  1. Not sure if it is an indication that my Cmax was started over and over, but as I drive by me dealer EV+ now shows ( in addition to my home and work locations). At least I keep on battery for a while near the dealer... 3.5.1 update seems to be working great, and the liftgate is now a one kick operation!! When I looked on SyncmyRide, it looks like there were about 7 or 8 "patches" that were added, from where the 3.1.3 settings showed.
  2. Noah, thanks, have read that thread previously
  3. Plus3, thanks, I was driving 101 from 56th ST down to Indian Bend, with the a/c set on Auto, and ECO cruise engaged. It was just unusual from what I had seen previously with ICE running, oh well, time will indicate if there truly is anything that is changed.
  4. Ok, I think this is crazy, but have to ask. Just gt my Cmax back after the updates were applied yesterday. It has over 3300 miles on the odo, over half in EV. Had a short errand to run last night, involved mostly freeway driving in light traffic. The Battery showed almost fully charged. Here is what I observed: Using the "Engage" mode, I saw the ICE running and was locked on cruise at 72-73 mph, and mileage side showed 60+ mpg consistently for over 7 miles of driving. Fairly level driving, typical suburban freeway in Phoenix. Temps were over 100, and the Engage showed no EV motor engagement. I have NEVER seen that kind of mpg with the ICE running, unless it was kicking over to EV. If it had been for a short burst, ok---but this was several miles. Either the display values have changed or there is an internal change to the power train management software that got applied......???? Am I just crazy or was I just lucky for a moment? Any ideas?
  5. Got C-Max back with updates doen to 3.5.1 for MFT and the Liftgate update. So far both seem to have worked, I will reload my USB and see if all indesxes like it should. Service writer did comment that i have Navigation issues that Ford is aware of problems, and the prior treatment has been to replace the Nav unit/screen/etc. to the tune of $1200 each. My dealer has been doing 3-4 of these a week. Ford is looking at another solution involving a USB based loading of data or a new screen with a built in USB port for uploads? (only repeating what I was told). I have not had Nav issues other than for an occasional sticking of the location. Was advised to bring it back if any issues are found. Downside: My lifetime mileage went from 43.7 to 43.3 while they were running and idling the ICE for the install. Arrgh! Upside: I see the cool power usage display, but not sure how long it will be used.
  6. My C-Max is going in for the 3.5.1 update (Customer Satisfaction Program 13A01) and the Liftgate re-program ( Program 13B06) on Tuesday, got the letters from Ford last week. Will update what occurs, keep your fingers crossed. I have removed the USB drive, as was suggested in antoher post. More after the service.....
  7. Plus3 thanks for the explanation on humidity. I normally have outside air entering rather than re-circluate engaged. Only use recirc to cool down initially. I did not get the Panoramic roof tinted as others have done - in fact, had tint installers say it would cause breakage. Alternative, I purchased vinyl tint film and using a little non-ammonia window cleaner and a squeegee, managed to position the film and get the bubbles out, then trimmed the edges with an razor blade. Acts like tint, but is not permanent, and hopefully won't cause an issue in the heat of AZ. It does help a bunch on the temps, but I also have the motorized screen closed. Lucky I get a covered spot at work! Summer is just our burden in AZ, let's see, we have only 3.5 more months of 100+??
  8. Plus 3, yes, the trips were a few miles in nature, making stops etc. Figured it would take the hit. ASB, I keep the temp set on 75 or so, have noticed the car stays cool enough. However when my wife gets in, the passenger setting goes to 70....oh well, happy wife, happy life! Can't say much on that one. Thx
  9. One of the "joys" of living in Phoenix is the dry heat, even when it gets to 109 in early June. Had to fill the C-Max this weekend, reset the trip mileage, and ran a bunch of places in the heat with A/C running. Mileage for the trip was in the 40.5 range, where the usual has been 46-47 mpg for me using the Trip mileage ( funny, actual mileage is lower, see my Fuelly average.) Anyone have much experience on the amount of the drop from A/C? I will still run it, but my lifetime mileage will level off ( currently shows at 43.8). Will see how Lifetime is affected on this tank by running A/C
  10. Trusting the computer in the Cmax is like not reconciling your checking account.....sure, the bank does not intend to double process a charge, but how would you know if it happened? Best to track the miles driven and number of gallons and either calc by hand or use Fuelly to calc for you. My experience, with my gauge/readings is that I put in more gas than the trip computer says I should have to.
  11. Turned off AutoPlay in the Media settings this morning, will see if the issue re-occurs. It usually happens just like colea said: run an errand, shut the car down for a few minutes, then it changes the programming on the Entertainment when you re-start. Maybe it is is Windows Sleep mode when you power off. Need to dawdle around on errands to let it finally power off? Colea, I see you are on 3.5.1, and still have the issue....so much for hoping for an easy fix.
  12. Thx AMS, will try that. Funny it should just start happening after months, but with MFT, anything is not a surprise, it is quirky.
  13. Been having a recurring problem, just the past couple weeks. If listening to USB music, change to Sirius and listening to a channel for a while....then turn the Cmax off to run into a shop, when I come back and start the car, the Entertainment screen goes back to the USB and starts playing some random song. This has happened at least 6 times in the past week. Any ideas?
  14. In early April, saw that Budget in Salt Lake City airport had 3 C-Maxes in the available cars line, but I was doing a return.... Worth asking about when you are evaluating.
  15. As posted in anotehr thread, went to a dealer run Technolgy presentation, had all types of new Ford owners there. Aplle iPhones work very well w MFT; Androids are a mixed bag. Some features work well, some not. Supposedly Ford specs what they will offer and send these specs to the phone manufacturers, who can enbale those features or not. Example: The text-to-speech feature does not work on Samsung Galaxy S2, a very widely used Android phone. It does work on the Motorola Nexus.... and so on.
  16. I have an Adroid and have had it lose the connect with the MFT. I delete the phone, also power the phone off for a minute, then go back and do the Add a Device, get the Bluetooth code and let them connect. I have had to do this 3-4 times since owning my CMax
  17. Thanks Wing and Michael, this morning the display was normal, except for the street location on Home, still not showing. Will try the Nav route thing. I know software and the systems in cars are very complicated, but just can't see how there are so many "bugs" that seem to be in versions of MFT.
  18. My SEL's system is starting to be more erratic, not showing the street on the Home scrren in the Navigation quadrant, then not showing the Entertainment content ( what was playing) on the small driver right hand screen, showing blank white blocks when Sirius pre-sets were used on the Home screen, and last, just drove about 6 miles with a totally blacked out screen on the mid-dash. I have complained to the dealer about this previously, they cleared/reeset memory as a chance of fixing it, which also cleared lifetime Regen miles driven ??? I called the MySynch help number and talked with the rep about the update to 3.5.1 that is overdue. I have 3.1.3 currently, as my Cmax was built in December. The rep said the release had not been posted for Cmax hybrid, but that the Fusion hybrid was just released and C-Max shoudl be there any day. She also said Ford would mail notification to each owner when the release was made and ready for download. I guess I will let it rest for the night and see if it re-boots/resets/dows Windows Update/goes blue screen of death. I am really challenged to know how this software, which has been around and bemoaned for years, is still this difficult to make work. We have a nav/tech system on my wife's Genesis and if over two years of driving, only had one hiccup, which was fxed by powering off the vehicle and restarting it so the screen displayed ok. I really liek the Cmax, but these quirks ( and now the intermittent Check Engine light when starting) are making me uneasy.
  19. BigRed, congrats nice to hear from anotehr above average height person (I am 6'6"). Not a lot of options for tall drivers, plus many rooflines make you duck under to get into the car, if you have any neck issues, look out (Chrysler 300 is an example). C-Max can accommodate. My 6'10" son (college hoops player) is going to be visiting in a week, will ahve to see how the seating works for him, and will report. Uh-oh, bet my lifetime mileage drops----his right foot is heavier than mine.
  20. Was quizzed by a husband and wife pushing a baby in a stroller at a Lowes parking lot last weekend. Wanted to hear about mileage ( showed them the Lifetime which is at 42.6) and were curious if their stroller would fit in the rear, so kicked the hatch opener and let them look. (It looked like it would fit). I had stuff stashed there from my shopping. They had driven a Prius but had performance concerns, but really wanted to have a Hybrid. I pointed them to the Ford dealer I used, who is about 3 minutes away, and said to drive the C-Max, that is the proof. One buyer at a time......
  21. Adair, if the phone book does not sync, you may have to delete the phone, then add it again. THough it appears to be completed, the upload can take a while, depends on the number of contacts and data you have in yoru phone and what you have sync'd. My MFT lost my phone a couple months ago )9never figured out how or why) and I had to delete it, then re-install. One other tip in case you need: I read on a Sync bulletin board that you should totally power off the phone after you have deleted the device from MFT. LEt it sit a couple minutes, then power back on and attempt to pair it with MFT. The writer contended that there may still be a connection even though you had deleted the device. Good luck, seems to be trail and error with many facets.
  22. My selling dealer holds a one hour session each month for owners of newly purchased Fords with Sync and MyFord Touch. It is presented by one of the salespeople that took it upon himself to learn and understand these services. I thought it would be helpful to offer a few observations: 1. There were about 35 people attending, with a variety of ford trucks and cars ( only 2 C-Max owners). The majority of the audience was over 40, I would guess 40% under 60 and the remainder in the 60+ age group. 2. Most had gotten little if any training from their sales person on how the Nav/Entertainment/Phone/Climate works. Most just got their phone paired and then were told to read the manual. 3. Sounds like iPhones have the best consistency working with Sync, and it was suggested to connect both by bluetooth and using the iPod cable. Androids are the wild west- some work well, some not so much. 4. Many complaints about inaccuracies in the positioning of your location with Navigation. Many displays show the vehicle well off the actual. 5. I asked regarding updates to My Ford Touch/ Sync, since as members have posted, newer builds have the 3.5.1 version, but no update for older models - no good answer on timing other than he would expect within 2-3 months.....patience! 6. Many owners do not know their vehicles' features....the other C-Max owner said he had adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and a direct link to Ford support like OnStar---- He must have bought the CMax SEL with the 305A mystery package ---LOL. 7. It was unfortunate, but one owner managed to ask a bunch of off-the-wall questions pretty much unrelated to the topics and the presenter could not get he guy to shut up....at least 10 people left in frustration cause he could not get through the overview he was doing. For the good points: - He did give a good presentation on how to use the voice command, navigation, controls, etc. Hard to do with the diversity of design, but they all basically work the same. - Pointed out there are three ways of making a selection: dash based control sreens, touch screens and hand/button controls. - Explained how your phone is responsible for certain content and how it works ( streaming vs. a push on one data file) - Talked about bluetooth content and streaming like Pandora, etc. Last I found out why I could not get the Test to Speech function working - my Galaxy S2 does not support it! Many Android phones have issue with that feature. As someone that gets a fair number of texts, I will have to see if any upgraded devices will work. There does nto seem to be much support material on what phones allow what features to be enabled. Overall, I have to give the guy credit, it was a solid presentation in a group of widely ranging comfort level with technology. He put himself on the firing line and did well. Best advice: He said "push the buttons and try stuff, it is pretty hard to totally mess stuff up unless you are hitting resets or the like."
  23. Matt, thanks for the insights. I have found the second mark on the Empower gauge for ICE level seems to be a sweet spot for not annoying other drivers, while maintaining a slightly better fuel consumption level. On typical city based trips, I attempt to get about 5mph over, then back off enough to let the ICE level drop to the bottom of the gauge, then feather the accelerator enough for the EV mode to kick in. If traffic is not congested, I will use the EcoCrusie for straight streches, but with my hand on the cancel tab. As others have stated, it is important to watch for traffic lights ahead, when you see a change, back off to coast up to the light and engage brakes lightly for regen power. It is an adjustment, but gets some added power and helps mileage. My Lifetime mpg is up to 42.6......I remember a couple months ago when it was cooler and running at 34 mpg and I thought it would never go up....and it is still increasing, but at a slower level. Good luck to all on achieving the best performance and lowest fuel costs.
  24. Great topic. Ha-Ha, my dealer set an appointment for my first oil change and emailed me the date/time in May, because " they knew I was in need of service". I think this is called a "Dealer Revenue Enhancement Program" with no clue how many miles are on the C-Max or if I need it or not. I think I will go with the first change at 5000 miles, and use Mobil1, then go every 10,000 thereafter. I've used synthetics for over 20 years and Mobil 1 has been a consistent value.
  25. Plus 3, my Fuelly record shows the accurate gallons, so in retro, didn't quite hit 47, it took 12.5 to fill, (actual mpg 42.5) -- cutting it close for me. I was on the "yellow" alert, and the computer said I had 42 miles to drive. Wanted to know what kind of reserve I might have. Shows the computer is not close in estimating fuel left. I still will work to get to the 600 club, but haven't started to carry extra fuel for the "in case" situation.
