  1. I've been wanting to try one and at your price, I'll give it a shot. I'll shoot you a PM. Thanks.
  2. Oh, I am. Prius hypermilers can get 700 and even 800 mile tanks on even less gas (11.x gal tank). They're easy to spot as you'll see bicycles passing them.
  3. Question for Jus-a-Cmax and PTjones, what are your general HVAC settings?
  4. One possibility is it that it's YOU that are improving. By that, I mean you are getting better at driving economically and are now feathering in the throttle instead of mashing it. When the instant mpg goes to 60+ but registers no EV power usage, you are coasting (regen) or better yet gliding (zero power use nor any regen either). Next time when you notice this, look at the battery display and see if there are no UP or DOWN arrows. Most likely you'll have a DOWN arrow (regen) or, momentarily, no arrows (glide).
  5. This. As the old saying goes, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket". Get out of this habit of the driver not having a key fob. If not, you will soon experience the other end of the spectrum with the person in possession of the fob exiting the car and the driver continuing on to another location and exiting/locking the car with the door switch. BTDT
  6. Another nice benefit of this type of system being electronic and computer controlled is it doesn't go to full speed immediately blasting you with hot air; instead ramping up the fan speed as the cooling becomes available. NOTE: this is in auto. I haven't tried the Max A/C setting yet which will get plenty of use this summer (sigh.....).
  7. Funny, me too. 2010 Liftback and on 06 HyCam. OP, that's way cool for your company to order not only a hybrid but an SEL package too! Suh-WEET. The C-Max won't pull the big FE numbers like the Pri but all the other driving dynamics will more than make up for it; many of which you have all ready figured out.
  8. Right now with plug-ins and their new technology battery packs both still in their infancy, trying to justify paybacks just doesn't work. You buy it for the other benefits you stated. Hybrids have had the same tough row to hoe since their inception as they have always been compared to econoboxes (rightly or wrongly). Because of factory incentives, I could have walked out the dealership with a base model escape for nearly $10K less than my loaded SEL. But it's not what I wanted. If your parents want an energi and can comfortably afford it, then by all means they should get it.
  9. Ahh. Yes, I use "My View" almost exclusively and discovered I couldn't reset it there. Until it runs out, I'm using trip 2 as a true lifetime of the car because (thanks to reading this forum) I did a master reset of the lifetime readings the first time I got in the car. So it truly reflects MY lifetime of driving the car. Before purchase, It had about 40 miles on it with horrible sub-20's mpg so trip 2 will always lower than lifetime.
  10. Your welcome. Hey it measures whatever you want it to measure. For instance, yesterday I did a long 400 mile road trip and reset it at the start to measure just the trip and thus not have to reset my trip 1 or 2.
  11. FTFY. :) With fuel cheap again around here, I'm seeing a lot of new vehicle buyers tags on BATS (Big Ass Trucks Suv's) around here. :drop: :waiting:
  12. On the left display, cursor down to the one that says "fuel economy" and click OK. This will display that 32.9 figure you hate. Push and hold "OK" till the number resets. It won't affect your other mpg totals like lifetime, trip 1 or 2. I'm using trip 1 for each tank, trip 2 as a separate lifetime, and use the Fuel Economy figure for trips inside of each tank. For example, when I want to see the efficiency of each leg of my commute.

    47 MPG

Do you know how to force an EV+ location? Just park the car and cycle the power on/off at least 11 times in a row (aka the 11 step program). :) I did this at my kids school as I rarely ever power off there so it's very possible it would never learn that location even though I go there at least twice a day.
  14. I took a quick 400+ mile day trip. The 'max handled it without drama. Nice comfortable drive, NAV guided me directly to my unknown destination including alerting me to major interstate construction delay many miles up ahead (I ignored it and paid dearly), sync read text messages to me, SAT and HD radio provided great entertainment choices, auto climate worked perfectly, etc. It was a nice trip.

    Test Drive

My experience with hwy mileage is you need to set it to eco-cruise within the menu settings (not usually done on a test drive) AND have a reasonably long hwy trip (longer than a test drive) to see decent hwy mpg. The EPA test is at absurdly low 60 mph; think country road speeds not interstate. Anyway, I was able to achieve 46mpg at 65mph with a tailwind yesterday on a 100 mile interstate trip once the battery buffer had filled up. On your test drive, I bet the battery was low/empty from your in town driving and once you hit the hwy, the engine/generator began running double duty (hwy speed and charging up the battery) producing the low mpg's. Also, 50F is a little low for top mpg's. I've only had my CMAX less than two weeks but have owned a couple of other hybrids. With those experiences I think the 'max can achieve it's city/urban epa figure with careful driving under ideal climate conditions but will never achieve it's HWY rating at typical interstate speeds. Hope this doesn't come across as sour grapes. Nope, I love it: more power, better built, more features, more room, etc.
  16. The A/C is completely electrical and powered by the lithium-ion hybrid (hi-voltage) battery. If you sit long enough with the a/c running and drain the battery down to its minimum state of charge, the engine will come on to generate the necessary voltage to recharge it and then shut off again.
  17. I also have 6.1.3 but I failed to mention in this thread that I have sync version 3.5.1 according to syncmyride.com; however, according to MFT it's 3.34.4 FWIW Today I tried replying via voice commands but got the "incompatible phone" error also but at least the car will read them to me (trying to be an optimist!) If it's important enough to respond to, I will call them back handsfree. Which reminds me, MFT gives me three options when a text comes through while driving: listen, cancel, or dial but the dial option doesn't initiate a call (it's not greyed out either). Sigh...... lots of work still needed for this system.
  18. Yes, that is where I learned I need to change the "show notifications" on my iPhone. IIRC, you'll need iOS 6.x Hmm. For settings>bluetooth>sync, are you touching the blue arrow on the sync selection to open a sub-menu to give you more options?
  19. Do you have an iPhone? Is so, what iOS version?
  20. On your phone, go into settings>bluetooth>sync(blue arrow) and turn on "show notifications". Also on MyFordTouch: settings>phone>text message notification>on That did it for my 4s but I can't reply via the steering wheel right control. I haven't tried voice control yet.
  21. Yup, I have never had the button misbehave so that leads me to believe that it's not a latch mechanism or seal issue. This weekend while running errands and after only 10-15 mins. from powering down, I had the rear kick method unlock but not lift.
  22. Welcome to the hybrid world in general and to CMax country in particular! Check your tire pressures as dealers like to set them on the low side. Lots to learn here so dig in. Register and log in to syncmyride.com and see what build version of sync you have. The most of up to date is 3.5.1 and works well with my 4S.
  23. Personally, I wouldn't take it in unless there is a code(s). Do you know how to get into test mode? http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/1275-engineering-test-mode/
