  1. aschofer, it is really difficult to be "off the grid" with all the electronic transactions and devices that we use. Data is king, that is why Google has made $$ by search capabilities and manipulating that data. None of us likes the fact of being tracked or our data being used to spy on us or sell us stuff. As valkraider said, the ability to track is buried in the small print when you agree to the use of services/devices. The only alternative is to not use the electronics. Sad but true.
  2. FYI, the ijmtoy sore link in the first message had a virus/malware that my Virus protection blocked.
  3. ASB and others, I agree. I took 3 colleagues to a lunch meeting yesterday and they were amazed at the roominess and ride, especially as we were cruising along on electricity and it was Q-u-i-e-t. They even said they could not tell when the ICE kicked in, of course my ears are more attuned to it. When we got back to the office, they saw the mileage for the 8 mile trip was 42.4, so were impressed. The C-Max has its quirks, but I have no regrets!
  4. Good luck on looking for a wiring issue, this occured to a friend (mirror/garage door frame mishap) and he tried to see if the connection was torn. Hadd to replace the mirror ultimately to get turn indicator working (was not on a C-Max.) One side benefit of having the park assist is that the C-Max beeps like crazy if you get near anything, front and rear. When I pull into the garage and the front pass side bumper is near the frame of the door, it goes nuts, turns the volume down on the radio and lets you know you are near bumping into something. Same with the rear when backing up. I learned to respect that kind of beep after a boulder "ran behind" my rental car on a trip to Stove, VT, unfortunately, I did not heed the warnign quick enough, got a nice scrape below the bumper.
  5. Had the Check Engine intermittent issue, as posted in another thread. Dealer got no codes, was told by Ford to "re-set" memory. - not sure which/what that means. Strange results: 1) my EV+ settings are gone ( not a worry, I know they will come back in time.) and more unusual: 2) When I look at the Lifetime stats, my regen miles got set back to 0.00. It kept the EV miles Lifetime. Out of 1100 miles, I had close to 80 that were re-gen, so it just is a quirk - I know know the overall mpg is better than shows. Question for you other drivers: should I do a lifetime reset and let it start over? Any thoughts/feedback? Also: I have the "double-kick" rear hatch issue, has had a TSB done and in yesterdays visit they lubed and adjusted force. Still requires two kicks. Not a big enough deal for me to tie the car up for a day, but will report next time I am in. Last- if these are the only problems I can come up with, I am a happy owner, they are trifling compared to what a co-worker is going through with a new Audi...yipes!
  6. Results - dealer was advised by Ford HQ to reset the memory and see if that takes care of the issue. Kind of like Windows, when in doubt, re-boot. Will see if it fixes the issue over time
  7. Am working through the Check Engine light problem with my dealer. It comes on occasionally when the car has sat overnight when you go through the starting process. Will not show the "Ready to Drive" indication. Had to power it off then restart the process and it is normal. This had happened 7-8 times so I finally took it in. Interesting that no error codes were saved when they scanned the memory? Dealer gave me a loaner so they could keep the car overnigt and see if it fails for them. It's intermittent, so I figure it won't do it for them today. Will advise if they have any solution.
  8. I agree w Plus 3, unless you are the kind of person that constantly wants to be driving a new car. If you plan on having the car for 7 years or so, buy an ESP warranty to cover any major issues, much cheaper than leasing and turning the car. If you prefer to get a new car every three years, lease - I think you will pay more, but you can walk away at the end, especially if the car had major issues. Also, be prepared for some extra charges when you lease- there always seems to be a reconditioning fee at the end, they will say your vehicle is in average condition even it if is pristine and well taken care of. You can fight but you are also trying to get into a new vehicle......it can force you to accept low trade values and added fees. I prefer to purchase and have more control. I am planning on having the C-Max at least 8 years, since it will be used mostly for commuting.
  9. I have not looked, but typically the cabin air filter is palced under the dash behind the glove box. In sevral other vehicles, you remove supports for the glovebox and it drops out of the way, then the cabin filter is behind a panel.

    Rattles

kc - no rattles on mine at 1500 miles. Did have rattel type noice from the rear, it was the rotor on right rear wheel, bolts had been cross-threaded at factory. Dealer fixed and it is quiet.
  11. Thx for the update - do you know, are these spec'd for the European C-Max or for the US model? Not sure if there are any differences in sizing and how they will fit. If you go ahead and order, please let me know what you find. I am sure many on the Board would like to add them.
  12. Tree, there is another thread where people bought the WeatherTech mats, which I think cover the dead pedal and contain melted snow, rain, etc. BTW, I had Sisal and coc mats when I lived in Minnesota, they do have limits on holding moisture, but they dried out fine and look less industrial than the rubber style. It's all about what function and look you need. Only regret so far is not getting a darker color than the tan, but I will live with it.
  13. C-Max, I had a Durango back in the late 90's was a nice vehicle, but man it looked longinly toward any gas station I wne tbuy. 5.9L V-8 sucked down the gas! Enjoy your C-Max when you get it, it will be a fun discovery process. Going on two months, I am at 40.3 lifetime mileage and half of my driving has been done on EV or Regen power. Over 1060 miles and still on my second tank of gas. You will LOVE that!
  14. Plus 3, they do have a Brown color option, might be a closer fit to the standard Stone color
  15. I have been less than happy with the carpeted mats that came with the C-Max. Having had Sisal fiber based mats in previous european cars, I searched to find a similar product. The C-Max is so new in the US market that most do not show on many websites as an option. I found an online store that offered mats at www.autosportcatalog.com. I just installed the mats. They went for $124. My experience with sisal is that is wears like iron, can be brushed off or hosed off easily. The good: they are custom fit, and lock in securely to the two grommets on the drivers side. There is a vinyl pad/cover area in the center of the mat which protects the heel and reduces wear spots. And best for me, they also have some coverage for the "dead Pedal" area on the left, which is a big plus - mine was already showing some soil after only a couple months. The bad: color is not an exact match with the Stone interior, they are a tan rather than a taupe color like the carpets. Sorry about the quality of pictures, these are from my phone and it was dark when taken.
  16. Missy, congrats, I too used to drive an Element. You will enjoy similar utility, but a quieter ride and much better mileage!
  17. For those of us wanting to upgrade from 3.1.3: Notice on the Community section of SyncMyRide pasted 1-25 says: (MY Fusion Hybrid, C-MAX Hybrid, C-MAX Energi, and Focus Electric will be subject of a future announcement.) New vehicles may already have the update installed. I did not read the entire notice ( shame and me) and tried installing this update, messed up the nav/audio and had to do a master reset. Started over on configuration. Doh! When there is a downloadable version for 3.5.1 it shoudl reflect when you check for updates. Patience......
  18. Hollywood, me too, would order if I got my Prime free shipping. Will keep an eye on this, if you get Prime shipped free set up, please message me. Thanks
  19. I see that shipping is $21 for this item, yow!
  20. Justin, thank you for the recap and all the details. It makes me feel good that Ford is at least listening and interacting with their owners. So many times it seems to be only a one way communication. The C-Max is an awsome vehicle, more people need to knwo they can have the ride, handling, performance and decnet mileatge in a smaller very utility oriented package.
  21. I drive throughout the North part of Phoenix/Scottsdale Arizona, I think in over 1.5 months of ownership, I have only seen one other C-Max on the road. My dealer has a running group of 8-12 either on the lot or in transit, but they must be driving them and putting them in garages or hiding them. Would be nice to see a couple, instead of all the Priuses....is that a word? I have noticed that dealers have quit including C-Max in their newspaper ads; if they are listed it is just that they are available, but no special deals.
  22. Congrats nice to hear of another Sterling grey SEL w 303 and roof. Enjoy!
  23. Hollywood, thanks for posting, but I believe that video is for a European version of C-Max. The headlamp assembly is different in the US Hybrid version.
  24. Be careful about applying updates....someone who shall remain un-named ( me) was on the Sync website and downloaded and installed a Sync update. Only later, after it was no longer working, did I realize it was an update for Sync, not for Sync with My Ford Touch. Ooops! That's what happens when you do not read thoroughly. A Master reset and things are back to normal, thankfully!! Had the worst problem syncing my phone with the newly reset Sync. Found out you have to delete Sync from your phone and power off, removing the battery. When the Sync finds the phone and generates the Bluetooth code, you say Find Other and then search for the phone, it sets it up as a totally new device rather than attempting an old connection. I really am better at following directions, but messed this one up. Word to the wise...
  25. BillN, I have not had need to use it, bought it as "insurance" from being stranded with a dead 12v, hoping it could provide enough power to allow the C-Max to start. If all fails, a tow truck is the only answer. My concern comes form living in the desert heat, which eats up batteries, and most times you have little or no idea your is about to die. Hope I never have to use it, but its, kind of like a spare tire....oh wait, we didn't get one of those....!
