  1. then it would be rebooting every morning considering the job I retired from, every car I drove did not need gps to find the Donut shop, still get them free even though I retired. never drove a department crown vic though
  2. Pattern I see is it has rebooted every sunday morning when I go out to get a cup of coffee and some donuts around 4:30 - 5:00 Am
  3. Ok, lets narrow it donw to 1 Samsung smartphone http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/samsung-galaxy-s3-outsells-iphone-5-to-remain-uk-s-most-popular-smartphone Sorry - miss stated is - Siri is a lot worse then Sync, and Sync navigation is light years ahead of the failed navigation application that Apple placed on their phone when they forced Google off of Itunes, good thing is now that the MS Winsows 8 and the surface is shipping we can get rid of the 400 ipads that are in use in the clinics here and not have to write a second application for something we already have. Going to be fun shredding all those ipads since they where in use in bio-hazardous environments
  4. Out of curiousity, I ran it through the SafeLite instant quote - 348.95 for Windshield green tint rain sensor, solar, with third visor band, soundproofing
  5. Isn't that the beauty of free will and free choice in this country? You can buy what you want, when you want and how you want, even if you can;t afford it. Commercialism at it's best, it is what keeps free enterprise running in this country. Freedom of choice is wonderful you don;t have to justify it to anyone, not even yourself. I am with RachelnLA - I detest 4 wheeled cages and inattentive drivers which is why I am glad that use of a cell phone is becoming a stoppable offense in some areas
  6. Or they have needs that are not meet by a small vehicle - like trailing 3 motorcycles, hauling a family of 7 around, short memories would be a minor reason, life requirements would be the major reason. I drive a c-max for noraml, but have a F-250 with extended cab and long bed, my wife drives a Honda Odyssey that seats 8 - and is getting an average of 28 mpg highway, just 5 mpg less then what I am averaging on the C-Max
  7. Never used the maps application on the iphone 5? first time I used it, my destination was indicated be int he middle of the San Francisco bay and it got worse from there
  8. Sorry but "most of america" does not own a iPhone, Samsung has the market share right now http://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckjones/2013/01/25/samsung-increasing-its-smartphone-market-share-vs-apple-and-the-rest-of-the-pack/ Siri is just as bad as sync
  9. And you can see how well that has worked over the years - all of the major manufacturers are still making and selling these gas guzzlers and they are selling very well. higher gas prices only hurt the end user and fill the pockets of the oil producers.
  10. Same here, never knew it was there
  11. I drive my c-max as I do any other car that I have owned in 50 years, 95 percent of my mileage is highway, it goes to 60 MPH, cruise control (experimented with both ECO and regular settings) gets turned on and stays on, avg temp has been 40 - 45 degrees. The car was just in the dealer last week for a "examination" due to the poor gas mileage, 4 days later I picked up the car with no problems found. Plugs where fine, the blackbox showed exactly what I said - average of 60 MPH on cruise control for the majority of driving. I have a excellent relationsip with the dealer since I have been leasing from the same exact dealer since 1975 and getting 2 new leases every 24 months on the nose.
  12. where exactly did I say that I always accept "anonymous users posting on the internet"? CR is supposed to be a upstanding, accurate organization - as they so well toot their own horn, but given the track record and the simple fact they have posted information on how to bypass contractual agreements recently, I would trust a post from a random user before I would trust anything that they state. Sometimes you just have to go with it, if 3 or 4 people post then it is questionable, but there are to many reports of the same issues that tends to lend a portion of credibility to the chain.as far as your comments about lawsuits and filing / joining one don;t make unfounded jumps to inaccurate conclusions / assumptions, have no desire to join or file one, no way would I do anything to put a penny in a lawyers pocket - my attitude toward lawyers is best summed up in Red Heat with Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Belushi when they are discussing lawyers - rent a copy and find out what it is. Probably know better then you that life is unfair, don;t really care though, I have had people come up to me and ask me about the car - I am brutally honest, the car in itself is great, but if you are basing a purchase on fuel economy - don;t Sorry but do not see the valid complaint of poor miles as "choose to approach your problem in a negative or destructive way and reinforce our image as whiners and lazy people." see it more as the brutal truth and you should know truth hurts, how exactly is the whining, it is not unless you have your own definition of whining.

  14. Given the number of posts on this forum and other forums related to abysmal gas mileage I suspect that the ones that are getting +40 are the ones in the minority. As far as Consumer Reports go would not even use that rag to line the birds cage, I have a problem with a "consumer organization" that actual posts ways to bypass contractural requirements on smartphones with carriers, seems a little hinky for a "respected" organization. There reputation for accuracy has always been in question, epsecially on some of the major screwups that then printed and later where shown to have used inaacurate and total incorrect testing proceedures. Given that I and many others that I have seen posting i the various forums would love to be off by a measly 6 or 7 mpg, not 15 - 18. If I can get the combine average on a Ford Escape with no problem, I should be able to get a lot better mpg then what I am actually documenting. You may not be concerned but a lot more driving then you, gas prices are higher here and I am not seeing any ROI with the C-Max as it stands. What is little concern for you is a larger concern for those that do not have your situation. If the EPA's testing proceedures are that far off with Hybrids then the sticker should have been marked "Not Available" and not some pie in the sky number. Right now if I could go back in time I would have taken the deal on the Focus Titanium over the C-Max, would have saved me money on the cost of the car and would have on the monthly lease payment and my auto insurance while paying just about the same amount for gas. Crass Action suits never "go nowhere", the lawyers are always paid no matter what the ruling is, the injured consumers are the only one that lose in that situation.
  15. the "flawed testing proceeds" are not that flawed http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/PowerSearch.do?action=noform&path=1&year1=2010&year2=2010&make=Ford&model=Escape%20FWD&srchtyp=ymm traded a 2010 Ford Escape in on the c-max, the link shows 21 City 23 Combined 28 Highway My tracking spread sheet for 2011 - the last full year that I owned the car shows this Avg price per gal 3.397 Miles driven - 13,904.3 Gallons used - 554.893 MPG - 25.058 cost - $1,885.23 If you notice the car was exceeding the EPA total average MPG of 23 MPG, while I have documented of 25.058 for 2011 Now for 2010 Avg price per gal 3.207 Miles driven - 13,601.3 Gallons used - 525.749 MPG - 25.870 cost - $1,686.05 Now for a month to month comparison November 2011 Ford escape Avg price per gal 3.034 Miles driven - 1,043.7 Gallons used - 42.182 MPG - 24.743 cost - $128.00 November 2012 - C-Max Avg price per gal 3.046 Miles driven - 1,232.6 Gallons used - 35.034 MPG - 35.173 cost - $106.00 As you can see by the comparison, the Escape is still within the parameters posted by the EPA, while the c-max is below it, seems not to be "faulty testing procedures" to me. when I plug the actual numbers for costs any my mileage drive into your link, it is closer to 400.00. I don;t do 10,000 closer to 15,000 miles and I just paid 3.58 a galleon for gas, that was down 6 cents from last fill up.

  17. MFT absolutely does have to do with the reliability of the car when things like climate control and hands free phone (required by law in my state) are run via MFT. And I never said Apple was perfect, or Apple maps was brilliant. I know it has problems, I personally prefer Google maps. I said MFT is Typical Microsoft crap - on the scale of Vista and Bob... I am not sure why you are hell bent in defending this. It is well documented since 2011 that MFT sucks and has damaged the usability, reliability, and customer satisfaction of Ford vehicles. Ford has taken a beating due to MFT, and even extended their MFT warranty to try and help people feel better about buying a Ford with MFT. This all happened before I even ordered my c-max. My personal experience is MFT is still buggy as hell and unreliable, and they for some reason are holding on to the update for us much longer than they should. When you release a brand new new product line it is generally good to have the software updates ready for the release... They should have had MFT 3.5.1 ready and MFM operational for c-max before the end of the year - preferably before November. The whole car is buggier then hell, was approarched in the parking lot last night and asked my recommendations on the car, my response was if you want it for the ride and the room then go for it, if you are looking at it from the mpg prespsective the walk away from it. Since when is having a different opinion "defending" something? I agree it has some issues, just not as important as others that the car has.
  18. And I am just pointing out that Apple objects are crap also. You are one of the few that have not had issues with the Mapping app that apple put out, when a company fires the person in charge of the project you know it is bad. There are tons of complaints on the net about the navigation application Been driving fords since 1968, MFT to me has absolutely nothing to do with the realiablity of the car, at this point it is a inconvience at best. Right now Ford's reliablity is taking a beating on the mileage issues. As far as your radio complaint, my wife has a windstar, the radio not turning off when the door was opened has happened to her also. The vehiccle does not have sync.
  19. I never expect to get what the EPA rating is, but I do expect to get 85 - 90 percent of it given past experiences, not in the 65 - 70 percent of the rating.
  20. /rolf have you tried Apples Map application in IOS-6? Typical Apple Crap, used it a couple of times when I needed directions, first time put my destination in the middle of the Potomac River, the second time put my destination location on Alcatraz Island - they fired the guy that lead that project. Needless to say I downloaded Google Maps as soon apple realized how bad the app was and authorized it again on Itunes, head the beta test team was lost someplace in Zanzibar when they where trying to get to the McDonald's down the street and I think this poor lady was using it http://www.inquisitr.com/480454/belgian-woman-confused-by-gps-takes-900-mile-detour-through-6-countries/
  21. the bumper stickers on the back of the car tend to stop people from tailgating "Remember this is concealed carry state" "do to the rising cost in ammunition, warning shots will no longer be fired"
  22. about 1 percent of my driving is "short trips" my primary daily drive 6 days a week is round trip of approximately 59 miles, with 57 of them on highway, the only short trips I make is to the grocery store and my estranged wife's place to pick up the kinds on the weekend. If I have any grocery shopping or other errands to run I incorporate them into my round trip for work. Lets stop blaming the drivers habits Ok? I repeat, I love the car just not happy with the gas mileage, should have kept the escape or gotten the titanium
  23. current outside temp is 40 to the high today of 68. I won;t do grill covers, if the car cannot get the near the advertised mileage then I would have been better off with the focus titanium. If they increase the mileage then the manufacturer should have had them as standard equipment. as far as MPG, don't depend on what is stated, i compute my own in a spreadsheet. The mileage numbers are way off, that is the accurate statement,
  24. I lease so I keep accurate numbers on mileage vs lease maximums, like I said that is my average - as far as speeds go, since I am never off duty anyone that screws with me when I am in my personal vehicle will have a surprise for them, the portable red flashing light is always there. I don't give the 5 mile an hour freebie if you tailgate me and have never given a warning ticket in my career
