  1. Nope, not me. Was that ever determined to be the temperature sensor on the bottom? The master reset didn't cure it. I'm sure it's related somehow as now the HVAC system has gone bananas (technical term). In auto mode set to 74F, it switched to floor vents and heat! The a/c compressor and fans were both off. I switched to manual and dash vents only to get warm air out of those. Eventually a couple of power on/off's and setting it to max a/c got it working again. About an hour later in the garage, I went to pair my phone which had been lost to the master reset. Same things happened again. I checked under the hood to hear only silence from the compressor and fans. This morning it was fine and the OAT was just a few degrees off actual. <shruggs>
  2. Very good points snow. I forgot the Volt ICE is otto cycle and enthusiasts are expecting an atkinson ICE in volt 2.0 This time of year is great for me to compare tank to tank as day to day temps can vary only a degree or two (hot is hot) but unfortunately with our kids out of school my driving routine is not.
  3. Barry, yes this is the hybrid forum. There is a separate energi forum if you need to talk specific plug-in issues. Your mileage is great but don't go touting those numbers in a Volt forum. I was at 165mpg lifetime and I was below avg at voltstats.net Those guys are pulling some insane numbers. :worship:
  4. My former Volt required premium yet it only had a 10.5 CR much less than the CMax. Numerous Volt owners including myself noted an instant decrease in mpg when using regular unleaded. It was just habit for me to punch the unleaded button at the pump instead of premium. GM has taking a beating in numerous reviews and forums about this requirement so (putting my conspiracy theory tin-hat on) I think maybe Ford decided not to specify or recommend premium fuel since a 12.3 CR should deem such. I scanned this thread quickly but I don't think I saw anyone say they tried premium in the CMax and not get better results.
  5. OK, I know we Texans have been know to tell a tall tale or two but I've got pics to prove it! :) Then a few minutes later, the mother of all blizzards fell upon me: and finally while checking things in the settings menus it does this: I'm going to perform a master reset and see if this resolves the OAT readings. I have 3.5.1 from the factory.
  6. I wish Ford would have simply designed it so the glove box floor inclined downwards towards the back of the box.
  7. What section/aisle? I've been home renovating for a couple of years and sometimes think I live at Lowes but I haven't seen something like this. I like DIY; especially, if it's cheap! :)
  8. According to my monthly OnStar reports for my previous Volt, my personal best was 27 kWh/100 miles. So, $20 divided by my electric rate of 10.2 cents/kWh equals 196 kWh worth of fuel. 196 divided by 27=7.2 7.2x100=720 miles.
  9. Normal. Short trips kill mpg and if it's with a cold engine (ICE) it's even worse.
  10. All ready done: This guy did a great job (3 cameras/split screens). The driving portion with display shots starts around the 8:00 min mark but the whole thing is very worthwhile for newbies.
  11. mtb, One time while moving my home by myself and nearing the last pickup load on a very long day, I loaded a large piece of workout equipment in the bed. I only made it about 1/2 way out of the garage before the equipment hit the top of the garage door opening nearly destroying both. Cheer up, we've all been there once or twice.......... or more! :) HTH!
  12. Having owned a Gen3 prius I will disagree on one aspect they compared: "The one area the C-Max, or any other hybrid for that matter, cannot come close to touching the Prius in is the brakes. Toyota has a lot of experience with regenerative braking and it shows. The v has seamless brakes that behave very close to a conventional brake setup. The Ford on the other hand suffers from non-linear, jerky braking." I think this is wrong, wrong, wrong. I find the CMax braking is better all around and doesn't suffer from what some Prius owners consider a safety issue while braking over sharp bumps when the system clumsily switches from regen to ABS. Never a thread here about that. Otherwise I also give them a thumbs up overall. I really appreciate the realistic mpg reports. Maybe these guys actually understand hybrids.
  13. Funny that you replied to this thread. I actually though about you and other "supertankers" who are getting great mpg's and how you might be slowing down the upward progression because it takes ya'll longer and longer to reach the end of tank and log in your results to fuelie! :)
  14. I've been off line for a while so don't know when it change but now it's up to: 39.6 8 days till the end of the month. Going by the entries in this thread, it looks like a trend of about an increase of a tenth per week so I don't think we'll see 40 by July 1.
  15. Incorrect. The hybrid battery doesn't hold enough charge (power) to run the a/c for long lengths of time. Periodically, the gas engine (ICE) will run to turn the electrical motor/generator that recharges the hybrid battery. When the ICE is running in an idling car, it is getting 0 mpg. That's why traditional vehicles' mpg suck in stop and go traffic. A pure EV trip will register 999 mpg so anytime you see less than that the ICE has run. Your 25 mpg rating may sound crazy low but that is twenty five times better than 0 mpg. :yahoo: For a while, I suggest you select the ICE tachometer option in "My View" to better tell when the ICE is running. Under light loads, the ICE in the CMAX is very hard to hear or feel which is a good thing and the more break-in miles the smoother it gets.
  16. I believe the days of designing and building one car for only one market are over. World car platforms with model variations are now the norm. What I'm hoping we'll see is a hybrid specific platform with sedan, hatchback, CUV and AWD SUV variations where an un-intrusive battery location is the #1 design goal.
  17. This is most excellent news as taxi fleets are a great resource for identifying long term trends early on.
  18. Update: it's been nearly 6 weeks with multiple power washes and two heavy rains yet no other issues. The day before my dead battery, I had a gauge plugged into the OBD port which I think drained it overnight. I haven't used it since.
  19. NICE! Get those brake scores up to 100% (not the easiest thing to do in traffic) and you'd be flirting with the 60's.
  20. If the engine (ICE) had recently run, the coolant temp can still rise occasionally triggering the cooling fans. If the car was in ready mode and the a/c was on, the fans will run.
  21. Interesting since that car is only rated at 25 mpg city, 28 combined. That's quite an improvement. :headscratch:
  22. I'm thinking the CMax will make a GREAT taxi to replace the aging Escape Hybrids.
  23. Pics of mine here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/734-windshield-sun-shade/
  24. It's the compression. Some stations are more than others but all are. Try switching between HD radio and XM for a good compare and contrast. I keep forgetting about the record/pause/playback.
