Back to the original intent of this thread: Ford had more "realistic" EPA numbers in the beginning but a year later they roll out with the 47 numbers when other cars (cough Prius V cough) were now selling well in the market. One of the base tenants of customer service: UNDER promise and OVER deliver. Imagine if Ford would have stuck with the 47 city and 44 hwy.

Show Us Your Wallpaper!
fotomoto replied to ArizonaEnergi's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I don't have the "raw" pic on hand but here's a shot of how it looks on MFT screen. It's one of my daughters many paintings but it's severely cropped to fit the screen dimensions. -
Half-a-million miles and still going strong 23 hours a day: http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1085577_2008-ford-escape-hybrid-500k-miles-still-in-patrol-service The company kept lots of records on it. AFAICT, it's still on the original HV battery! At the end of the story, there's a link to taxi fleet experiences with more good news. Let's hope this bodes well for our Gen II Li-On systems.

Pick me up a club sammich, add avocado slices, chips and ice tea. thx. :victory: This is great to hear. Hopefully I can get mine installed sometime next week. I honestly thought it would only become available towards the end of the month.

Due to an upcoming long, out of state family trip that will be out in the middle of nowhere (and spotty cell coverage), I got a spare from the ebay vendor selling them for $65 shipped. Good condition. Afterwards, it will remain in the garage as a daily backup. I installed it on the front and took it on a test drive. Yes, under braking it will pull to the side it's installed on due to the size differences. I quickly got use to that and at one point found myself at 65mph! Opps. :drop:

It's not hard as it only weighs about 25lbs but you do have to get on your hands and knees to install/remove the locking hitch pin. Gave mine a much needed bath (been burning up the local highways).

Opti-Coat, any one try yet?
fotomoto replied to C-MaxSea's topic in Appearance: Detailing, Wash & Wax
Thanks! It's been holding up great but the coating won't hold up to rocks. Think of it as an extra clear coat with awesome wax protectorant like qualities. It's been 3 months since I applied it and I wash it nearly every weekend at home with a power washer/brush and it still beads up like a fresh wax (even the coated windows) and bird dropping coming right off. I can't really tell you about bugs because I also added a clear bra to the front end at the same time to help protect with rocks. Most of our roads around here are of the chip seal variety that have a lot of loose pebbles. No dings so far! I have never applied a wax to the car, only the opti-coat 2.0 -
Nothing happens when I step on the "gas" pedal
fotomoto replied to blacter's topic in General Discussion
UPDATE: I just had this happen again this morning PC (pre-coffee). Leaving the convenience store, I got into the Reverse while also getting a mis-start (accessory mode). I realized this because A) I wasn't going anywhere :), B) the a/c was warming up, and C) I looked at the instrument panel and saw the yellow engine light on. Put back into P, push start button again (with foot firmly on brake this time), and everything worked correctly. -
Is the liftgate all ready powered in the SEL 301a combination but just not foot operable? If so, it might just be a matter of adding the 3 motion sensors underneath the rear bumper and reprogramming/matching your FOB to the sensor. This is all a guess on my part.

Changing AM/FM stations presets?
fotomoto replied to dedwax's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Manually tune to the station you want, then touch and hold the preset number on the touchscreen you want to save it too. Takes about 5 secs for it to "beep" the save confirmation. New station is saved over old station. My NPR is in HD and it sounds wonderful. It's the #1 FM preset on my radio, also #1.2 and #1.3 since they broadcast two additional sub-channels with different programming! Yet another big reason I opted for the 302a package. -
+1 that stuff works great

Nothing happens when I step on the "gas" pedal
fotomoto replied to blacter's topic in General Discussion
Most likely you didn't push down far/hard enough on the brake pedal while pushing the start button so the car is in accessory mode not ready mode. I do this a couple of times a week it seems. Everything is on or appears to be except for the little green "ready" light (the one with the green car and the two opposing arrows) in the right display. Edit: when I do this I CAN NOT get into Reverse because the shifter is locked. Correction of the correction: I can sometimes get it into gear. -
Yup. Red Yellow is locked.

DON'T TOUCH IT! NEVER TOUCH IT! :runaway: Oh jeez, you touched it. :drop: You released the Aliens.

I bought a combination package of 3M and a proprietary kit from this thread: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1958-invisible-bra-and-deck-protection-and-more/ I installed it myself. I have a pretty extensive background at applying window tint and vinyl graphics on my own vehicles. I have had more issues with the 3M than their own product. It's lifting near the fog light cutouts on both sides but otherwise the overall package is doing its job. I haven't talked to them yet about it or if this issue can be resolved. Lots of rocks/pebbles on our Texas roadways due to the chip/seal type of paving. This is the kind where they lay down layer of hot tar, dump asphalt rock on top, lamely push it down with a steam roller machine a couple of times and call it a day. Tons of bugs too. It's been protect just fine. I have a home power washer that I use nearly every weekend on it and everything comes right off including road tar. Here's a pic of what it encounters. I can just barely make out the line on the hood liner in this pic. It extends about 8-10 inches back from the front leading edge. The reflections are a little less sharp under it. The front bumper kit is basically invisible but was difficult and tedious to apply. The hood kit was easy. If you are not a committed DIY'er, I'd strongly suggest getting it done by a shop with a warranty. BTW, the official Ford Ruby Red touch up paint works well. I applied to it to the stone chips I all ready had before laying down the wrap.

Former Prius Liftback owner here and I forgotten about the poor rear hatch visibility till reading your post. LOL That reminds me of another CMAX plus; because of the much higher ride height, headlights from those behind us aren't nearly as obtrusive. Like you, I have the SEL auto dimming mirror, which my Prius also had, but it doesn't get near the workout like it did in the Prius. FE really does improve with mileage both on the car and on the driver. Learn how to properly use the EV side of the hybrid equation in urban driving and watch your mileage soar. :happy feet:

Sounds good to me. You didn't go on a rant or get disrespectful which would have meant a quick delete and/or ignore if I were the recipient of this email. You ended it with a request for help and a response (good). GOOD LUCK!

Snowstorm knows all this, he's just being "punny". When Ford first announced it, I instantly recognized the value because I previously owned a powered liftgate on a mini-van. Adding the hands free feature makes it GREAT!

You have an SEL so for clarification: you don't have the remote with you or within several feet of the hatch when you try the lock, correct? Mine locks.

Dang the CMax actually looks good in taxi-cab yellow. I hope that taxi cab owner who joined here a short while back keeps posting his experiences.
