  1. Keep checking for your window sticker every day...one day, magically, it will appear, with a build date on it! Generally, the window sticker will become available 1-2 weeks before your build date. After that, if you have Twitter, send a direct message (DM) to @FordService with your VIN, and they can give you an ETA to your dealer. If you want even more detail, join Blue Oval Forums, make 15 (useful) posts, and post your VIN in the Tracking Requests forum, generously run by user cyberdman. Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum! :)
  2. So I'm getting very impatient and excited...tomorrow my Maxine is scheduled to be brought into existence! :happy feet: T-minus 19 days and counting until the current ETA to my dealer. I feel like time is standing still! :banghead:
  3. I did the Washington, DC event on June 29. It was a lot of fun! There were three basic test areas: a head-to-head competition through an auto-cross type course between the Ford Fusion and the Toyota Camry, and the Ford Escape and the Honda CR-V (each of the competitors is the sales leader in its class); a hypermile course with the C-MAX Hybrid and the Fusion Hybrid, and finally the ST Academy with the Focus ST and Fiesta ST. The head-to-head competition was eye opening, to say the least! The Fusion was a 2.0L EcoBoost AWD Titanium, against a Camry XLE V6 AWD. No contest here - the Fusion handles better, turns better, accelerates better, and has far superior interior design and fit/finish. The Camry had the worst steering I've ever experienced in a car. The Escape was also a 2.0L EcoBoost AWD against a CR-V AWD (I-4 only, they don't offer a V6 or turbo-4 with the CR-V), and while the CR-V was decent, the Escape was also better in every way. I must say, if Ford offered the Fusion wagon here, I'd be getting a 2.0L EcoBoost Titanium AWD Fusion wagon instead of the C-MAX...it's that awesome! Fuel economy would certainly suffer, but what a ride! The hypermile challenge was unwinnable when I arrived - they had hourly competitions for best mileage on the 1-mile loop, and the highest for my hour was 999.9! (Someone got lucky enough to get the C-MAX Hybrid with the battery fully charged.) I managed 46.8mpg without really trying, and ensuring I kept the speed up (25mph in turns, 30mph in straights). Not sure if the 999.9-mpg guy ever hit the required speeds! Best part was the C-MAX Hybrid I used for this run was EXACTLY what I'd ordered - Sterling Grey SEL w/302A and moonroof. I was told I could not just keep going and take it home! The ST Academy was supposed to be the most fun, but in fact it was the least! You got 2 laps - one familiarization lap, and one timed lap. Naturally, when I ran it the timer was busted, so I never got a time. You had to stay in 2nd gear the entire time, and you only got one lap before you had to wait in the entire line again. I chose the Fiesta ST because, according to reviews, it improves on the Focus ST's handling and suspension in several ways. The course was challenging, and I could never really get it fully up to speed, but it was certainly responsive! As a gift, you got a Ford lanyard to keep (from your event badge), and a pair of Ford-branded earbud headphones. All in all, quite an entertaining way to spend a few hours! Highly recommended!
  4. My first car was a gorgeous blue 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis 2-door coupe, fully loaded. She was a mechanical nightmare, but she rode like a dream, and she represented FREEDOM! She got maybe 12mpg, but in 1998 regular was $0.98 a gallon, so even on my teenage salary I didn't mind. When she finally died, I got a 1992 Toyota Camry, base model, no power anything. A nice reliable transportation appliance, but about as much fun to drive as you would expect.
  5. I hate to say it, but it sounds like your dealer simply didn't want to be bothered. They have access to the same system the Ford Twitter folks do, and they easily could have produced that info. Wonder how the dealer will respond to your email?!
  6. Another way to track, if your dealer isn't giving you the information you want, is via Twitter. Ford has an excellent customer service staff that monitors the @FordService account Monday to Friday, 8AM to 8PM Eastern time. If you have your dealer code and order number, they can look up your VIN, otherwise they can give you the estimated build date and arrival date at the dealership.
  7. Um...I think I can, every now and then! :shift: (That's me in my 2007 Shelby GT500 on track at Virginia International Raceway back in 2011.) In all seriousness, I am Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde when it comes to driving. Behind the wheel of the Shelby, I'm a maniac - because the capabilities of the car allow me to be...heck, it encourages me to be! But when I get behind the wheel of a hybrid, my entire outlook changes. My wife used to have a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid, and it would drive her nuts that I would gain her 1-2 MPG every time I drove it for a day or more -- I drove in a very eco-friendly way! I actually can't wait for my C-MAX to be delivered, because I believe it will lower my blood pressure considerably. My Focus may not have the power of the GT500, but it's a 5-speed manual, so it's fun to toss around, and as a result, I can drive pretty, ahem, aggressively on the way to work. That just leads to frustration, anger, and an overall unhappy commute. I am looking forward to the peaceful, technologically advanced zen that Maxine will soon bring to my commuting! :yahoo:
  8. I describe the C-MAX to co-workers that never saw one before as either (a) a 2013 Escape lowered to car ride height, or (b) a 2012+ Focus that someone stuck an air hose into the tailpipe and inflated about 15%. :)
  9. "Ford C-MAX Hybrid: seat heaters so strong, they'll move you to heat-stroke-induced rage! Ford: rage further."
  10. That's fantastic! Did anyone film this for posterity? :hysterical:
  11. The input from many, many users here, including myself above, seem to contradict that particular statement. Might want to find someone else at that dealership that will help you. If you have a Twitter account, I've found that contacting the Ford Service account (@FordService) will yield you near-immediate results (the account is monitored Monday-Friday from 8AM to 8PM Eastern). You can send them a Direct Message (DM) if you don't want to broadcast your order number/VIN to all of Twitter. Just give them your order number and dealer code and they can look up the VIN for you.
  12. That's what I'm hoping - like I said in the other thread, I have the $750 brochure rebate that expires August 3, so any day before that would be fantastic. Dealer currently shows an ETA of July 29, so we'll see!
  13. Update! I've been obsessively checking the URL for my window sticker every day. Last night, no luck...this morning, voila! Window sticker! Has a build date of July 11. Can't wait! Here's hoping for an on-time build and prompt shipping...I have the $750 brochure rebate that expires August 3!
  14. Model: C-MAX Hybrid SEL (302A) Original Estimate: 6-8 weeks Current Estimate: Scheduled to Day (7/11/2013) Ordered at Dealer: 5/18/2013 Order Placed at Factory: 5/24/2013 VIN: 6/14/2013 Window Sticker Available: 6/28/2013 Build Date: 7/11/2013 ETA: 7/29/2013 Actual Delivery: TBD State: MD (dealer in VA)
  15. My go-to dealer (and website) for the Ford ESP extended warranties was always Lombard Ford in Barkhamsted, CT (www.fordwarrantys.com), but I found a dealer that beats them in price: Anderson and Koch Ford in North Branch, MN (www.andersonandkoch-ford-warranty.com). A&K quoted the 125,000-mile/84-month/$200 deductible ESP PremiumCARE (highest level) warranty for $1,400. They also quoted (via e-mail, not available on their website) $1,425 for the ESP maintenance plan (125,000-mile/84-month/10,000-mile service interval) if purchased at the same time. My dealer (Sheehy Ford) initially quoted about $2,800 for each, but when I gave them the A&K quotes, they came down to as low as they could get ($1,625 on warranty, $1,585 on maintenance). Turns out that the more warrantys/maintenance plans a dealer sells, the lower price they get from Ford, so a dealer like A&K that is probably the #1 online seller of warrantys/maintenance plans can offer a lower price than Sheehy. GIven that I could roll the plans into my financing if I bought through Sheehy, I felt the slightly higher price was worth it. So, if you're willing to buy separately from your vehicle, I definitely recommend A&K. At the very least, get quotes and use them to bring your dealer's price down. It can't hurt to try!
  16. Yeah, you're probably right...definitely want to keep the missus happy!!! :hysterical:

  18. Another update! Scheduled to the week of 29 July! Getting closer! I would LOVE to have a build date of 7/31. That's our wedding anniversary! :)
  19. Blend Date: The date that MP&L determines when the order will be built within the assigned day. When they figure the specific order that vehicles will be built. This depends on options and line constraints.
  20. Okay, I redeemed myself! I found the complete glossary of status terms used by the current Ford scheduling/ordering system. I created a new thread here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2274-dealer-status-inquiry-glossary/ You can pin that one! :)
  21. The purpose of the Dealer Status Inquiry Glossary is to define status information on units within the distribution system. Dealer Status Report messages have been improved and expanded, making it possible for dealers to closely monitor the status of units from order entry through delivery. Listed below are the possible status messages you may see on your Dealer Status Report. Included are explanations and instructions you should follow when a unit has been in a particular status over the length of time indicated. ARR AT RAMP (Arrived At Ramp): Your vehicle has arrived at the ramp and has been unloaded. The rail car which contained your vehicle is displayed in the STATUS/RAIL CAR - DESCRIPTION column. ARR US PORT (Arrival at U.S. Port Facility): Your imported vehicle has been unloaded from its ship and has been delivered to the port facility. ASGN TO DLR (Assigned to Dealer): This vehicle has been assigned to your dealership. AT SEA: Your imported vehicle is enroute to its Port of Entry. BALANCE OUT (Model Year Balanced Out): Order will not be produced. BUCKED: Your order has begun production. CANC AT PLT (Cancelled at Plant): Your order has been cancelled. COMPAT (Compatibility Error): Your order contains a compatibility error and cannot be scheduled until the error is corrected. COMPAT/HOLD (Compatibility and Material Hold): Your order is being held pending resolution of a production hold for material and a compatibility error. DEL TO DLR (Delivered to Dealer): Your vehicle has been delivered to the location designated in your order. DIVERT FROM (Field Diversion From): This vehicle has been diverted from your dealership to another dealership. This vehicle will cease to appear on your status reports. DIVERT TO (Field Diversion To): This vehicle will cease to appear on your status reports. DLR PICKUP (Dealer Pickup): Your vehicle has been picked up at the ramp by the dealership's representative. DVO DELAY (Damaged Vehicle - Delay): Your vehicle has been damaged in transit. Further shipment has been suspended pending the disposition of damage. DVO TERM (Damaged Vehicle Operations - Termination): It has been determined that the damage to your vehicle is sufficient to warrant cancellation of delivery. EXPORT/SHPD (Export Vehicle Shipped): Export vehicle has been shipped. Vessel name will be indicated. FOREIGN PORT: Your imported vehicle has been delivered to the foreign port of embarkation for shipment. FRM BODY CO (From Body Company): The body company has completed its modification and returned your vehicle to the assembly plant for shipment. FRM STORAGE (From Storage): Your vehicle has been picked up at the ramp by the dealership's representative. FRM TEST CTR (From Test Center): Emission testing has been completed and vehicle has been released from test center for shipment. LOCKED-IN (Production Locked In): Vehicle material has been procured for vehicle build. Vehicle is within ten days of production and specification changes will not be accepted at this time. MATL HOLD (Material Hold): Your order is being held pending resolution of a production hold for material availability. Your order may be held pending finance approval. MEMO CONSGN (Memo Consignment): Vehicle has been shipped to the body company for modification or completion of the assembly process. PRODUCED: Your order has been produced by the assembly plant. REINSTATE: Your previously cancelled order has been instated. REL FR PLT (Released by Foreign Plant): Your imported vehicle has been released by the foreign assembly plant. REL TO CVY (Released to Convoy): Your vehicle has been released to the carrier pending convoy shipment. REL TO RAIL (Released to Rail Yard): Your vehicle has been released to the carrier pending rail shipment. REV SPECS (Revised Specifications): The vehicle specifications in your scheduled order have been changed. This message will remain until plant status changes (i.e., locked-in or bucked). SCHEDULED (also called Segmented): Your order has been assigned to a segment (production) week. The week to which it has been assigned is listed in the column headed "SHCD DATE" and is identified by the date corresponding to the Monday of that week. Specification changes will NOT be accepted if the "SCHEDULED DATE" is within ten working days of the current date. SHPD CONVOY (Shipped by Convoy): Your vehicle has been shipped by haulaway truck carrier. To determine if this is an indirect or direct shipment, locate the ramp code corresponding to the vehicle in question in the "RAMP" column of your report. If a ramp code is displayed, the shipment noted is an interim one (i.e., a shipment involving multiple carriers). This ramp code will identify the location at which the vehicle will change carriers, i.e., to another haulaway or rail. If no ramp code is displayed, the vehicle's next destination is the location to which you designated the shipment. SHPD RAIL (Shipped by Rail): Your vehicle has been shipped via rail carrier. The rail car number on which your vehicle was loaded is displayed in the "STATUS/RAIL CAR - DESCRIPTION" column. SUB TO PLANT (Submitted to Plant): Your order has been serialized and is awaiting scheduled date and ETA. TEMP DELAY (Temporary Delay): Your order has been assigned to the Serialized Order Bank pending resolution of a condition causing a temporary delay in production. Scheduled date will be "T.B.D." (to be determined) until order is released from Serialized Order Bank. TO BODY CO (To Body Company): Your vehicle has been shipped to the body company for completion of the assembly process. TO STORAGE: Ford Motor Cpmpany use only. TO TEST CTR (To Test Center): Your vehicle has been selected to undergo emissions testing. UNSCH/CLEAN (Unscheduled - Clean): Your order has been received by Ford Motor Company and is awaiting selection by COS for submission to the assembly plant.
  22. I was in Chicago last weekend, and my friend's parents have a 2010 Prius with about 12,000 miles on it (they live in the city, so don't drive very often). I was appalled at the fit and finish, ride quality, cheapness of the digital displays, and overall ergonomics. Way back in 2003 I test drove a Prius and was impressed compared to its contemporaries. I had a 2003 Corolla, and it was way ahead of its contemporaries then. It's amazing how far Toyota has fallen. So, no, Jus - I don't think a test drive is worth my time! :hysterical:
  23. For some reason, this seems appropriate (some not-safe-for-work language): Okay, so it's I-V-vi-IV, but still!
  24. Patience?! Ask my wife and co-workers about my "patience"! Not so much! :hysterical: Thanks! This is a wonderful, supportive community, and I'm so happy to be a part of it! :happy feet:
  25. Hmm, looks like my info might be a bit out of date! According to cyberdman over at the Blue Oval Forums who generously provides tracking on vehicle orders, they have not used those milestones in years. I'll confess, the last time I looked for those dates was in 2007, so it's entirely possible that Ford has completely changed their scheduling system. From what I can determine, the order status goes from UNSCHEDULED - CLEAN, to SCHEDULED TO WEEK (MM-DD-YYYY), then to SCHEDULED TO DAY (MM-DD-YYYY) or, if changed, RESCHEDULED TO DAY (MM-DD-YYYY). Following that, it's details on location (Gate, Ramp, or Railcar No.). Sorry for the possible confusion!
