  1. Heck yeah! My first criteria was a vehicle comfortable enough for long road trips, a large enough rear area for three beagles, an automatic transmission, and MyFord Touch/navigation. That pretty much meant Escape, Focus hatch, or C-MAX. Next came fuel economy, so C-MAX is far and away the winner, old fuel economy rating or new. Based on my first two tanks, and my first few trips, I think 45-47mpg lifetime should not be all that difficult to attain. It seems my really short trips (3-5 miles to the gas station/grocery store) are the biggest killers. Anything over 7 miles or so, and it's easy enough to hit 45mpg for the trip.
  2. Second fill-up: And I just love seeing this!
  3. We have two beagles that I'd love to keep in the rear area, and they're limber enough to jump over the rear seats. Solution: pet barrier! Problem: the only custom-fit variant I found is for the European C-MAX, and I'm awaiting confirmation from @FordService on Twitter as to exactly how the US and European C-MAX differ in terms of interior dimensions and arrangements. The Travall pet barrier I want can be seen here, along with pics inside a Euro C-MAX: http://www.travall.us/ford-c-max-mpv-5-door-2010-2013-pet-barrier-p1530 So, question is, has anyone tried this? If not, have you found a viable alternative? Thanks!
  4. A very happy birthday to Grouper from Maxine and her adopted family! :)
  5. That's my plan - do the paintless dent repair and touch up the ding with Dr. ColorChip, which I've used in the past and is very successful. It's more the principle of the thing at this point. I had a pristine car for about a week!
  6. Can anyone else get to Fuelly? I've tried in both Chrome and Internet Explorer, and I'm getting site not found errors.
  7. The parking garage at work has narrow spots, so they can cram more cars inside. I loved the fact that the C-MAX was, for its volume, a narrow car, and I figured I'd have no problem at all. I was wrong. Found this after work yesterday: (Pardon my feet!) I don't even have my MD tags yet, and I've only been to the office three times, and this happens. It's right on the edge of the passenger side front fender, so the dent will be almost impossible to fix without removing the panel, and the paint is completely chipped, which means repainting the fender, door, and probably hood as well. I expected some dings and dents along the way, but not so soon, and not so horrendously big and bad! People have NO regard for other people's property anymore. It's a disgrace. I would LOVE to meet the person who did this and ask him/her just what they were thinking. Do they think it's okay to damage someone else's property? No note, nothing. If I damaged someone's car like this, I would have left a note and offered to pay. A few years ago, my wife and I were at the track (took my Shelby to a high-performance driving event). Our tent got blown over by the wind and scratched an F-150 Raptor next to us. We pointed it out and gave the driver our info. Ended up costing us $700 to repair. I didn't mind doing it; what I minded was the fact that not ONCE, when I pointed it out, when I offered to pay, or even once repairs were complete and I paid, did he thank us. Nothing. Just acted angry and kept wanting to blame us. I give up on humanity sometimes. :\
  8. Best trip mileage yet, and my braking continues to improve. I love this car!
  9. Congratulations! The agonizing wait is finally over!!! :congrats: :yahoo: :woot: :bliss: :happy feet:
  10. Welcome to the C-MAX family! My wife and I are also engineers, and we quickly came to the conclusion that the C-MAX Hybrid was the perfect car for our requirements! There's a ton of great information on this site, as well as tremendously friendly and helpful people.
  11. Good thing Ford is revising the mileage figures down for this car... ;) And my braking scores are improving!
  12. Finally got my first EV+ today, coming home from breakfast with my wife! And this was the mileage result!
  13. I know the feeling all too well, slampro. The last few days are the hardest. Just think about the sweet $550 additional "rebate" you'll soon be receiving! ;)
  14. Maxine! :) She has a theme song, too (I'm a huge Genesis fan, so the fact that it's a Mike Rutherford song makes it that much better!): http://youtu.be/cRfe9qslTdo
  15. I'm checking this thread as often as I checked my railcar! Getting so close now...it'll be there before you know it!
  16. Howdy, Robert! I seem to spend a lot of my day on your sites, between here, Blue Oval, and Team Shelby! Hope Dearborn 2013 was a blast!

  18. Stopped for my first tank of gas in Tappahannock, VA on the way home from Williamsburg this morning. Gallons: 11.563 Price/Gal: $3.259 Total Price: $37.68 Odometer: 501.1 miles Fuel Economy: 43.3 mpg Not bad for my first tank! Lots of highway cruising at 62-65 mph, with some short spurts of 70-72. Looking forward to a full tank of commuting. Unfortunately, I'm going away for work this week, so poor Maxine will be in the company of many strangers at DCA's economy parking lot. Hopefully I'll get a Ford rental, at least!
  19. The suspense is terrible...I hope it'll last!
  20. Like Jus said, it was one squirt of the ICE too many. I had to merge quickly onto the interstate, which pushed me above the second bar.
  21. Model: C-MAX Hybrid SEL (302A) Original Estimate: 6-8 weeks Ordered at Dealer: 5/18/2013 Order Placed at Factory: 5/24/2013 VIN Assigned: 6/14/2013 Window Sticker Available: 6/28/2013 Build Date: 7/11/2013 ETA: 7/29/2013 Actual Arrival at Dealer: 8/6/2013 State: MD (dealer in VA) Figured I'd update this one last time as another data point for those who are anxiously awaiting their orders and want some idea of what it took!
  22. Here's the last tank I mentioned -- as I clicked to take the picture, my wife opened the door. This was the result (I just had to). And here was our trip from Yorktown back to the hotel. Not great, but not bad, either!
  23. Indeed I do have 13B07 installed. It appears that all Job #3 C-MAX Hybrids (built after July 8) have it from the factory.
