MyTouch didn't want to shut off...
zhackwyatt replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Expect this trend to continue by all manufacturers as cars are becoming more and more software and less mechanical. -
MyTouch didn't want to shut off...
zhackwyatt replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Yeah, my point is: 1) Microsoft (in my understanding) is not responsible for all of the software, Ford wrote some and I think Ford subcontracted some out 2) Not all software Microsoft writes is crap 3) Not all software Apple, Open source community, other companies write are perfect -

Yes, when I made the comment I was mostly thinking about stop lights and city driving.

MyTouch didn't want to shut off...

Everytime I read something like this, a little part of me dies. Anyways, does it behave like this every time now? Or was it just a one-time thing? -
If the car isn't on, then the Hybrid battery is isolated from the system.

I don't believe long slow accelerations help either. The longer and slower you accelerate, the more the engine is running and will not kick into EV mode. If the speed limit is 45, and I accelerate from a stop light to 45 slowly, it will use the engine the whole time. By that time, either I keep driving and sometimes the car will switch to EV sometimes it won't, but in any case, before long your at the next stop light waiting for it to turn green. So you can do a long slow acceleration which is almost fully gas. The better way seems to be accelerate quickly (what ever is reasonable) get up to that 45, then take your foot off the gas and put it back on, usually this will get you into EV mode. (P&G) You will be in EV sooner instead of still accelerating using gas.

Help Ambient Lighting not working in SEL
zhackwyatt replied to vam2644's topic in General Discussion
There is a brightness knob on the ceiling. I assumed you have checked that? -
I'll report back in August (I live in Phoenix). :worship:

Welcome neighbor. Picked my SEL up in Scottsdale, special ordered.

I could be wrong but my understanding is the battery pack in the C-Max is considered to be inside the car and the leaf isn't. I mean, that the C-Max can use air conditioned cooled interior air for thermal management and the leaf doesn't have access to the cooled air.

Lost the presets on Sirius once but they came back a few drives later. Today I had the performing scheduled maintenance for the first time. It was the first day that I've used a usb flash drive for music. In the past I have only used Sirius or FM. I'm waiting to see if there is a relationship between the two. Overall I'm generally pleased with the system.

Remote Start Questions
zhackwyatt replied to CNCGeek's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
If that's true, I would like to understand the difference between yours and mine then. Once I open my door, the car shuts off. I've read this is because of the MyKey system. I'm supposed to get mine swapped out for bi-directional on Monday, so we'll see if that behavior changes. -
Traffic comes from the Sirius subscription, weather too. Ford released a free map update when they released a major My Ford touch update. They may do it again.

After 1000 miles have you ever had a problem with your C-Max?

Done -
My understanding is the Lithium battery is completely disconnected/isolated from the car when it is shut off.

How to put car into accessory mode
zhackwyatt replied to Laurel's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
My older car with a traditional key worked the same way. You turn the key to accessory mode, and most of the cars electronics work, including fan. Turn it off and everything goes away except the radio...until you open the door. This lets you use the most common accessory, the radio, without draining your battery. The only difference between having your foot on the brake or not when you push the button is whether the car has the capability to start the ICE (necessary for driving). -
How to put car into accessory mode

W/ no foot on the brake, one push turns on Accessory mode, then the second push turns it off. -
The date part is very important, my order was delayed by a few months because the date wasn't in right.

I bought a pro-clip system. Fits the car perfectly. https://www.proclipusa.com/

I agree. When I ordered the car end of July, I was given the choice of remote start or no remote start on the order form. There was no choice of bi-directional. That's why I'm trying to change it. If I had known at the time, I would have not ordered it with the car and got it later.
-
Can you post how your final remote installation turned out and how the system is working. My date is the 27th and I was told it would take a day and I'd get a loaner. Also, was this the Bi-directional one? I'm the guy with it on my rear-view mirror. I'm in the process of trying to get it switched to bi-directional and the antennae moved.

I don't want to start a flame-war, but I am so tired of reading this. I have seen it time and time again. Just because it says Microsoft does not make it suck. Software is never a perfect science. As a software developer, I have had extensive experience in Linux and Microsoft environments, and they both have bugs, they both have weirdness, and they both are not perfect. They are both massively complex.
