  1. Has anyone observed (as maybe when removing) whether the Thule mounts scratch, chip or mar the paint?
  2. 1. Does it stay alive and transfer when you change cars? 2.Or is it transferrable to a new owner when you sell the car? If answers are Y to 1 and N to 2 then this would be a better deal the younger you are.
  3. But if there were actually any changes, the 2014 engine certainly SHOULD have a different part number, ant it apparently does not. (The part numbers are in the public domain; so the fact that there was no design change is therefore publicly available info.)
  4. Ashley, Thanks for sticking with us on this, but could you be good enough to go back to them again and get them to give us an explanation of how that recommendation makes sense with the engines being identical?
  5. Fotomoto: Thank you for the great job of clear thinking, investigation and reporting. I think that this puts to rest the speculation that some unknown "design change" for 2014 may have specifically accommodated the 0W20, and that you have conclusively shown us that we may safely use the 0W20 in our 2013 engines.. Ashley: This issue is not going to go away. At this point, quoting the manual to us is not going to suffice. You would do us all a great service if you could go all the way back to HQ engineering and get them to give us the green light for 0W20 in our 2013's based on the fact that the 2013 and 2014 engines are identical, as discovered by Fotomoto. Thanks in advance for the effort.
  6. To me, that car sure looks like an Escape and not like a C-Max.
  7. Exactly how does one go about using Pandora through the USB connection? Where does one find the Pandora App on the car? Thanks for any guidance.
  8. How on earth did getting the hatch operation fixed have any effect on mpg?
  9. An excellent point, and one that is not often noted. Matches my experience and opinion precisely.
  10. Asb, Interesting story. Thanks for sharing, and congrats for sticking to your entitlement to be treated right. Glad it worked out for you. I would value your comments on comparison of the C-max to the 2013 Escape. See from my other posts that I've had a close look and opined that they are essentially the same vehicle. Other than the front face style and the space taken up by the hybrid battery compartment, what significant differences did you find between the two cars? What engine did you have in the Escape? How does the power on the C-max compare from a drivability standpoint?
  11. Thanks to Fotomoto and Seattle for the replies. I will indeed post some more on the installation and on the air flow consideration, but briefly: 1. Re. the air flow restirction: I did give the issue some serious thought and even a bit of calculation. The result was that I'm not very concerned. Further, my C-max is an Energi, and the ICE hardly ever gets to run, let alone get fully warmed up. 2. Installation was a snap. One day I may figure out an even lower mounting, but this one was soooooooooooooo easy that I just did it.
  12. Where it does not spoil the "Aston Martin" look. Now all I need is an Aston Martin badge to go on the blue oval. What do you think?
  13. I don't suppose C-Max Energizers would be admitted except possibly under a sworn statement of no plug-ins on the trip.
  14. The 2013 Escape is not just "close." It's nearly identical in every way. Q.: Take a US C-max, remove the Hybrid powerplant and batteries and replace with a conventional 2-L I4, add the face and grille of the European C-max. Now what have you got? A: A 2013 Escape.
  15. I am yet another Energi owner "wandering" over here for more complete coverage om stuff common to both models. Also: Here's another vote for merging the two forums. There is a good bit of duplication. Tthe Energi specific stuff could be handled in a subsection here.
