Canadians have a superior system. It makes much more sense to measure in gallons per 100 miles in the states (which the new window sitckers show). The reason being, if you have a vehicle that gets 10mpg and are thinking about moving to 20mpg vehicle, that is a much more profound difference than moving from a 30mpg vehicle to a 40mpg vehicle. You'll save much more in the former situation than you would in the latter, but in both cases, its still a 10mpg increase. The gallons per 100 miles is much more illustrative of this.

Doesn't over inflating the tires cause them to be less grippy? http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/saturday-mechanic-blog/finding-correct-tire-pressure

AFAIK Ford has to advertise the EPA numbers, at least they can't advertise more than the EPA numbers, they may be able to do less. My point is, that test seems flawed, whether the Prius can achieve it or not.

Remote Start Questions
zhackwyatt replied to CNCGeek's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
No, its supposed to be mounted with double-sided sticky tape to the glass windshield. The problem is the auto-sensing rain wipers sensor. http://www.partscheap.com/v/vspfiles/files/pdf/2011remotestart.pdf Check page 12 for mounting locations. Granted, that isn't the 2013 c-max, but I can't find that at the moment. -
MFT rebooted this morning, while i was driving
zhackwyatt replied to R3dRyd3r's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Most of the time, you do upgrade the firmware through http://syncmyride.com When they released the big update in March, they sent everyone a USB drive with the update already on it, the smaller updates they just have people go to the website. They also sent a new nav card w/ updated maps. -
It seems to me, that the the real problem is with the EPA and not Ford. Or the fact that we have relied on EPA numbers too much. There are just too many variables. Seems relying on Fuelly and user submitted content on Fueleconomy.gov is a better way to go instead of EPA numbers.

Does the navigation system show live traffic on map?
zhackwyatt replied to sslow's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Right, but I think it expires after six months unless you sign up for a subscription. I was told that you can negotiate with Sirius to get a better rate. -

I believe you have to have an active Sirius subscription for the traffic and weather though. -
After 1000 miles have you ever had a problem with your C-Max?
zhackwyatt replied to zhackwyatt's topic in General Discussion
Ok, didn't know that. I can't take it since I don't have a 1000 on mine :) I added two N/A options. -
If you have an Android phone and there is a my ford touch app by Ford that displays the interface on your phone, letting you play with it without making real changes on the car. Also, there is help information. I believe it is available for iphone as well.

I think we both learned something, because I didn't know the Energi had a 3g modem! This seems to be (at least in my perusing of forums) to be more common when people have media that they are indexing. I was driving around the other day with the navigation and it tells you what kind of services (e.g. gas, food) there are at every freeway exit that I come across. I had music on, my phone paired, the climate system on. Plus I was using voice commands. I'm not saying the system shouldn't be able to handle all that stuff, I'm just saying that it can do a lot of work all simultaneously. -
Remote Start Questions
zhackwyatt replied to CNCGeek's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
My battery was in the middle and the ICE came on after about 30 seconds of sitting there. When I use the remote start the lights flash and the horn does a little chirp. Then about a second later it does a louder chirp. I think the first one is message received and the second is when the car finish the startup process. -

I'm not sure if its a soon as you unlock it or as soon as the door is opened, but it definitely shuts off. -

Do you have a VIN number? From the VIN you can get a window sticker and from the window sticker you can get a build date. However, FordService on twitter told me Window stickers are generated at the time of production. Which I think is a few days to a few weeks before the actual build date.

I think I was super lucky. With my dealer, they he asked do you want the Extended Warranty, I said no, he said ok, and moved on to the next thing.

Remote Start Questions
zhackwyatt replied to CNCGeek's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I've only had mine for a day and haven't gotten a chance to play with it much, but I do know it will start the gas engine if needed. I think its no different than if you were just idling. The Hybrid has remote start dealer installed, the Energi has it as part of the car (at least according to the instruction manual). What I don't like about it is the location of the antennae is right off the rear view mirror. The rain-sensing wipers sensor prevents the antennae from being installed in a decent place. -

Why do you say it has a built-in 3G modem? What is that used for, I thought everything went through your phone. -

I've heard of this happening a lot on other vehicles. When it encounters some kind of fault it will do a scheduled maintenance. Ford cannot push updates, they have to be done via USB. -

Ok, I added more options. I'm open to any suggestions for any other categories and such. -
Have to stay positive! I read on the blue oval forums that someone ordered a Fusion (if I remember correctly) and it got taken. Turns out the NHTSA took it while it was in transit so it could be crash tested. He had to start the whole order and delivery process all the way over again.

Thought I'd create a poll to just get a rough percentage of problems (thought it might be interesting). I think reading this forum can scare people away from the car based on all the "Dead 12 volt batteries" and this sensor or that sensor had to be replaced. Of course I think people have a tendency to post things like, "Help I have a problem" not "Hey everything is going great". So I thought it would be fun to give people a chance to voice their "Hey everything is going great" in this poll. I also thought that limiting it to at least 1000 miles of ownership would prevent things like, "Yeah I only owned it for a day, so far so good". Oh, and please don't say Yes because you can't achieve 47 mpg. We already have a good feeling of that situation based on other posts and fuelly. (Can you all tell I'm an engineer? :) )

My dealer told me it takes about 4 hours to go through the service department and then through detailing.
