  1. Did the wife hate the way they made the car look? did she say your going overboard now? :)
  2. David just curious why you chose the Hybrid instead of the plug-in Energi electric version of the CMax if your commuteeveryday to work is so short? Was it the extra cost (even though its reduced once govt discounts), or the severe hit on cargo space when buying the Energi over the hybrid? Plugins are perfect for short (<12 mile commutes). They use electric the entire time around town. You would never use gas hardly. Yes hybrids need to be warmed up and always use gas early on. usually it takes 10-15 mins for a car to warm up completely to temp and you probably arrive to work before the car is even warm which hurts your MPG #s big time. Hybrids are best for mixed driving of short and long trips. Diesels best for long distance drivers. Maybe get a block heater to warm it up sooner? or put a heating blanket over the engine in the morning before you go to work? Hope you can find a way to boost your mpgs
  3. Hmmm. I use my 7" Kindle Fire HDX to usually read this forum sometimes my wife's laptop. Didn't know it omits stuff.I guess for the space/size of screen.
  4. GOTTA get the shark fin for sure it's a must. Cant believe it's not stock as the fishing pole looks so old and outdated on this very modern car.
  5. How were you able to plan that so perfectly don't you have to find the perfect road that allowed you to be able to do that without cars/traffic around?
  6. Yup very true for so cal. And then later you are exactly the same place as them when traffic slows up and eventually you pass them after all. It's been proven that changing lanes frequently is actually slower than staying in the same lane for a long distance.
  7. Roof rack = instant lower mpgs by at least 2-5 mpgs. Unless you must have them don't do it. Defeats the purpose of a hybrid. Ever wonder why all those suvs get bad mpgs? One of the secondary reasons other than the large inefficient engines is the standard installed roof racks which most people never ever use!
  8. The closest Ford dealership for us has at least 20-30 Cmaxes on the lot.when I drive on the street back home from work (when freeway is backed up) I drive past them all the time and see them all right in front next to the sidewalk so all can see.
  9. There is a forum here that tells you how to track it and get its location... Here it is: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/362-order-to-delivery-time-thread/ Read thru some posts/pages and it will have links to a place where you can get your window sticker and know where it is in the process of build and rail car delivery and final delivery. Hope this helps
  10. Just wondering did you specifically order yours or were you forced to order one since the exact car with all the options and color you wanted didn't exist on any dealer lot?? My wife cutie75 and I hope to buy her 2014 SEL 303A sometime soon, hopefully.....
  11. Let's track the mpg numbers for the 2014 USA version Ford C-Max hybrid here to see how it compares So far only 2 owners listed. http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/c-max/2014/hybrid%20l2 If you have a 2014 and haven't signed up on fuelly.com yet please do to add to the community info. Thanks Hoping to buy our 2014 CMax SEL 303A soon.
  12. Diesels are best for those drivers who have long commutes on the freeway/highway to get those high mpg numbers. Hybrids are best for a mix of highway and city drivers. Electric is best for those with very short commutes around town only to get the highest mpgs Never understood why some people but the opposite correct car for their primary driving conditions??!! (Electric instead of diesel for long commutes, etc). The much higher cost of diesel gas compared to normal gasoline and the higher initial cost of the TDI Pass at was the reason I got the 2.5L gasoline SEL Premium instead and since in not a road warrior with long commutes and only drive 14 miles to work one way it was the best choice for me. Hope you are enjoying your 2012 Passat. There is another TDI my with same color as mine and it's funny when I park right next to it.
  13. Uh which driving class did you attend? The actual rule for SAFE distance behind a car to avoid a rear ended is SIX seconds, which allows for proper braking distance to stop the car in time when going 65mph. Cars average about 125-135 feet to brake. Also need to take into account reaction time.
  14. I would suggest the first post be updated to include the list of user names (along with car year and model (SE or SEL)) who have had a dead battery issue and if they had it more than once the have a 1x or 2x etc added after.like the highest mpg winners thread but this is the dead battery losers club instead. Should be a living post and be updated until this issue is resolved Lots of posts here but can't tell how many out of the population here have or haven't been affected.
  15. This is ridiculous since the car is designed to not lose so much of a charge so that it won't get stuck. It's always trying to keep a 50% state of charge on the hybrid battery. Of course we are taking about the starting battery not the hybrid battery that has the issue here. Also there is no way they could allow a car to be designed to have to be driven a "special certain" way to prevent a dead battery issue. There are millions of drivers ands a hundred different styles of driving so no way to control that input variable factor. That would be impossible to do and no one would buy the car if it were true and they'd have to disclose that fact to you durng the take delivery portion of the sale when they show you how to use all the features, and it would also have to be disclosed in the owners manual. Not buying that bogus excuse. ======== Spaniel owner said: The most important thing a car can be is dependable and unfortunately this car doesn't seem to fit the bill. I am also disappointed that the dealership acts like they aren't aware of this being a 'problem' with the C-Max, when obviously it is from what I'm reading here and on other sites. I don't like being lied to and also don't like that the first thing they say when it is taken in is to accuse me of leaving something on. I rarely use the USB port and am afraid to charge my cell phone as I fear it will drain the battery. They have also suggested that I don't drive it enough to re-charge the battery.
  16. ## If ## the dead battery issue is really caused by a bad batch of batteries and not from another parasitic draining source, then after 1.5 yrs of making these cars/batteries why hasn't Ford recalled all the bad ones yet to get them off the road instead of having brand new owners get a bad experience in their 1st year (sometimes first month) of ownership??? The negative effects of this quality issue is more expensive than replacing them all. The bad ones could be traced by a lot code/date code/mfg code. I still don't think they know what the real problem actually is. If there have been so many users who post here on the forum with this issue, I don't want to think of how many thousands who don't know about this forum that have the exact same issue (dead batteries) . Usually posters/forum readers are only 1 to 3% off the total population of actual owners.
  17. Don't turn on the radio in the morning and take a video using your cell phone or tablet of you trying to get it to work.then show it to the dealer.
  18. Please advise how and where you set one up for the users here? i never heard of this but sounds like a good/cool idea thanks
  19. 99% of the time the changes DONT impact you but someone in another state altogether :) (its the entire USA and sometimes Canada included in the maps) My maps in my Passat are now 2 years old now and I will think about getting an update...maybe. so far no issues though even with old maps. its $199 for the VW !!! thats crazy insane ...and they are already out of date since they are a snapshot in time, unlike the garmin ones that let you update every 3 months if you have one of their LM (lifetime maps) models you can even download and install your own driveable/routable maps on a garmin (even handheld ones) from sites like: http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ you have to remember the maps are NOT free. its just like buying a new version of windows or OSX every 2 years. it SHOULD be free but its not. the maps are licensed to the car mfgs to use for their cars (just like artists license their songs to the Apple itunes store to sell) they pay a lot of money to Navteq and other map data owners who in turn have to spend a LOT of money and resources to send out cars/crews to drive all those roads and make sure they are accurate and staff folks to handle the input from real users/drivers when there are errors, and the cities who do the construction for new roads/highways to get their staff to draw up the plans for the new roads they just built. its a trickle up effect it gets more and more expensive the more people are involved in the process. Don't forget about the satellites which last time I checked are not cheap. many maps also include traffic data and road indicator data which has to all be coded into the maps. ts not just a Thomas Guide with just lines and text anymore. its heavy duty stuff for even a small town/city worth of maps, never mind the entire USA Worth of maps you are buying (worth it for someone who is retired and travels a lot or a road warrior. Not worh it if you just drive around a 50 mile radius of your house 99.9 % of the time) its not the car companies problem if you go to a restaurant that is no longer there because they went out of business 3 months ago due to the economy which is out of their control. everyone company is out to make MORE money not less. the in dash gps is a luxury item but everyone expects to see one in a car these days otherwise its not even considered on their "to buy" list so they put them in to meet the customers demands/requirements (look up the "kano model" theory) the gps in cell phone is faster, cheaper and more accurate but its less convienent since you have to buy a cradle and it not as large as the indash you are paying for convenience . prices at 7-11 are much more expensive than wal-mart but folks still buy food/drinks there because they are located where there is usually nothing else around to eat/drink. Convenience again...which drives up the price its a little monopoly going on
  20. Its not just Ford that would be doing that, my VW Passat always reads better avg MPG for my trip than when I calculate with pump numbers. (anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 mpg better mpg on the car's dash computer) also the cars dash only has one number after the decimal point whereas the pump has 3 numbers after the decimal. does the car round up or down? rounding ALWAYS causes inaccuracies especially when dealing with averages. when you average an average that is one of the biggest sins in statistics and data analysis they teach you in school. the pumps are regulated and have to the calibrated and tested to get their stickers to operate so i would say its more risky for the pumps to cheat and be put out of business (only own 1 station usualy and that would really hurt them) compared to if a car mfg tweaked some code not everyone compares or checks BOTH like we do I think most car mfgs do this why would you want your owners to think they are getting less mpg? but yes there are different ways of measuring and inaccuracies as some do the top off method of filling and some stop at 1st click some wait 5 seconds before removing and some remove nozzle immediately gas will evaporate more on a hot day vs a cold day some fill up when tank is empty and some fill when 1/2 or 1/4 left meter in car is different from flow meter in the pump tank will get deposits over time and also parts will drift in calibration or wear out and become less accurate im sure someone has done a white paper on this topic somewhere out there..
  21. You / your wife are going tospend a LOT of time in those seats and they had better be comfortable whatever you decide on . leather gets hotter in the sumn but is much easier to clean and maintain if you do the work the take care of it cloth is a goner if you spill anything even water, it will leave a stain some folks say cloth makes you sweat on your back because its harder for your body to breath for some reason yes sit in them for many minutes not just a second or two and BE SURE before you buy The SE is not for everyone and you dont want to have regrets later. There are 3 levels/packages for the the SEL so its not like you have to get the highest one. there is 301A, 302A, and 303A better to get MORE in the SEL and have options, even if you dont use it all, than to jip yourself and want more later its a once in 10 year purchase for most folks so you deserve to spoil yourself every so often, its the 2nd biggest purchase after your home dont skimp
  22. Great review wish we would hear more from you (only 15 posts in a year) What was one that that you changed as for driving style or habits, since owning the Cmax as compared to the Jeep? As for your Sirius ./ Dead Battery issue, that is very curious....Im wondering if this is anyways linked to anyone elsese dead batteries that we have been hearing about way too much lately. If not glad you got it fixed and glad you have a good dealer to deal with for maintenance. not everyone is so lucky
  23. Oh well, back to the drawing board.... :)
  24. im sad they killed the Escape Hybrid. It would have been nice to have the sligtly larger size AND the hybrid gas mpg numbers
  25. You could check this site to see if the dealer you are dealing with now or planning to deal with is any good http://www.dealerrater.com/ if you had a bad experience in the past be sure to put in your comments so others dont deal with the same bogus stuff as you did
