  1.  stuck on ABBA   ! "canning helpline", too, too funny Shelly!
  2. Excellent Fotomoto! Getting that big '5' number on the left never gets old for me (esp. round trip)! Here is one I posted elsewhere, worth posting here correctly. Would like to post it in an EV percentage thread (70%) for 100+ miles, round trip; but alas we don't have that thread yet. Nick
  3. Bring it on Jus. Did I jus see a new record of XXX miles? I was jus posting to Fuelly :play: , and noticed a fresh fill up for the Champ! Congrats Jus in advance! (and I was happy with my 49.5, no comp. to the Champ  ) Nick
  4. I agree with Edsel. I noticed a very slight flaw in ours too, once we got it home. Talking with a premier bodyshop guy, he also called it a very common design flaw that shows up in stamping a large 'flat' surface. Living with it is no problem for me - as long as it stays slight. Nick (No photo to share. (May be very difficult to image))
  5. Exactly my point. A couple references to the magic 47, interplay the words "highway" & "interstate", and it gets misleading/cornfusing. Good thread. Sorry for the sidebar note intended for casual viewers. To the OP's point, If you can't get EV over 62 mph, go back to the dealer until you can; then find your own comfort speed/MPG driving zone. The car seems to require a short break-in after the update. Comfortable ECO cruising at 65 ish mph, 45 ish mpg, in 70 mph zones. Nick
  6. Very annoying that they can't give us a picture. I won't buy until I see how it fits/looks.
  7. Funny, I don't see 70, 75, 80, .... or even 65 on this EPA test "schedule" for "Highway". Remember folks (especially casual viewers) the EPA "Highway" numbers for the C-Max & all cars have nothing to do with driving the interstate at 61 mph or higher. (neither Ford nor any other car company ever claimed "Highway" numbers for Interstate Freeway speeds greater than 60) The EPA numbers are locked into a vintage 1955 two lane highway. Someone please correct me if that is wrong. Nick PS Give the EPA another 30 years, and maybe they will discover the Interstate.PSS Sadly we all readily interchange the words highway/freeway..... and get a bit cornfused.

  9. You're right C-MaxT, that's a mess. I trust you - so congratz big time 700 from me! Nick
  10. Rockin tank, Gummizilla! That one had 700 written on it - 'next time', eh. Congratz! Nick
  11. Welcome LW! We're from Seattle and visit south Surrey occasionally. We love the sunshine too, and count every ray - because we all know it is cloudy & rainy so much in the great Pacific NW. Love your area! You will need to meet Laurel! Great write up of our favorite features as well. Nick

  13. Cheers to the Third Dimension! Our C-Max loves hills! (137 miles, 8000'+ el. diffs, 56 MPG) Here is a trip that I tracked with the above links through to EveryTrail.com - pretty fun. Ignore the photos (forgot the camera at home) and click on the profile icon in the lower right corner of the map image. http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=2326989 Thanks again for the links, Frank. Nick (PS Profiles include mileage across the water, whereas, the odometer/trip, of course, does not. Our side trips coincidently added up to the water crossing distances)

  16. Could not agree more Maxgo. 'Normal' cars are kind of crazy, inefficient, 'wasteful' antiques now, and a bit boring. Like many here, I shun the hypermiling label because we have simply 'normalized' what we consider safe & efficient driving - coasting/EVing at posted speed most of the time, gobbling up brake & DHA regens, and squirting gas when we must. We (the driving public) are so trained/brainwashed to hypergas/hyperthrottle/hyperbrake, that it takes an awakening to think & drive differently/more efficiently. We (our family) are looking at the ratio of EV to ICE now, and are thrilled to be cruising along without any exhaust emissions more than half of the time. We had a day trip this week out and around the Puget Sound (Hood Canal) that involved some 'city' at 25, but mostly 35 to 55 mph speeds; lots of waterfront flats, but mostly hills & dales............. and reached the 70% EV level for the 136 mile trip!!! How cool is that, to know that most of your trip you did not spew out exhaust emissions. :jump_earth: And it is not difficult! Enjoy the journey, say goodbye to point to point explosion driving! Thrilled hypersmilers :) :) :love_shower: :love_shower: :love_shower: , N & K ......... PS And no TB's with our Max! PSS Winter; well that is another story (although it is mild here).
  17. Sorry, It has always been $550 for buyers, and $325 for leasers here in the states. (Canada more, most likely for the reason Frank stated) N
  18. Foto, I would not be the least bit surprised at a headliner squeak. Take it in and have them check to see that all attachment points are fully secured. (you may want to run your hand across the headliner checking for a loose connection point) I had the distinct pleasure of installing a new sun-shade in ours a couple months ago - the original had a stain. With utmost caution, I had to remove pillar trim, sun visors, hand-holds, control panel........ and suspend the entire headliner, so I could slide the sunshade through from back to front. Everything has to go back in a general order and screw or snap back in place. I only lost (& replaced) one or two screws - victory! Nick
  19. Yes, Frank, I assume that is the infamous seal, and those were my thoughts as well. When I put my pinkies under the closed hood, it seemed like an air-ball on the seal. I would like Ford to give us the new seal, and inspect / tweak the hood alignment in all of our 2013 C-Maxes. I think there is a chance of that. What is your C-Max hood fit like? There is also the aesthetic element here as well. Nick
  20. Just a couple observations on our Stealth Fighter & squeaks. Chatting with my wife I was reminded that you can potentially hear more 'stuff' wiggling/rubbing/chaffing (and there is a lot of 'stuff') in a C-Max because it is so quiet in EV. In non hybrids, having the 'white noise' drone of a continuously running ICE crowds out / muffles a lot of tiny noises - not the louder noises, of course. I'm sure that is one reason for the sound canceling system in the C-Max. Also, driving my VW Eurovan to work yesterday, and listening to a very nice distinct undercarriage squeak, I was reminded of the time of year ahead of us. All of my vehicles over time have always found a way to squeak more as Fall sets in. Yikes, hate to say that word, but it is approaching - SQUEAK ! Former clunker driver? Nick
  21. One weak element of the F & F on the C-Max is the front hood. I believe they have engineered a gappy fit between the hood and front cowling - which seems like it would be a sucking aerodynamic drag. I played with mine a little (I think) by adjusting the 'stoppers' (???) inside which control the maximum drop of the hood. I only adjusted a bit for side to side match. It looks like it would not be possible/advisable to adjust further because it would close in on the headlight and rub. I believe this may be universal, or at least very common. It has bugged me from 'day one'. Hope they tweak this hood or realign it in the 2014. Just two cents worth. Brilliant vehicle overall IMHO. Post script: Sure hope they offer us 2013ers a free 2014 replacement front hood gasket. 22. I agree with Ron & Frank; for a variety of reasons, a slow & steady release of a new hybrid line. I think they have their hands full in spite of minimal advertising. http://www.csmonitor.com/Business/In-Gear/2013/0910/Ford-C-Max-sales-unhurt-by-fuel-economy-flub "Ford was also keen to note that nearly two-thirds of C-Max hybrid sales came from conquest buyers, with the Toyota Prius being one of the top trade-ins." Nick
  23. We love coffee, Laurel, you are on. Not sure when our next Surrey/White Rock outing is this Fall/Winter, but will let you know. N & K (Go V. Canucks!)
  24. Great post Snit, and yes the el diffs are so very significant (PE, KE, and all that rot). Now don't get any ideas about filling up at a summit elevation somewhere and busting Jus's record mileage :secret: . Nick
  25. OK Laurel, that's it, next time we are in your neighborhood we are driving every block waving out every window! :bliss: :bliss: I really hoped we would stumble into you on our last trip  . We saw at least three C-Maxes the weekend we were there in August, if I recall. We jaunted into the big V for an afternoon, which accounted for perhaps two of the sightings. Nick & Karin
