New 7-seater Grand C-Max Model launched in HongKong
fotomoto replied to cmax-nynj's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Hmm, looks to be the same size as our platform but with two very tiny seats taking up the hatch space (and battery location in our hybrid/energi's). No thanks. But I do like the sliding rear doors; very handy with kids and tight garages. I guess its competition for the likes of the Mazda 5 (discontinued in the US in '16) and others. -
Sure Way To Prevent Dead Battery
fotomoto replied to SnowStorm's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Prius "campers" have reported an approx. 3/4 gal/hr burn rate doing this (with lite a/c use) while sleeping in their cars. So assuming a full tank and a similar "idle" rate, the CMax should go nearly a day doing this. On a more serious note, I've also read reports of hybrid owners having the cars left on for several days by valets at airport parking lots. That will run the car empty of fuel and discharge the 12v shortly after that. :banghead: Now that more and more vehicles are coming with push button start, that situation will, hopefully, diminish. -
Not any more! :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: <--- They're dancing to the new booming bass beat.

Drive the CMax exclusively for a week or so and then climb back in that ML350. You'll think to yourself, "Wow what a clunky, awkward machine these traditional cars are! We're stopped but why is it still running?" etc....... :happy feet:

Sorry, couldn't resist the kitchy, topical title. :drop: I have an SEL with the optional Sony high end (and I use that term loosely) sound system. I recently added a Cadence 8-inch powered subwoofer that fits underneath the front seats. I got it from Amazon several years ago for about $250 and installed in a couple of vehicles during that time. Since the CMax has so much physical headroom, I have my drivers seat set fairly high which means I have more room under it so I placed the sub there. I didn't bolt it down because A) it's very heavy and isn't going anywhere and B) access to the under floor storage. Since I wasn't going to access the Sony head unit buried in the dash, it's a fairly easy install. Took me a couple of hours as I was charting unknown waters with the exception of the speaker wiring info thanks to jdbob and Marc Smith in another thread. After removing the driver side B-piller and front/rear bottom door sill trim panels by hand, I tapped into the left rear speaker wires for signal. Next I found an unused slot on the rear fuse box that was only hot with the power on or in accessory mode and installed a fuse tap for a power signal to activate the amp. Note: this doesn't power the amp, only turns it on. I powered the amp straight from the 12v battery with heavy gauge wiring and an inline fuse as per instructions. You want a good strong source of power. Ford provided a convenient grounding location underneath the door sill plate next to the drivers seat so I used that. Finally, there is an adjustment dial to fine tune the output on the fly. I used double sided tape to mount here by the e-brake so when I am resting my arm on the center console it is at fingertip reach. I ran the telephone style wiring in the center console out of sight. And that's it. Low end is greatly improved. :happy feet: Although it can and will thump my seat, this kind of sub won't shake the ground, rattle your fillings or annoy your neighbors; rather it is intended to supplement and fill in weak bass. It has three settings on the amp itself to help tailor it to your individual installation. Depending on the quality of the source and volume level, I further tweak things with the fine tune adjustment dial at my finger tips. I should have done this two years ago. Yes, it's been sitting on the shelf that long and yes I'm a procrastinator! :banghead:

Coming from a Ti edition, I don't think you will be happy long term with an SE model. The SEL has rear a/c vents. Good luck in your search. The CMax is a great car and will be a nice upgrade from the Fiesta. :shift:

Cool...not cool??? from a hot rod purist point of view

Marc, IIRC you had a Prius. There's an engineer on PriusChat who is trying to convert a '68 Firebird into a hybrid with a Prius drivetrain. -

He made the local news here so it seems he's pretty good at the promotional thing. LOL I use to go to the TexasMile back in the early days at the original location (ex-navy auxiliary field out in the middle of nowhere) when it was more laid back. Now folks from all over the country and North America show up so getting multiple runs is much more difficult due to the number of entries. Winds were high this time so not a lot records broken. -
I'm different. My local dealer has sold quite a few in my small part of the world and I usually see several a week; one particular ruby red keeps the same commute time/route as me. The only color I haven't seen locally is the electric blue.

This will allow you get inside the car so you can pop the hood to access the jump points when roadside service gets there. It usually takes only a few seconds to bring the car back "on line" since the dead 12v doesn't need a big charge to "crank" the engine.

No, I haven't heard of this particular issue but if it ever happens again you should try a master reset of the infotainment system. It's buried in the settings menu. Same thing happens, you lose all your saved settings, but it's physically easier to accomplish than going the fuse route. I would have expected your radio would have turned off (timed out) at 10 minutes. Another possibility, the door switch might have been stuck so the radio never "thought" you got out.

Obviously she didn't get the 303a package......

Anyone know rear speaker wiring color info?
fotomoto replied to fotomoto's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Thanks guys! Between this info and the pdf, I should be good to go. Hopefully I can verify this weekend. -
Well rats. Has the phone recently had an OS update?
-
Hard reboot is fancy smancy lingo for turn it off and back on again. LOL But do the open/close door thing when you do. That supposedly makes most of the systems power down instead of staying in standby mode for 10-15 mintues. Actually a true hard reboot would be to disconnect the 12v. You can do that with the phone if you want but on/off to reboot the phones' OS should be enough.
-
Try the un-pair/re-pair dance again but this time do a hard reboot of both the car and the phone between each step. Make sure you open and close the door on the car and wait a few minutes during the reboots.

WOW, if you were driving the F150 100/day in town, the fuel savings alone will make the payment on the CMax! I sometimes do 60 miles/day yet still put in a full 8 hours at work so that means for a looooong day. TIP: the more miles you can do on a warm engine (ICE), the better your in town MPG's will be. Cold starts and short trips are the enemies.

C-max VS Hot water heater
fotomoto replied to Marc Smith's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Yeah, it won't take something that high but it can handle something that long (sounds like the punch line to a dirty joke). Proably me. 8.0 cubic foot front loader dryer in the hybrid (saved ridiculous $50 in town delivery charge): 60 inch TV in the Energi (save $75 out of town delivery charge): I was able to completely close the hatch on both. -
A/C and mileage in hot climates (Florida)
fotomoto replied to tishpit's topic in Lounge: C-MAX Hybrid
Yup. If you need to touch up the paint, it's gone thru the clear coat. If you really want the touch up to last, you'll need to re-apply clear coat over it. I think SDM is confusing his color with metallic or pearl colors which sometimes need two base colors plus the clear if you want to do things right.- 27 replies
