  1. perhaps create an offline survey ay surveymonkey and link it to this thread ?
  2. seems that TSB # is very old? but it was discussed here over on the Flex forum: http://www.fordflex.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8794
  3. same here i hear it on the radio and tv but not so much in print ads especially the flyers from ford directly it seems this is their most hated step child they dont want to show off maybe they think if enough time passes the mpg issue will be forgotten by new buyers if its in the past enough time so no reason to remind people about that bad 4 letter word: C-M-A-X :(
  4. that would make SOME sense since it seems most of the dead battery issues were on SEs with the smaller screens and not the SELs with the larger screens if they got the MFT option but i know there have been some SELs with dead batteries so....not so sure about this "fix"
  5. your insurance card for your car that you should have 1 in the car and 1 in your wallet/purse should show the VIN # as well as your sales paperwork that should be in a safe place at your home
  6. I think you meant to say 2014 not 2013 right? and yes I think I read a post recently where someone with a '14 did have a battery issue and it was less than a month old not good for us who are considering getting a '14 and even waited till they came out to make sure the battery issue wouldnt affect us, and its still an issue even now after 1.5 yrs~! and no solution yet at least none that we have head of
  7. yes a very good premise and possibility is there anything in the manual on this? i sometimes leave my passat unlocked in my garage and yes it may be sending a signal to check every so often, might do that regardless of lock/unlock state though not sure. i know sometimes when im washing my car and have the fob in my pocked with the doors open it keeps on going crazy by beeping the horn so i always have to put the fob in the house in those cases (so its further away from the car in the driveway and out of signal range)
  8. read here http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3377-ford-to-update-34-million-cars-to-applink/ seems its only for the non MFT systems and older 2010 to present (so this wont help us CMaxers with SELs)
  9. this is EXACTLY why the Energi's dont get these because they didnt have issues getting the MPG ratings, only the hybrids and hence why the 2014 Energi's were available first and they hybrids many months later as they were still tweaking things with mph and aero enhancements and of course testing and retesting. no way they were going to get another screw up for mpg without making SURE many times over their black eye is going to take a long time to heal if it ever does with some customers
  10. Ever think they purposely did this so that all the 2013 owners dont go out and buy a part for a 2014 and put it in their 2013 and make it worse since it needs to be programmed in the software to take advantage of the different aerodynamic effects to get the best results?
  11. Scuba this wont make any sense to him unless he knows what the 2 bars are and if he hasnt setup his system to use the EMPOWER screen instead of the other less important screens on the left side of the dash. if he reads Jus-a-Cmax's review thread he will hopefully understand dont forget most folks that are new dont know all the stuff that is 2nd nature to the longtimers here :) everyone was a newbie at one point im not even an owner yet but have been here reading for over a year to learn as much as I can to help me and my wife when we DO get our CMax
  12. if you like the higher seating position like in the CMax, and I would assume you would since your coming from an SUV (Escape) then there isnt much else other than the CMax to choose from that gets 38 to 49 mpg (depending on who and how you drive it of course) :) both have the european look and feel inside the cabin VW always gives you top of the line high end stuff for not much money but yes add on options on a VW and it gets a lot higher fast top of the line CMax Hybrid version fully loaded with all options checked i think is a max of $35k if you get the glass roof and higher priced optional paint job sadly the VW Hybrid has the same nasty huge hump/bump in the rear just like on the CMax Energi which takes up a lot of cargo space, so if you need cargo space the CMax Energi and VW Jetta Hybrid are out leaving you with the CMax Hybrid
  13. Great news if its true only negative will be all those folks who LOVE sync and wont want to learn a brand new system all over again even if it is much better cant wait. you would think the 2014s would have already had it installed though if they were going to do it :(
  14. huh? looks tan/brown in the pix to me...
  15. Let them dontate to the CMax forum here as a charity for a good cause to do more "research" :) very sad to hear about their lack of support. but there is no excuse not to charge it! NO charge-ie, not MPG-ie. low charge means Gas ICE engine running most of the time instead of EV. doesnt the app you can use with the car have a listing of all the local charging stations around your area if you dont have one at home or work? surely there are some near her house or work she can use? did you educate her to learn more about the car? that Energi is supposed to get 60-100 MPGe right?
  16. Apollo thanks for posting the pix i dont like the 2 tone look we will see what the wifey says took much of a contrast how has it been for spills and dirt on the tan? i suggest zymol leather cleaner if you have the money otherwise use Lexol leather cleaner and Leather conditioner (2 different bottles) great stuff
  17. A diesel might be the best option for long commuters. yes the diesel gas costs a lot more so you need to factor that all in what mpgs do you get now and what is your current car? the cmax hybrid is best for short and medium length commutes around town adn some lower mph highways under 68 mpg the cmax shines in the city not the highway have you looked at the Jetta TDI or the Jetter hybrid? i know its different the Fusion will be better for higher mgs compared to the cmax as it will get less wind restistance with the lower height and lower cg (coeficient of drag) values
  18. dont just go by the default fuelly screen for cmaxes that includes ALL cmaxes including the european ones that are NOT hybrids and includes DIESELS! you need to be sure to check the mpg for the filtered results where you only look at the hybrid engine and only one year (2013 or 2014 whichever you own as they are different slightly) and only the hatchback not the others that filter takes you to here: http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/c-max/hybrid%20l4/hatchback for 2013 its currently 39.6 average for 232 cars for thre 2014 there is only 2 so far but its more promising with around 41.2 mpg http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/c-max/2014/hybrid%20l2/hatchback obviously we need a lot more owners posting their #s also remember there ARE BOGUS users on fuelly who purposely have posyted low mpg numbers as they are CMax/Ford haters who DONT own the car and want to drag it in the mud so take the results with a grain of salt as very low mpg numbers should be discounted (throw out the outliers) as any measure of AVERAGE is severely skewed by the high/low values compared to Median and standard deviation also you dont know which are high mileage CMaxes and which are low mileage and which are cold or warm weather and which are hypermilers and regular drivers or those who applied the mpg patch update and those who didnt yet
  19. Lance you can see if you can optimize your MPG by doing a test, Put in a location on your GPS that is aproximately 15-20 miles away. be sure your car is fully warmed up BEFORE doing this test Go there one time using the ECO route from the GPS (you can choose fastest, shortest or eco mode) see what your MPG is for that run. the eco route will use more streets at 35-45 mph speeds then go to the same location from the same starting point but use the FASTEST route. compare mpgs to the eco route the fastest route will use more highways that travel at 45-65 mph speeds which WIL reduce your mpg #s did you happen to notice on the car sticker that the EPA rating is BETTER for city versus highway? hence if you drive a LOT of highway you cant expect to get the highest mpgs
  20. Lance you can review all his FUelly logs here and no he doesnt have a plug in ;) http://www.fuelly.com/driver/cmxappraiser/cmax he pays a lot of attention to the roads. so much he knows every bump, creak, pothole, hill, decline etc his commute just happens to be the OPTIMAL route and speed for this car to maximize the MPG he gave Ford a BUNCH of his data when Ford had a new owners gathering to get feedback from owners and they were VERY amazed with his data but he presented real facts and hard data to back it up to them, im sure they used his input to make the 2014 even better also you can see all the folks who were able to get over 600 miles on one tank here so its not just JusACmax who has done it: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1025-600mile-cmax-club/ also check out all his tricks and tips here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1751-jus-another-cmax-review/ if you learn these techniques and try it on relatively flat roads you can get high mpgs ====== Lance said: So, yes, I love the vehicle. My skeptics nature just doesn't understand how anyone can routinely double the recommended mpg. Those stats, by the way, do not seem to exist on Fuelly, where I would expect them to shine out as super outliers on the fuel chart there. That adds to my skepticism (though I do allow for the possibility Fuelly is not being used - which is a shame since seeing those stats would be a real welcome bit of news to the vast majority of C-max owners stuck in the high 30's and low 40's.
  21. please please and pretty please that would be great Monthly/weekly youtube classes hosted by Jus-a-CMax make it so #1
  22. you could do a gage r&r spreadsheet to do the tests or a Design of Experiments (DOE) with a smaller sample size to determine best / optimal settings (for pod location or with/without pods) or a simple 1 sample t-test (link here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Student%27s_t-test) for those that are into statistics you can look into it Minitab software has these capabilities, as do many other stats programs 10 samples (runs) 2 or 3 different drivers with and without pods you will then run a test to see if the differences are statistically different
