Brake light is NOT on during regen nor is it required to be.

Here's my solution for a spare tire cover: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0024E6IXI/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 $10 shipped! I got the smallest one offered (21& 1/2 inches) and it fits like a glove. It's made to slip on/off with an elastic cord around the backside. Here it is strapped down in place for trips. The color is remarkable close to the stone interior too. (bonus score!)

CONGRATS on the Ruby Red! The digital manual is a much easier read and searchable! http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1603-on-line-owners-manual/?p=14268

That's GREAT! And welcome to the site. Don't be a stranger.

Getting headliner recall done this morning. All ready have the 13B07 and MFT 3.6 updates done a couple of days ago (forgot to add an entry here).

CONGRATS! If I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten the Energi SEL. They just weren't available around here at the time I was shopping.

From page 209 of the OM: L (Low) • Provides maximum engine braking. • The transmission may be shifted into L (Low) at any vehicle speed.

Welcome Amy! I don't recall where but there's been someone here who's put a huge kayak on top too. The CMax will hold a lot of photogear or other items. The hands free liftgate is a nice feature for that; something to consider. I added a hitch and cargo carrier for even more capability. The CMax is a swiss-knife on wheels! :)

It's a hybrid not an EV so it really isn't meant to propel the car at high speeds; rather aid the ICE. While in EV at 60+mph, applying enough throttle to accelerate will drop it out of EV. You'll have to feather the throttle to keep it in EV at high speeds; a slight rise, a gust of headwind, etc will be enough to require additional power from the ICE.

Folks having issues with dealers: go to http://www.etis.ford.com enter you VIN print the page out with the list of updates your vehicle requires hand it to the service advisor.

Uggh, I wished I'd had know that was a link to FOX NEWS. I don't want to give them any page hits if I can help it.

NAV is a popular item that folks want to keep from being locked out; however, IIRC, Prius owners reported their version of a lockpik had issues with some NAV computations like ETA that were way off because the car was supposedly in "Park". Hopefully the coastal e-tech unit has address that or the CMax NAV uses GPS and not the car's speedometer.

This is positive news. In fact, it got GOOD ratings (the highest) on injuries related to the occupant.

What is your mpg when you drive "regular"?

Factory recommendation is a semi-synthetic blend. This is what I did/doing: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1953-free-first-oil-change/?hl=%2Bfirst+%2Bchange As a matter of fact, I'll be doing the 10K this weekend.

Yes, great article. I hope everyone here reads it.

Has anyone found a big improvement in voice control? I got frustrated with this technology on previous cars and smartphones that I rarely even think to use it in the CMax.

KC to clarify, EV won't normally kick in by itself at high speeds but needs help like through throttle manipulation or going downhill, etc. Here's how I suggest folks to check at high speeds: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2536-ford-to-offer-free-updates-to-boost-hybrid-vehicle-efficiency/?p=28477 I did this to verify and got EV to kick in at 70mph. I also lost my regen miles tally and EV+ locations. Good luck!

LOL, yup there's no free ride but.......... you did get better FE driving (even in the warmup phase) than idling in a garage or driveway! GOOD NEWS for me. I took mine in this afternoon for both the 13B07 fuel economy and the hands-free liftgate updates and when I got it back a couple of hours later the FM was working perfectly. :happy feet: I wonder if 13B07 is like a computer firmware update and installs or reinstalls all current and previous patches? Thus I got 3.6 installed again? Wait. No, my phone was stilled paired. :headscratch:

LOL, good point. I turned off both the auto lights (come on in the garage) and the a/c. With a reasonably full battery, one should easily make it through the update without the ICE running.

I had something similar happen when I drove it during the update except mine started over (I'm pretty sure but no 100%). That's what I think might have given me my FM issues. <shruggs>

I live along the coast and have no experience yet with mountain driving in my 4 month old CMax. We will soon be taking a trip to the mountains up to 9,000 ft. and will, of course, experience significant downhill grades. Manual says: In prolonged mountainous driving, you may see the engine tachometer changing without your input. This is intentional and maintains the battery charge level. You may also notice during extended downhill driving that your engine continues to run instead of shutting off. During this engine braking, the engine stays on, but it’s not using any fuel. You may also hear a slight whine or whistle when operating your vehicle. This is the normal operation of the electric generator in the hybrid system. Should I keep grade assist on all the time? When or will I ever need to use L gear if using grade assist? I want to #1) not overheat friction brakes (safety) and #2) strive for best mpg.

Oil Change Required being displayed
fotomoto replied to mnrobitaille's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Further reading I found the answer to the OP on page 359 of the OM: C-MAX full hybrid vehicles are equipped with an information display which indicates the proper oil change service interval; the interval is up to one year or 10000 miles (16000 kilometers). When ENGINE OIL CHANGE DUE or OIL CHANGE REQUIRED appears in the information display, it’s time for an oil change; the oil change must be done within two weeks or 500 miles (800 kilometers) of the ENGINE OIL CHANGE DUE or OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message appearing. The oil life monitoring system must be reset after each oil change. See Engine oil check in the Maintenance chapter. So he has/had two weeks and 500 miles leeway for the original message.- 32 replies
