  1. The car cover is standard. Likely the cover was destroyed or just left out of the car when it was sold/traded in. I don't find it in any of the information -- for example, here is the 2013 C-Max brochure, and you'll notice it makes no mention of a cargo cover at all (either as standard or an option). Basically, it must seems to be considered a part of the car. The "cargo protection" is an all-weather mat to protect the carpeting in the cargo area and the "Cargo Management Package" has the soft-touch cargo organizer and cargo net.
  2. There are some incentives for buying a plug-in vehicle in Texas, though there is a limited amount allocated each year. This page shows the incentives for various states; and there are additional incentives in Austin and San Antonio. I believe the OP talked about buying used, however, and there are no incentives (that I'm aware of) for buying a used plug-in. OTOH, some dealers have been selling used Energi's for roughly the same price as the Hybrid -- I tend to see slightly higher prices for the Energi now, but often that is as much because of lower mileage (under 20,000 miles) and having a single owner, rather than a higher mileage rental/fleet car (30,000-50,000 miles).
  3. My understanding is that the Energi will not burn fuel based on range (at 1800 miles) but rather on the age of the fuel -- from what I recall it is after a year. Is this information incorrect?
  4. Congrats on the new C-Max, I suspect you'll really enjoy it. As is often suggested here, I'd take your owner's manual and go through it while in the car. In your case, spend time trying out the different features of the MyFord Touch system, using the owner's manual as a guide. It is also worth going through the displays to the left and right of the speedometer -- there are some helpful displays there. I'm not sure what you mean by "long term problems", though it seems that most people's experience here has been good -- though all cars, especially the first year model, have some issues. I expect you'll love your C-Max, as most of us do.
  5. I've been wondering when "Job 2" started. I saw it stated elsewhere, though not from an official source, that the 2013 C-Max was built until Dec 2013; I found this after it was suggested my build date, as shown on etis.ford.com, was after they stopped building the 2013s. With Adrian reporting his build date was Nov 2013, that would support 2013 production ending in December -- but the lack of sensors on the rear door handles suggests that it was a Job 2 build.
  6. Hi, I'm in Houston and there are several of us here in Texas. From reading your post, it sounds like you are looking at the C-Max Energi -- there are some differences between the Energi and the Hybrid that will make a difference. For example, the Hybrid uses the engine to heat the car, but the Energi has an electric heater. So, with the Energi, use of the heater will not require the gas engine but it will lower the distance you can travel, since it is using power from the High Voltage Battery (HVB). The A/C on both the Hybrid and the Energi are powered by the HVB, rather than run by the engine using belts, so the A/C continues to run normally even while the engine is off -- but again, it will lower the distance you can travel on electric power. So, the A/C is fine in the summer but it will hurt your mileage, and this is going to be true with the Hybrid or the Energi. With the heater, for the Energi the engine won't need to be on but it will lower your range. With the Hybrid, the heater will start the engine in the winter and run it more until the engine is up to normal operating temperature. After that, the hybrid will largely work as normal, the engine will largely be able to retain its heat (at least in Texas) for the few minute intervals when the engine is off. Remote start for the Energi can help. As long as the car is plugged in, the heater and A/C will use the electric power to heat/cool the car to your desired interior temperature, and the battery will stay charged until you are ready to leave. With the hybrid, the ICE will likely end up turning, if for no other reason than to recharge the battery -- which typically drains fairly quickly when the climate control is blowing hard. On a 21 mile commute, you should be able to make it most of the way on EV power -- though again, A/C and heating will lower your range by a few miles. If you drive efficiently, you should be able to make the 21 miles, at least from what I've heard from others, in "good" (not to hot or cold) weather. Additionally, a lot depends on how you drive and what your commute is like; not to mention, I only have the hybrid so don't have personal experience with the Energi. As for engine power -- the C-Max has very good power in hybrid mode, plenty of power from 40-60 (though obviously it won't be confused with a Mustang). With the Energi, in EV only mode, it won't have as much power since it is running solely on the electric motor. My suggestion is take a test drive -- in particular, if you are wanting an Energi, make an appointment with a salesman for a test drive and have them ensure it is fully charged. That way you can test out the performance yourself. As to the question of tint, yes, you want it. If you get the panoramic glass roof, I would get it tinted as, with the sun above you, a fair amount of heat comes through the roof. I got the windows tinted but not the roof and quickly realized I'd made a mistake. I'll likely put a lighter tint, but a good quality tint that blocks heat, so that I still have good visibility out of it. If I didn't explain something well enough, or you have more questions, feel free to ask. You might also, if you are looking at the Energi, ask these questions on the C-Max Energi forum (there is a link at the very top of the page).
  7. I bought gas yesterday for $1.889 yesterday. While gas prices stay low, you are unlikely to see much, if any, advertising for hybrids -- at least other than areas like California where EVs and hybrids are encouraged and gas is $4/gallon. Once OPEC decides it is time to raise prices again, you will start seeing hybrids advertised heavily; especially as families find they can no longer afford the gas guzzler they bought during the low gas prices.
  8. I would imagine because of the snow/salt and other dirt that occur in the winter that is horrible on the carpet in the car. In the summer, you might get some wet and dirt but it typically isn't corrosive like the salt and other chemicals used on snow.
  9. It seems like jumper cables would fit well under the driver's seat, in the compartment where the charging cable is stored in the Energi.
  10. I have no idea when they switched from building 2013s to 2014s but mine is a 2013. I suppose it could be another of those strange etis issues. Additionally, I can unlock the doors by touching a rear door handle -- which the 2014s couldn't do. Wasn't the 2014 C-Max not available until late in the year (November or December)? It is possible that they didn't switch over to building the 2014 C-Max until later in the summer.
  11. The engine doesn't necessarily keep spinning in a hybrid when placed in neutral, it depends on how the car is programmed.
  12. As I stated, the rear passenger doors do have the sensor to unlock on my 2013 C-Max. My build date per Etis is 02.06.2013 (2 Jun 2013), not sure when Job 1 production ended.
  13. I'll agree about the 2013 US C-Max, I can unlock the doors by touching the back door handles. I've not really tested it, but opening the back hatch hasn't seemed to unlock the other doors.
  14. I've had a similar question but, as near as I can figure out, the red ones are actual recalls, ones where not having it fixed is considered a safety issue and the yellow are customer service programs, where it doesn't directly impact the safe operation. For example, the battery issue is an inconvenience, since the car may not start but does not impact the safety of driving the car.
  15. As far as I can tell, if you go to the Ford Owner website, under Service & Maintenance>Recalls, after entering your VIN, it will show you the recalls/service programs that are open for your vehicle. If the 15B04 Service Action isn't listed, then it is not "open"; which should mean it has been performed on your car.
  16. No, they are there on the 2014 but you have to manually "program" them. Find the display that is labled "MyView", then push the right "button" on the left of the steering wheel and it will let you program what "My View" shows. There is a left and a right side on "MyView", the tachometer is on the left -- so scroll through until you find it then push the center button on the left side of the steering wheel, so you can program the right view -- and this is where you will find the temperature gauge. Page 90 of your Owner's Manual shows all the options available under MyView.
  17. Yes, the compass on the C-Max is lacking. Not only do they do 45 degree increments but they switch directions around on the "floating ball" compass. At a minimum, I'd prefer seeing 22.5 degree increments, though I'd love having it change by degrees.
  18. On the C-Max, the DRL are always on if the ignition is on, which can be a bit annoying. On the C-Max, the headlights act as the DRL (just in a lower power mode), so technically they are off when the headlights are on.
  19. It appears it won't happen until at least 2017, as the brochures for 2016 still show the current style.
  20. Fixed It For You -- if you notice I added Canada to your previous comment.
  21. The SEL is different. The problem is that the SE has a three position switch, the SEL functionally is only a two. The SE, you have an accessory mode -- where basically just the radio is working -- then you have an on position, and you have to turn it all the way over -- a third position -- to start it. The SE switch, if you push it once it is on and push it a second time and it is off, at its most basic. The other option is that, if you have your foot on the brake when pushing the button, the engine turns on. If you don't have your foot on the brake, everything is on but the engine, it is the same as the SE in the On position without starting the car. The SELs have no ACC position, there is no way to turn on the radio and not the other electronics. In terms of a drive in movie, this means (without daytime running lights) you still have all the console/speedometer lights on, creating a lot of light you don't want at a drive in movie.
  22. I know where the seats in my C-Max "have been". ;)
  23. You can check all Field Service Advisories for your car at the Ford Owner site, under recall. You do not need to sign in, or even an account, you merely need to type in your VIN.
  24. The 2016 C-Max brochure is listed as having MyFord Touch 3, as shown here. Also, in the picture, you can see that the MyFord Touch screen looks much different, even if you can't see the detail.
