  1. Some people have mentioned the secret stash area in the center console below the USB ports. I didn't know the little recessed shelf was there until I saw that post. I put the cap for my little USB drive in there, some use it for change. I like are the opening/closing grille vents. Some things that caught me off guard that continue to make me smile: When the car automatically connects my phone when it is in my backpack.Whenever I open/lock/start the car without the key FOB in my hand. Some things that are well documented to *not work* but I seem to have lucked out on: When my phone interrupted a song to let me know I had a new text message, then asked me if I wanted to reply by voice. And it just worked. When I insert a USB thumb drive and it plays from the point in the playlist where it was previously.
  2. Good Stuff Altabrig! Thanks for taking the time to write this up! Riddley
  3. Following up on the previous set of instructions, here is a list of steps to Attach an image file to your post (as opposed to inserting). You can use these steps to include a file that is on your computer (not yet on the Internet). I have attached a sample file to this post to illustrate what these steps accomplish. In the editor, click on the [More Reply Options] at the bottom of the screen. This opens the "full editor" Note: if you are editing a post you published previously, click on the [Use Full Editor] button. Notice that at the bottom of this full editor, you have the [Attach Files] control. Click on the [Browse] button. Locate and double-click on the file you want to attach. Click on the [Attach This File] button At this point you have one file uploaded to the site, and ready to attach to your post. A thumbnail will appear below the post you are editing. You can choose to add another file, or if you are satisfied, you can move onto the next step. In the editing window, place the cursor in the exact location in your message where you want the image or attachment to appear. Click on the [Add to Post] button to add the file to your post as an attachment. Click on the [Preview Post] button at the bottom of the screen. Review the preview of your post, make any final changes/edits. Click on the [Post New Topic /Post Reply] button to publish your post. Note: If you are editing a post you published previously, click on the [Save Changes] button. Note: you can upload up to 67.58K of files (Max. single file size: 67.58K) Hope this helps. Note: you can test this by using the "Test" forum at the bottom of the list of forums in the main page of this site. :)
  4. I have seen a sprinkling of comments from new forum members who want to insert an image in a new post, but aren't clear on how to do this. Here is a list of steps you can use to Insert an image file to your post (as opposed to attaching). You use "insert" when the image file exists on the Internet already. Example: if you have an image already uploaded to the C-MAX Forum Gallery. I have inserted a sample image file to this post to illustrate what these steps accomplish. The picture needs to be somewhere on the internet already. Many people use a file sharing service for this. Alternately, you can insert an image that you previously uploaded to the C-MAX Forum Gallery. Locate the image you want to show. Identify (copy) the URL of that image: In the case of the image below, I just right-clicked on the image on the other webpage and selected "Properties". Then I copied the path that is shown for where the image resides.. Note, you can try this yourself. Right click on the image of the red car below, then select Properties, then you will see the path. Copy that path. Now, when you are composing a new post, to insert a picture, click on the [image] button on the editing toolbar. You will see a prompt for the URL. Paste in the URL that you copied in step 3 above and click [OK]. Click on the [Preview Post] button at the bottom of the screen. Review the preview of your post, make any final changes/edits. Click on the [Post New Topic /Post Reply] button to publish your post. Note: If you are editing a post you published previously, click on the [Save Changes] button. Note: The image you want to insert must be a conventional image file ending in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, etc. If you follow these steps, it should result in the image appearing in your post (example below). Hope this helps. Note: you can test this by using the "Test" forum at the bottom of the list of forums in the main page of this site. :)

  6. So sorry this happened to you salprint. I am sure all of the obsessives in the group (I count myself as one) will have a slightly sick feeling when reading about that.

I browse on a number of PCs with lots of different screen sizes. The largest of a 27" monitor, the smallest is a 10" tablet. I use primarily Internet Explorer, but the page characteristics would be roughly the same in all browsers. Recommendations: Streamline the top banner to not take up so much screen real estateEliminate the Ads (from Ad Choices) at the top of the page - these along with the top banner consume the entire first screen of the page on most of my systemsIf it is not possible to eliminate the ads (I suppose someone has to pay the bills) at the top of the page, then relocate them to the right side of the page.
  10. I am thinking that we are seeing just the tip of the iceberg with these C-MAX and Fusion sales numbers. 1. People are getting tired of the Prius - which is underpowered, uncomfortable, awkward (someone referred to the instrumentation in the Prius as "like an ATM machine"), and for all these faults, overpriced. 2. We are seeing a slight reprieve in gas prices and availability, but it is not a renewable resource, so prices are likely to go up over time. 3. The Government has mandated fuel efficiency standards that require manufacturers to continue to improve efficiency. So, if anything, we should see an increasing reliance on Hybrid technology going forward. 4. These are excellent vehicles to drive. Comfortable, powerful, fuel efficient, quite, loaded with high-tech, and fun.
  11. Will need some testing and debugging. I followed the steps outlined and got the Sync to properly show the books, but when I try to actually play the books, it reports an improper or unsupported format. It plays music from the same USB drive just fin, so I'm thinking that it has to do with the download. I'm going to be testing different download formats to see if I can get Sync to be happy with the format, and I'll report my findings back here.
  12. Great solution for the techie. Unfortunately, its not going to solve the issue for the novice. The complaint I referenced started over here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/1655-top-bar/ With people going more and more to tablets, and those getting smaller as well, it would be most elegant if the top of the site is just streamlined (at least vertically) to work better for those.
  13. Yikes Rob !!! That is an excellent reference. Its almost scary how thorough that is. Thanks for posting it!
  14. Such excellent stuff Jus! You did just what I was thinking about doing, only about 6 weeks ago !! The cut down list of the CMax specific features is going to be particularly relevant. When you get that thread pinned in the Welcome forum, it will be great for new owners. One other thought I had was to create some FAQs. Stop me if that is already done or in the works.

bwaa, I've just put your concern (because I share it), into the "how can we make this site better?" discussion thread. If it works out, a site admin, or moderator, will see the concern/request and perhaps work with the web team to reduce the size of the banners and such at the top of the page. It is a great suggestion bwaa!
  16. Hi Bill (and all). I find it challenging to view the site on smaller displays because the first full screen of the page is static (mostly banner and white space). In fact, I am currently using a very large monitor to type this, and still whenever I hit the page for the first time, or hit the button to view new posts, I have to start scrolling because there is such a giant amount of banner noise and white space at the top of the site. I have just read a new post from another user that has expressed the same concern. The site would be more useable if it could be streamlined at the top of the page. Thanks very much for listening. (click below to see an example of what I see):
  17. Here is a 7 minute video that discusses the C-MAX left side instrument cluster. The video traverses through the range of gauge choices you see on the left-side cluster display, such as Vehicle Range, Inform, Enlighten, Engage, Empower and MyView. This video might be less interesting to C-MAX "early adopters", but for those waiting to have their vehicle delivered or still burning through their first few tanks of gas, this video might be very welcome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ty7FFGWq7S4 Background: While I was waiting for the new C-MAX, I looked for videos and other references to the car. I wanted to learn all I could even as I waited. Finding information was not as easy as I could have wished. After I took delivery of the new C-MAX, it took me a few weeks to start exploring the gauges and features. I've been learning by trial and error mostly. In the spirit of wanting to make it easier for new owners to learn about the car - even as they await delivery, I'm going to make a series of posts that highlight features of the car - as videos. The videos I'm going to post here are created by the folks at Ford and high production value. Its just that while these are available on the Ford owner site, they are not easy to find. They are also available on YouTube, but again, not so easy to find unless you know what you are looking for. I couldn't decide which forum this might fit best, but selected Buying/Order/Leasing because it is where it might be seen by people who might appreciate it more.
  18. I located a series of Sync tutorials on the Ford support website. Here's something I'm eager to try out: How to set up Audible audiobooks for use with SYNC. Full Tutorial: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/audible-audiobooks-how-to-sync-myford-touch Play some of your favorite audiobooks in your vehicle using Audible and SYNC® with MyFord Touch®. Please note that this process requires a computer running Windows®.
  19. The sliding door is necessary. They have Eliminated the center pillar.
  20. NPR is good at most times of the day. If you get an NPR station in HD, you can sometimes find a second or 3rd stream. ;) OK,, but seriously, You can find support for Ford Sync here: http://support.ford.com/topics/sync-technology Support options available on this page include forums, live chat, and dial-up support.
  21. I have the 3.5.1 and I hate to say his, but... I live on an Island, and take a car ferry several times per week. What I've noticed is that as soon as the ferry leaves the shore, the navigation unit refuses to advance my position on the screen, as the boat takes me across the water. The navigation unit displays the water just fine, but it is as if, it is afraid to send the little arrow into the shipping channel. It happens in either direction (to and from the island). The next time I am on the ferry I'll take some snap shots. That is, if there are no whales about. What are the chances we'll see a fix for this??!!

Scroll up and right click on the image of the orange car, then select Properties, then you will see the path. Copy that path. Now, when you are composing a new post, to insert a picture, click on "image" button on the editing toolbar. You will see a prompt for the URL. Paste in the URL that you copied in step 3 above and click OK.If you follow these steps, it should result in the image appearing in your post. Hope this helps. Note: you can test this by using the "Test" forum at the bottom of the list of forums in the main page of this site. That's what I needed to do to figure all this out. :)
  23. I was looking for our home on another computer and couldn't remember the exact URL. Did you ever see that Star Trek episode where the crew found themselves in a parallel universe that was very much like their own, but subtle things were just a little bit off? Well that is what it felt like when I went to this site: http://cmaxhybridowners.com/ It is a world just like ours, only a little bit different.
  24. I stumbled upon this when searching for some other information. http://www.bmaxownersclub.co.uk/
