  1. Shouldn't you change your name to Big Blue? :) CONGRATS on your new ride! It looks great! Mine was built about a week before yours and I have 3.5.1 and, I too, have no issues with MFT.
  2. In one word: room. My family situation changed to the point I needed a more "family car". Of course it was going to be a hybrid so it came down to the C-Max and Prius V and the 'max won out. :wub2: Neither will come close to the crazy mileage I got in the Volt: 162mpg lifetime! It was very tough giving up electric drive. It's the future. :worship: We will need to replace my wife's car in the next 3 years and it will be another plug-in.
  3. I'm at 1/4 tank so the avg isn't deviating much now and has settled in at 45.5mpg. I was rocking 46.x but lost .5mpg while my car was at the tint shop all day. How could that happen? Well my FM was tuned to a station I never listen too and the SAT tuner was on another pre-set........ :rant2: 50+mpg trips are important. Short trips are one of the top reasons for overall poor economy in any vehicle. Except for out of town trips, all of my daily trips are under 17 miles. As they say, YMMV. The overall fleet mpg will never meet EPA top numbers (usually hwy). I know of no car that does; not even the Prius. This thread isn't meant to be scientific data collection but just a place to show folks what the car can really do in normal, daily situations. If I go to extremes like coasting down a mountain (yeah, here in south Texas LOL!) for a crazy high number, then I'll say it but be rest assured I'm not gaming the numbers.
  4. Well as the display says, that's what happens when you can drive 100% EV. This part of the overall shopping run was a short drive between two stores. While leaving a store parking lot last night, I had the guy next to me who was also leaving, stop unlocking his door, and watch me silently back out. He had this dumbfounded expression on his face; like he truly couldn't believe what he was seeing and (not) hearing as I continued on in EV. :happy feet:
  5. Having owned three other hybrids that offered precious little info, being able to choose an engine temperature or tachometer display is awesome! I wish we could have 2 or 3 separate My View screens just like having a trip 1&2. Or better yet, a much larger left screen that could display every option at once or be reduced to one's personal preferences. Now that would be COOL!
  6. Hmm. Although I'm a photographer, I'm doing nothing special when shooting these dash screen pics with my iPhone4s. I shoot the majority of them in the garage when I get home but there are exceptions. I do rest/brace my phone on the steering wheel column pad which helps with sharpness/camera shake. Get very close to the dash, the camera will focus very close to the subject and make sure the focus indicator (blue square) locks onto the numbers as the camera calculates most of its exposure based mainly on the focus point. I use photobucket and its phone app to effortlessly upload, store, and link pics to the forum. HTH
  7. I saw a youtube video report and the reviewer said the USB wouldn't charge items such as an iPad that have higher voltage requirements than a phone. I haven't tried to verify that yet. FWIW
  8. $77 shipped from Amazon. Man, I hope you guys are right as I just ordered some last night. :drop: Paint will be about 6 weeks old by the time I get this done. I'm going to give it a good, good wash/bug remover. Then move it in to the garage for the rest: clay bar, fine scratch remover/polish, and then IPA wipe down before application. Sound good?
  9. "fotomax" LOL. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep away from the C-MAXER guy.
  10. I swear I've seen one but don't recall where. I'm thinking Bob Wilson showed one but you know that guy, he's all about charts and graphs, so it could have been something else. LOL
  11. Yes this is pulse and gliding. Not feathering back in any throttle is pulse and coasting. I agree that the second power bar is optimum. On a cold engine, I find its best to pulse the first time long enough to get the ICE up to temp. FE will dip initially but the battery will get full or nearly there and subsequent pulses will be more efficient. Once you get the hang of it, P&G becomes second nature and you'll catch yourself doing it subconsciously.
  12. Braking adds more energy but there are so many variables. For example, would the momentum be better served going up the following hill?
  13. Ever see the movie "Spinal Tap"? http://youtu.be/EbVKWCpNFhY
  14. One power cycle each in the morning and afternoon yesterday brought EV+ back this morning.
  15. I'm seeing some folks from other hybrid forums popping up here that I know so I thought I'd stop using C-MAXER and return to the persona I've used for years and years, fotomoto, which reflects two large influences in my life: photography and motorcycling. Anyway, C-MAXER was a pretty lame name surpassed only by one person here named "cmax". Come on, really? (kidding) I'm using the same avatar pic and my name (Doug) in the signature line so hopefully there won't be too much confusion. :headscratch: That is all. Carry on. :)
