  1. See attached picture. Mostly commuting, with city and some freeway driving, limited a/c use. Lifetime mileage is up to 42.3. I drivew with the traffic, but now pay mush more attention to ease off when a light changes or to accelerate more slowly if no one is following. Was trying for the 600 mile club, but ran a little short. I am still very pleased with this mileage: 47.0!
  2. armoredsaint, it is hard to quantify if there is any difference in distance. driving within a city with ambient lighting makes it hard to determine. I do think the light spectrum is better for clarity. Think of it being like a CFL warm white bulb with a light temperature of 2700K versus a CFL with Daylight output, light temperature in the 4500K range, the whiter the light it seems easier to distinguish the contrast. I believe jewelry stores tend toward the "cooler" light range for their display cases so that precious stones show their facets and contrast more. (another example.) See my pictures to get the difference in spectrum. I have a trip planned later this year where I will be driving in the mountains where there will be nothing but moonlight ( if any) which will give me a better chance to evaluate.
  3. Adair & C-Maxer, I tried using logic when I went out to lunch to see if I could figure out how to disable proximity sensor....and I see the word "off" on the parking assist. Went through a drive thru for lunch and volia! it stopped the beeps. Will have to check out the "shelf' in the console, did not know it was there. Thank you to all for the info you have shared.
  4. I posted this in another thread with a couple pictures: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/1195-replaced-low-beam-oem-bulbs-pictures/ I originally was going to pull out the headlamp assemblies, but managed to replace bulbs without removal. Maybe I have long fingers or something, but the toughest part was aligning the rubber boot after replacing the bulbs. I was taken to task by others, as I used Sylvania H11 Silverstar ZXEs which have a bluish glass coating. the lighting appears "whiter" to my eye in night driving. There are many others available in this size. I am glad I made this change.
  5. Adair, you have me on turning off the proximity sensor. When I go through a drive thru, the car is beeping like it's stolen! How do you disable that feature? I thought I had looked at everything in the manual.... Thanks in advance
  6. Got a mailing dated April 5, 2013 from "RDA Group" a global market research and consulting company. Asked the primary driver of the C-Max to go online and take a survey, they are also giving away prizes to 53 respondents, the highest is $3500 one at $1500 and 50 at $250. I took the survey last night, pretty typical, asked a lot of valuation type questions, not a lot of open text areas. Did my best, maybe I will get lucky? If it helps Ford and C-Max, it was worth it. Did anyone else get a letter like this?
  7. Thanks for the comments back, could be tint installers just don't like working above on a glass roof. I will admit it gets pretty darn hot in Phoenix, and that glass would get pretty toasty. If you head through a car wash or as the pther post said got into a rain storm, the temp difference could cause an issue. I may look at the vinyl cling stuff, I think I have some in my garage that I can try and already paid for. Biggest task is to get any bubbles out. Good luck to all, will post how the a/c does in the upcoming he!!ish heat.
  8. Plus3, I did about a 50 miles turn around Phoenix area on Sunday on freeways mostly at 70 or so mph. My liftime mileage is up to 41.8 and seems to be staying there. Trip 1 showed mileage over 48 last week; after the running around and with my wife sitting in back commenting on how she wanted more air, myl Trip 1 mileage is down to 46.2 this morning. I did have the shade screen on the roof closed to minimize heat transfer. When the temps get up over 100, I would guess we will take the hit on mpg. Question: when sitting stopped in traffice, I still feel a goodly amount of cold air from teh a/c system. Is it totally running off the ICE, or does it use EV power when stopped or at low speeds? I have had other traditional cars where you could tell a rise of a degree or two at idle. At least I have not experienced that with Cmax so far.
  9. Update - just spoke to a window tint business owner with over 35+ years in the business, installing tint in the Pehonix market. (For those in southern states with hot summers and intense sun, this is likley applicable.) I had him look at the pano roof to see if he could tint it. His response: "I could, but won't. There is a better than 50% chance I would buy you a new roof." His explanation was that the heat gets relected and tends to be absorbed into the glass, and breakage is common. Side iwindows have differnet angles to the sun, so the risk is much much less. I have closed the sun shade and will see how it does. Even early in this season, the heat is pretty intense witht he C-Max sitting in the open. On a good note, the a/c system seems to do just fine! Will respnd when we get to the 110+ days and see if my opinion is the same.
  10. I had Empower on left and ICE temp on right under MyView. Found out going back to standard Empower I could better gauge how I was using EV when in the mode. Lifetime mileage keeps going up, 41.8 now and current tank is running 48mpg at about half used.
  11. Plus3, the Coco mats look great. I had coco mats in a few different imported and domestic cars back in the 80's. I wish I had gone to a brown or black sisal mat when I ordered replacements for use with the Stone interior, the tan ones are not a close match. One good thing, I see the soil that the left foot is putting on the dead pedal area, which would have stained the stock carpet. I will live with them for a long while, still like the added protection and the look.
  12. HOV lane usage has been "abused" in many ways. In the late 90's AZ passed an alt fuels bill that would let you retro fit your vehicle to run on CNG as an alternate fuel. The State thought the credits would run 3-4 million and be used in commercial vehicles. Companies started putting 3 gallon CNG tanks onto trucks and cars and outfitting them for under $2000, and you could get credits in the $10K+ range. It cost AZ 100s of Millions before they figured out how to pull the plug. Any of these retrofit vehciles qualified for Clean Air plates and could use HOV lanes... Another case of unintended consequences....
  13. Nothing like driving through Northern Arizona/Monument Valley/Vermillion Cliffs area north of the Grand Canyon....remote, desolate, you see very few other motorists....with the morning sun on the rise......and with Aaron Copeland"s "Rodeo" and "Fanfare for the Common Man" blasting through the Sony....
  14. After 2+ months of driving/commuting, I would also give a resounding YES! I traded a Santa Fe that got 20 mpg in for the C-Max. The ride is quieter, the comfort and headroom is better ( helps when you are 6'6") and my lifetime mileage just ticked up to 41.0 over the weekend. It does have some quirks, like the screen does not come on, though the radio is on and working, and the phone connected. I think it is a MS thing, had to re-boot internally or something. Everyone that has ridden with me is amazed at the space and comfort, along with the rich content. This car is a winner, if people can get past the 47mpg issue. I can live with 41.0 no problem.
  15. Rob, Energi owners need to report, this is a great resource for those considering a purchase, to get real world numbers from owners. The numbers are what they are, but provide a clear picture by type of vehicle. Thanks for psoting
  16. Justin- Yes, it would be lifetime that would be reported. Dave, you other thread actually was what prompted my post. Sorry I did not recognize that the Regen miles were already included in the EV total. I will change the original post to reference the right amounts. Thanks
  17. In several threads members have posted their results as part of comments. Thought it would be interesting to post the following for the community to be able to compare. Please list: UPDATED: Dave, here is the template you used, good suggestion: 1. Model -Hybrid SEL 2. Lifetime Total Miles Driven - 1352 3. Lifetime EV miles driven - 639.8 4. Percentage drive EV to total - 47.3% 5. Lifetime Regen miles - 38 6. Lifetime mpg - 40.9 7. Lifetime brake score - 96% 8. Lifetime numbers - Dealer did "memory reset" to get rid of Check Engine light (which didn't help in any way) and my lifetime Regen number went to 0.00. They had no explanation as to why. Number shown is since the re-set.
  18. Thank you fellow Phoenix C-Max owners. Plus3, I also looked at the payback for the Energi vs Hybrid, it did not make $$ sense with the added cost of a charging station, even with credits. I do like the EV mode so just wish the range was longer...... I have also noticed that since temps have risen, EV mode is more prevalent. I have a N Phx-Scottsdale commute, so likely won't see you on the Superstition! My 8 mile morning commute was 56.1 mpg today, yahoo! Just went over 1300 miles and haven't needed to buy my third tank of fuel yet. I will run it down to the warning light comes on, to gauge how much is left. I have over 450 miles so far with just under 1/4 left on the tank
  19. I have an 8 mile commute on city arterial streets, and attempt to stay in EV as much as I can. These streets have 45 mph limits, so I will leave a stop in EV is possible, then pulse and glide using ICE up to 48 or so, then drop off and let EV keep me at 45. If not too congested, will use ECO Cruise. Some days I get tailgated by people, and will stay in ICE operation to be faster. At pushing $4 a gallon, I am ok with as much EV as I can. I kind of wish I had Energi range of 21 miles or so, would stay in EV the whole way....but no Energis available when I purchased. This mornings numbers were 49.1 overall, with 6 of the 8 miles being EV or Regen. Doing errands a couple days ago and on internal city streets, I managed a 65 mpg driving about 12 miles, but I was lucky there was little traffic around me.
  20. My wife drives a Genesis, one day we were at a shopping area and pulled into a spot. I saw the car next to me had a person sitting in the passenger seat, but was stopped, etc. We turned the car off and were about to get out when the passenger door opens part way; the person who was rather large in size used her foot to push the door open further ( you know what is going to happen) and bang right into the driver side door. No attempt to grab it or stop it. She got out and I instantly opened my door and said "hey!" she turned around and said don't worry, it's got to get a ding sometime. Arrggh! I responded that her car could also have to get a flat ttire sometime. The driver ( spouse I think) said she should apologize for banging into my car. They started arguing as they walked to the store. I moved my vehicle to a few rows away. Luckily, the car did not have a scratch or dent, we were lucky. It amazes me how cavalier people can be a out damaging others' property, but if it went the other direction would be all up in my face. Sorry for the rant. Hope your C-Max is ablwe to be put back into normal condition.
  21. Haven't seen many reports of the roof leaking, as it is fixed in place, not openable ( is that a word?) For your location and activities, I think the C-Max will work out fine. Fun to drive, handles well and quiet. I am two months into ownership, have about 1200 miles so far and am still on my second fill-up! Avg 40.0 mpg
  22. welcome low bar, enjoy discovering all the facets of the C-Max. See how your driving style is affected ( if at all) by working to max out your mileage!
  23. Another AZ Sterling Grey here, this color is great to hide our dust, plus look sgreat in the intense sun.
  24. welcome form another Sterling grey owner!
