will be fine. but any shop should have the ability to do a plug/patch similar to this http://www.agcoauto.com/content/images/tires/tire_care_high_tech_patch.jpg which is the ideal way to go.- 9 replies

paul are running an aftermarket extended warranty?

the SE were more prone to the 12v battery problem. Ive got a 2013 sel with just over 30K and its never seen the inside of the shop except for the occasional recall. my commute is 15-18 miles each way and my fuelly average is 44 with quite a few highway miles... my current tank is 48... you'll like the car, back seat is a bit tight for adults. but lots of storage space in the back for sports gear and such

yes I agree that going from zero to 707% willhappen pretty quick and like you said the last 30% is th ebugger. I have the same problme with I charge up my LIPO's for my RC boats. the last little takes a while as the charger drops the amps so it doesn't over juice the battery i got the charging times from here https://www.cars.com/articles/2013/11/how-quickly-does-the-tesla-model-s-battery-charge/

I agree. as an only car... no way.... Hell my wife woudl probably like it as a road trip car. it woudl actually force me to stop and pull over. and take a break. my last trip to ohio I stopped once for fuel. Yeah I get that the drive can be enjoyable and realxing, but when you are not retired and your taking tim eoff work. gotta get from point a to b quick... the technology is only going to get better. And its people like Musk that have the brass and $$$ to take the risk. while the big automakers have the money, none of them really are ballsy enough to take risk. Although toyota did the prius and it worked out. as timing was just right... on a 110 house plug. you get 5 miles per hour charging 52 hours from empty to full charge. 240v plug (same as oven or dryer) 32 miles per charge or just over 9 hours for a full charge from empty 52 hours is a bitmuch.. pretty neat read... the record is 30 hours (nearly 100 MPH averag speed) and mapquest has the trip pegged at 43 hours (65 mph average) http://jalopnik.com/they-drove-a-tesla-from-la-to-new-york-in-a-record-58-h-1699782187

first year in the states... th ebody style was new in 2010 in europe... so one one had though that a lot of the little bugs had worked their way out of the system. but being it was the first year for the hybrid drive train there were bound to be some glitches...

my 2013 sel (non tech package) 31K mile. not even a hint of a dead battery. ever. and thats with leaving my ipod plugged into the console 24/7 Knock wood... has been a great car. I'd easily consider another one.

Steve, A rich commuter is a bit of a stretch. the fact that it can go 3x as far as any other domestic or Asian all electric vehicle. is still very impressive. right now I fill up every 500 miles. I spend about 10-15 minutes. filling up washing windows chekcing the oil. and I spend 30- bucks. pull into work plug in, and walk away. come back t the end of the day and drive away. not like I'm sitting by the car waiting. Not sure I ever seen any one at any charging spots. just waiting for their car to fill up with electrons. the issua bout not going more than 250 miles. gas vehicles have the same issue. Ie you don't run the tank dry.. I can count on one hand in the last 30 years that I've needed a jerry can of gas to ge me out of a bind. twice was on a motorcycle and three times in a lawn mower... I'd be able to drive to richmond VA and back (180) miles) with out charging. no other electric car can do that. 30 minutes is a long time??? takes longer to each lunch. Heck it takes longer to charge my dewalt 18V cordless drill battery... the fact the musk can get nearly a full charge in 30 minutes is pretty impressive. Not seeing any other car makers coming close. Is it a rich mans car... yes...its going up against the european $$$ market. and they are starting to get a chunk of the market. I'm still pretty impressed with it. And if I was rich. Id buy one over a bmw or merc, lexus, ect. Id still choose the aston marton over the tesla but that going to the quarter mill market then. :)

no specific numbers. but the pics look impressive http://www.valuewalk.com/2015/09/tesla-model-x-back-storage-photos/ the claim is that the frunk will hold two golf bags....

if I had 80K rolling around in my wallet that I had to spend (ie close relative dies and leaves me $$$$). Id get the 70d brand new. yeah it would be fun to go 0-60 is 3 seconds. but the 70 will do it 5.. with a 240 mile range. thats 13 trips to work. and since we have electric charging stations at work. in theory I'd not have to spend any coin at home charging.. heck after tax incentives a base model 70 with just rear wheel drive is 52K

your local incentive may vary from mine, Interest rates may vary, ect. doing the web site build gets you in the ballpark. If you were to build one I figure you'd proabbly pay close to MSRP. for either one... now if you are able to find one onthe lot and drive it away that you like, you'd be able to save even more most likely I woudl think that with low fuel prices, the hybrids are going to start getting stagnate on the lot and with winter time approaching in some locations SUVs get a premium for the harsh winters we get :)

i did thec-max sel and then selected all possible options (excpet stuff like floor mats and mud guards) and then did the same with the escape titanium , no 4wd though IMO they are close enough in price that it woudl come down to comfort (they have the same floor pan), space, utility, fuel economy and such Ie stuff you cannot really quantify in my opinion. except MPG's everything else is subjective.. when I did it a second time. the price difference was 800 not sure if these links will work so must have missed something the first time http://shop.ford.com/build/escape/#/config/Config[|Ford|Escape|2016|1|1.|301A.U0J..J4...LEA.RETAIL.TITANIUM.89L.43M.582.] http://shop.ford.com/build/cmax/?gnav=header-cars#/config/Config[|Ford|C-MAX|2016|1|1.|.P5B..L6...90C.85B.46P.LEA.HYD.NONFLEET.HSEL.89L.43P.66R.]

just did a trip from DC to Cleveland OH, to Bethlehem PA, back to DC I'd say 90% highway with some nice hills. I tried to maintain the speed limit which was mostly 55-70.. on eco cruise. loaded up for a sailing event... 1111 miles 414 ev 45.8 mpg 24.22 gallons 21 hours. -
cary I went from a Chevy HHr to a prius to a Cmax SEL My daily commute is 18 miles. some 55mph, but my average speed is 35 I've done 25 fillups, with my last ten averages 44, with a high of 50. 15,550 miles. .066 per mile current tank is 48 mpg We get plenty hot and humid here in the Dc area. the AC will frost your cojones. and the seat warmer will roast them... I almost wish I had gone with the energi since I'd have the ability to charge at work. But that loss of storage space in the back was a deal breaker. I went with a 35% tint all the way around. its plenty peppy for the hiway highway merge its no mustang though If you keep you foot out of the gas on the highway Ie keep it below 65 you'll get much better mileage, but I'm sure in texas you'll get run over One thing of note. It takes some getting used to. turning radius dosn't suck... but at times I think I could turn a f350 longbed crew cab dually in a tighter radius...
