what part of california do you live? Jus-A-Cmax might be able to help u do you have a smart phone? if so you can get an app that tracks your commute to see how much hills/elevation changes you run normally. you can then plot a graph and upload it here for us to check out/review to help u out. I use"My Tracks" for my Android based phone. Another good app to help you learn to drive better is "Driver Feedback" out out by State Farm and it lets you track a trip/route with your car (like to work or from work) and then you can see how you did on braking, accelerating and coasting, kind of like what the cmax does on its screens. if you drive a lot of hills you will take a mpg hit if flat roads then you will get better mpg you live in California so thats the best scenario as you dont have to deal with cold weather make sure to use your seat warmers instead of the heater on cold days to save gas you might have a lemon or something wrong so its good to check it out but the dealer will say its you not the car, of course

Not sure why Fuelly did this as you used to be able to filter and sort them out separately they told me they would be doing improvements to make it even better to run graphs and numbers a rep from Fuelly was on here at one time (dont remember their username) not good with the combining of the models, you cant get an accurate picture since the diesels and NRGs need to be counted totally as separate/different vehicles need to send an email to them ASAP to fix this

Tretpower great message and video glad after your re-eval you still came back to the CMax I agree not sure what else you can get out there with the styling, mpg, interior room (if you get the hybrid not the Energi), and the features and Euro quality and creature comfort. Prii owners can go to xxxx you know where with their plastic toy
-
I totally agree. they should have sold the COMPLETE package, not just mpg and they would have won more (not as many) customers over the long term and not dealt with this mess they focused on beating the Prius and now look... The cartoon commercials were not a good idea. should have just started with the CMax family commercials that were the true package infomercial. when you go after the master of mpg and want to slay them you better have the bigger rock and data to do it for real. sad sad sad I agree the CMax wins in all other categories and most would still be getting 25-50% more mpg than their current car with the CMax so...why not just leave well alone and show them the full value of how much you get for your money compared to the other cars that cant compete. mpg is not the only thing, especially since it depends on everyone's right foot just as much as the specs on the car

Nice summary report. Keep on CMaxing and having fun at using less gas Just curious, what was your 2nd choice / Plan B for a car when you were shopping?
-
Thats a good question. If they really hid that screen thinking folks hated to see such low numbers and they didnt know how to reset it at the beginning and had old bad data from the dealer and test drivers included in their own data.... just give us the screen. it is what it is and many here get better mph Id like to hear from Ashley or another Ford rep on why we cant customize the screen or add/subtract what we want to, and Im not talking about MyView

Need to show a pix from the rear view and top side so we can see the snark fin antenna so others will want to replace their crappy fishing pole with a modern antenna that this car needs so badly. A little too much chrome on your car for my taste bit glad your are taking it to the next level. While the door ding protectors help I'm sure, they do detract from the clean looking side door panels.

Countdown to cutie75 and salsaguy's Cmax...
salsaguy replied to salsaguy's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
Well after a few months of getting back to being able to get the CMax for my wife car and starting to look hard again at the car and post/read more here on this forum, another life setback has come along just this past month and put off our plans to get the CMax once again :( Hopefully this setback will only be a short one....stay tuned....the countdown continues.... Sorry for anyone who lost any bets on a timeframe of Q2 2014 for us finally getting our "MAXimum Overdrive"...don't beat me up...Please ;) -
Agree. I think this is a very good way to alsoseparate themselves from the bad pr/press that GM has had with their key/ignition issue Sad that the mpg for CMax is so low now but many here will be exceeding the numbers instead of being way under. Better to exceed expectations than under perform bit of course most still remember all those 47/47/47 commercials and will never give the CMax or Ford any chance to forget that fiasco ;( Still a great mpg car and still our top choice for now. This however WILL result in even more lost sales to the crappy prii/prius for those that only buy based on mpg numbers alone and not ride/fit n finish quality which is more important than just mpgs to many.

A/C is "on" whenever I turn on the Climate Control
salsaguy replied to Adrian_L's topic in Climate Control
I suggest you one button "auto down" all the Windows when you get into the car to let out the majority of the built up heat in the cabin and wait a few (10-30) seconds then start up the car and "auto up" all the Windows and then put it on max a/c. with recirculation to ON and dual zone set to synch/match temps until it gets to a closer temp (within a few degrees of final setpoint) for your comfort and then turn max auto off to set to your desired fan speed for the rest of your trip (and decide if you want recirc on for dirty air, or off for fresh air), and can now change the dual zone top split the temps separately if you want. This will minimize the load on the system and max your mps. -
A/C is "on" whenever I turn on the Climate Control
salsaguy replied to Adrian_L's topic in Climate Control
On my Passat there is a sync button you can hit to make the dual zone climate temps match or not match the drivers temp. Using different temps make the system work harder and uses more energy since one zone is always heating or cooling the other one off of you have sync off. But of course the wife has to be kept happy so... I would assume (hope) the CMax had a similar sync button available?? -
Check out this very interesting news story on how these 3 big companies are working together to come up with the next generation of energy saving car technology. Pix and YouTube video links are included in the article. http://www.qualitydigest.com/inside/quality-insider-article/announcements-unveilings-and-adjectives.html# Please post your thoughts about this here

Mildread this guy at Youtube has a lot of great videos where he tests the CMax and gives insights on best driving techniques https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLi9gQ_tmRw71LwJhY_UmzA search his many videos for the ones related to the CMax here are a few of them: here is the link to view all 5 of them: or indivual links here: and here is his write up/review: http://www.mpgomatic.com/2012/12/27/2013-ford-c-max-sel-hybrid-review/ -
Great article that matches what our super hypermiler Jus-A-CMax always tells everyone here, to find the BEST route and know it like the back of your hand to get the best mpgs: http://www.mpgomatic.com/2012/03/19/get-better-gas-mileage-by-picking-the-right-route/
-
obviously it needs to be on a flat or downhill road not an uphill and yes many reported it doesnt last long when at 80 mph sucks up battery really fast
-
hmm there should be a 1 button switch so you can do ECO cruise or regular cruise on a hybrid the more options to make it easy to get great MPG is in Fords best interest to make it easy for the owner and to avoid controversy on low mpg #s hmmmm
-
its one of the bigger forums but there is a lot of talk about ECO cruise in this topic/forum: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/288-c-max-fuel-mileage-what-are-you-getting/ have fun reading 500+ posts though
-
Normal cruise on a normal non CMax car would be: Set cruise to 55 mph and it stays there. If you climb a hill the RPMs will significantly increase (bog down/load the engine and really suck up the gas and mpgs) ECO Cruise with the CMax means : Set cruise to 55 mph and the car will smartly increase or decrease the speed +/- 5 or so mph to keep the cruise AROUND the setpoint but get the best mpgs, If you climb a hill it will reduce the speed so it doesnt ramp up the engine rpms like a normal car If you like to feather the pedal on your own you can sometimes get better mpgs if you leave eco cruise off (like super nypermilers Jus-A-CMax and others) if you just want to drive and forget it and not play the "mpg game" then just leave it on ECO cruise is best left for longer trips on the highway instead of the shorter trips around town but some like it on around town as well If you do it in town you wil get folks mad if you set it fotr 35 or 40 mph and then the car drops down the speed to 25-30 when there is a big hill. if you drive flat roads its best to be ON but if lots of rolling hills leave it off but then again you wont get as good mpgs as it will perform like normal cars cruise and increase the rpms and waste more gas. its a give and take run a week with it on and note the mpgs and then a week with it off and note the mpgs and then determine what works best for your style of driving some dont like that aspect what have you done so far?

New to the forum, just bought a 2014 ford cmax,
salsaguy replied to Mildred Teague's topic in Welcome
Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new CMax You have the regular CMax Hyrbid. The one that you plug in is called the Energi, which is more money and has less cargo space in the back and has an "Energi" logo on the rear hatch. the Hybrid is great is you drive both city and highway mostly between 25-55 mph. The Energi is for folks that dont drive much or very far and stay around town and drive usually less than 35 mph. Yes the Hybrid uses the brakes to recharge the battery. Setup your dash so your coach is turned ON so you can see how you are doing for braking, accelerating and driving so you get the most miles per gallon. if you keep your distance and allow more space and time the lights so you dont have to jam on the brakes, you can slowly and lightly press down the brakes evenly and constantly until you slowly come to a full stop and that is how you get the most charge each time you brake. try to get 85-100% braking scores. if you are getting low braking scores yuou arent recovering that much potential energy from the regen brakes, Remember, the first 80% of your brakes are not the rotors and pads, its the regen brakes so use those the most if you can. the last 10-15% of the brake pressing is the read pads/rotors where you are actually putting parts to parts (metal to pads) which is not the part you get the recharging from, Read your manual all the way thru there is a LOT of info here in many many forums. so many helpful people you will learn a lot be patient but you dont have to do anything special to get great MPGs from your CMax. there are tricks and tips to get even more than the EPA rating but dont worry its a lot more than normal cars so just enjoy it the first few months. it will take longer to break in this car since the engine turns on and offwhen you are at a stop sign/light to save gas so its not running as much I would say the two most important posts/topics to read would be these from user Jus-A-Cmax which has a lot of good info you may not understand it all but read it over and over and then ask questions see links here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1751-jus-another-cmax-review/ and this one: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2599-my-2c-ev-driving/ Once again enjoy your Cmax Welcome to the best car club ever -
Announcing Advance Notice 14C03 Compliance Recall

It depends on manufacturing date not model for this issue. The assembly is most likely compatible/the same for each version. The trim level would affect the covering (leather vs cloth) . -
Announcing Advance Notice 14C03 Compliance Recall
salsaguy replied to Bill-N's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Ashley, how do we know if the cars on the lots for sale are available to buy or not or would they have to keep those out of view and not allowed to be seen by a prospective customer? If a new buyer like me wants a new CMax will they fix the cars that are sold but not yet delivered in the first round of repairs? Or is it by region? Should we just wait a few months for this to be over before we can go car shopping? Or do we just buy a custom cmax built new from the factory? Are the new ones coming off the line in the factory using a different process so new ones won't have this issue? Thanks
