xanotos
Hi all, So I finally started buying LED bulbs to replace on the car, and bought some W6W bulbs for the cargo lights as instructed in the Owner's Manual. They finally arrived, so I started to take out the old ones, when I noticed they are not W6W bulbs, but W5W ones!!! W6W are ones with a metal baseW5W are wedge type with metal wires on the sides I wonder what went wrong? Also, switched out the license plate bulbs and noticed the plastic lens over the plates are positioned to have the bulbs facing right. With LED bulbs, you can tell the lights are not aligned correctly with the plates. Will post photos later.
ARA
I too am in the process of replacing as many bulbs as possible. I have ordered three different kinds of LED. I plan to replace the license plate lights, the back-up lights, the cargo lights, puddle lights, and glove box light. Turn signals and brake lights will be a later project. I have already replaced headlights ( low and high ) with Silver Star bulbs. I am also looking for suitable LED DRL's.
ScubaDadMiami
Have you noticed a change in the power draw from the new headlights? I replaced the bulbs in my last car with the Silver Stars, and it did help with road visibility at night.
xanotos
Been thinking of adding Silver Stars for my headlights too. Can't wait to switch up all of my rear lights to LED's.Only hard problem I am getting is that I need a special tool to swap out the center brake lights!!!Ford, why couldn't you make it easier? Seems only the dealerships have this 'special' tool. :( Also, keep in mind that the Cargo Lights are really (I believe) W5W light bulbs. Bill-N
Also, keep in mind that the Cargo Lights are really (I believe) W5W light bulbs. Correct. Search the forums for "puddle". PS: I changed my cargo and puddle lights with LED's. The work just fine. But, unlike filament bulbs, LED's have polarity so try them first before putting everything back together. You may have to reverse them in the socket. In other words, you may need to remove the bulb and rotate it 180 degrees for it to work. dtorres
I did the same upgrades. These worked well for the rear cargo area and fit nicely: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008KP7MIA/ref=pe_385040_30332190_pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_1 and these worked nicely for the rear plate: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0064O0NB2/ref=pe_385040_30332190_pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_2 Edited July 17, 2013 by dtorres

Take a look at this thread. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1898-puddle-light-upgraded-to-led/page-3 Post #58 has some pictures of the rear license plate lights, they are the same as the cargo area.It takes a small screw driver, use these bulbs.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008KP7MIA/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1much brighter
Corndart
Any luck getting the glove compartment bulb out? I can see that it's socketed, parallel to the front edge of the door, but can't work how to remove without feeling like I'm playing a game of "Operation". More worrisome is trying to get it back in :-) Ideally the door would easily come off to at least get out of the way, but haven't figured that out either.
