  1. Thanks for the good words, I am going for it. Will be close enough to stations that I can fill up as soon as I hit the magic "600".
  2. Help- I am going for the 600 mile mark, currently have 526 miles on the tank with 48.6 avg mpg, and the gauge just started showing the yellow warning. Says I have used 10.82 gallons. AM I right that the capacity is like 13 gallons? If so, I should make the mark if I stay more in city driving.... Finally with A/C being off, and moderate weather, I may get to join the club!!
  3. I just think it shows the extreme smarts of people that buy a Cmax!
  4. Sad, but I have a newer Garmin that has similar issues, use it when I travel on biz. Told me I had arrived in north suburbs of Chicago, but I was in the middle of the I-94 tollway, tried backtracking, but it just could not find the place. Had to call and get directions, and it was off by a mile? Complex things we now depend on.....
  5. I had the same random Check Engine light when starting normally. After three times, I took to the dealer, this was when the car was a month old. They did some kind of reset, and it sems to have gone away. I did post an inquiry with Ford on this when it happened. Interestingly, have had a dialog with a Ford Engineering support person, asking for very specific details aout how I start the cmax, when it appeared, how it was resolved, and if it still occurs. 3-4 emails back and forth to assess if it still is an issue. I am at least grateful they are staying on top of any issues.
  6. JusACmax, I changed out CFL spots that were in can lights for the Kitchen (8 in total) a few years ago, even CFLs did not last more than 3 years, I think the on/off cycling shortens the life and this is/was a very busy area for our home. Got mine for a store in CA from Ebay, prior to general availability at Home Depot, Lowes etc. After three + years, nothing has burned out, no LEDs stopped working etc., and I don't have to lug the ladder in to get to those high ones. As information: When purchasing LED based bulbs, there are a couple things to check to make sure performance is what you expect: 1. Lumens: this tells how much "light" is generated. It is good compare with incandescent bulbs so that you get what you expect for a given application. Wide variance between bulbs 2. Output color: this references the warmth of the output. Typically they are shown as warm white (about 2700K), white/cool white (3500K) and sunlight/daylight (5000K +). You just need to know what looks you want. Many jewelers have used LED based lights in display cases to get max sparkle and intensity. LED strips are also available now, I installed them on top of and under new cabinets in kitchen remodel. Have 12 strips (I think) and when lit use about the same energy as a 40w incandescent bulb, plus almost no heat. Hope this is helpful to others.
  7. I believe the only oils on the market that have a 0W-20 configuration are full synthetics or blends, I know I have used Mobil 1 and saw a Royal Purple user in another thread with that viscosity. I read on a thread that manufacturers are now branding oil for their make in this viscosity too ( Subaru, Toyota to name a couple.) Here is a thread form Cars.com that talks about it. http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2013/08/expensive-oil-changes-are-here-to-stay.html
  8. Hannah, got the 13B07 a few weeks ago and finally needed to re-fuel. A/C season is pretty much over for the desert this year, and on the latest tank the stats show 46.5 mpg with about a 100 miles of city driving. This was in the 38-41 mpg range during a/c season, so I expect an improvement as the miles roll on. I am at only 6100 so far, so could just be finally broken in some. I will pump tires to 40mpg and hope it helps.
  9. Just looked at ETIS, I have the Door Chime posted as a recall. Hope to hear what the issue is
  10. From my experience, most Ford dealers get a dataset from Ford on the vehicles in stock, but you only can drill down into your seraches to the year/vehicle/Trim package. One good thing I saw on Ford dealers' site was that a window sticker image was available, so you could see what vehicles were ins tock and how they were equipped. It is not optimal, but about as close as you can get online. WHen I was shopping for my Cmax, there was not a lot of inventory of SEL's and dealers were unwilling to do a dealer swap. Good luck and enjoy the Cmax
  11. Mine arrived via Fedex on Monday, already deposited!
  12. My payment arrived via Fedex today. I purchased my Cmax in early January this year
  13. I have a Hyundai Genesis that fell under their program based on incorrect testing adn reporting of EPA mileage, and the adjustment they made to the window sticker mileage ratings. Hyundai got sued once this issue came out. IN that program, you have to go online to register, then go into the dealership to have the odometer read and reported, then they issue a gift card for the amount that they calculated as due. In my case, car had 15,000 miles and I got under $200 back. You have to go back periodically for updating the rebate in case you have enough mileage added to the previous reported amount. Pretty complicated and dealer has not been good about their reporting..... As others stated, Ford had enough backbone to stand up and admit the issue and make a blanket approach. In my view, it is still rare for companies to do that.
  14. mbedit, good to hear the results are moving upward. I ran some errands last night which included about 9 miles of freeway driving, getting into EV at 72 was different, but my overall mileage for the trip of about 15 miles was in the low 50's. A/C running, etc. If I can do that around the city, I am good!
  15. Finally got the Max back to dealer to see if 13B07 would update, last time they had issues and needed to wait for an update to their Diagnostic system. Will see how mileage is affected, and if any performance difference is experienced. I recently have done several hundred miles of highway driving, lifetime mileage dropped due to driving at 70+ mph w A/C running. Good luck to all. Hope there are no more updates for a while
  16. 42.9 w 5500 miles of mostly city driving. Was at 43,8 until 1) delaer had it running at idle for previous update (no 13B07 yet) and 2) it became perpetual A/C time in Phoenix. I expect once the heat leaves us, will move upward a bit.
  17. Talked with Service writer as to why 13B07 was not done yesterday, Ford issued an alert to dealers to wait for IDS Software upgrade. Service writer said it could be in the next month? ? ? They are less knowledgeable than any body...tried to tell me the 13B10 was another economy improvement- I countered with it being a mileage rating change rebate, which he then acknowledged? WTF? I guess I will go in sometime soon to try again to get the update..... Ford should realize engaged owners have access to info and the dealers are way behind in communications. I just got a letter about the MFT 3.6.2 yesterday, weeks after it was posted.
  18. CONFUSED---- CMax was in for oil change and 13B07 update- service notes say: Unable to perform recall 13B07 - Must wait until next IDS Update is released. My service writer was not available to ask. Any idea what this is about?? For me means another wasted day taking the car in for an update that should help performance at highway speeds. Not pleased
  19. Jon, I am in Phoenix and have been running A/C on either Auto setting around 74-76 degrees for most of summer, using outside air rather than recirculate setting. Only complaint is that Auto slows fan down too much and I kick it up a notch just to get more air movement, makes it more comfortable. when "better half" is with me, make that 2-3 notches up. No problems through all the 110 + temps. Have your A/C checked out, no way you should have that behavior. Good luck
  20. I am pleased that Ford stood up and admitted there was a perceived issue, and then made adjustments to the sticker to reflect it. So much for the "evil corporation" view of companies. As I stated with the mileage mod, they coul dhave just told early adopters" Tough, you are stuck with what you got" and made running changes in 2014 models and beyond. Instead they have worked to update all units for best owner satisfaction. Am having 13B07 installed Tuesday. With lifetime mileage at 43.0, I am pleased- anything over 40 is gravy! Maybe the update will improve higher speed economy as well Best to all....
  21. Finally had a chance to drive my C-Max on a road trip (not just urban freeways). Took a trip with my spouse and food and drink for total of 5 adults ( yes the rear seats were folded down and loaded with supplies) who we met in the White Mountains in Arizona. Great long weekend! Most driving was on 2 or 4 lane state highways, keeping to posted limits (usually 65mph). Seems like the car learned something in the process, as I was hitting better high mileage ratings while the ICE was engaged on the way home. Lots of up and down the mountains. See the results in the pic below. I love it! 230 miles and 3/4 of a tank left on the gauge. I hope to take the same trip in a couple months after the Fuel Economy update is installed, we'll see if there is a difference. I did not there were places running at 65-67 where it could have dropped into EV mode given conditions if the update was applied.
  22. Thank you for systematically approaching this test, it makes me want to get in for the update!
  23. There is a list of compatible devices that is on the syncmyride.com website ( or whatever it may have moved to). The list is not that up to date. From personal experience I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, pairs up fine, but the "text-to-speech" option does not work
  24. Observations: 1. It did wipe out any pre-set addresses/Favorites in the Nav system that I had set. 2. When you engage the MyFordTouch, it now shows a screen with some of the more commonly used "commands" for voice prompting. It may be able to be disabled, but I am trying it for a bit. 3. Navigation worked well on my short drive to work, no issues with finding streets or with setting the destination through verbal command.
  25. Installed 3.6, took just under 25 minutes to get the final "Success" message so don't get discouraged if the system seems to have hung. Had to re-pair my phone, but have not seen any other affects. Will try the Nav this week to see if it looks different, not sure what other changes are inside.
