Kunari
"...The affected cars are 2013-2014 models Ford C-MAX, Fusion, Escape and Lincoln MKZ vehicles and could have a defect related to the restraints control module... more" DOH!!! I just bought a 2014 CMax Energi last night and wake up to this news. I'm not worried and happy with my Energi and I think most everyone is used to recalls these days. ;) Ford press release
Jus-A-CMax
Better fixed than dead - unlike GM which ignored their ignition switch issues till many drivers died. Kudos to Ford for jumping on this :) salsaguy
nsteblay
I'm seeing two recalls on Etis: 14E02 - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING14S21 - RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT
fbov
I must be special... 12M02 - SYNC WITH MYFORD/MYLINCOLN TOUCH - WARRANTY EXTENSION COVERING ACCESSORY PROTOCO L INTERFACE MODULE (APIM)14C03 - FRONT SEAT BACK FRAME REPLACEMENT14S04 - REPROGRAM RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE14B03 - FUEL ECONOMY CUSTOMER SATISFACTION14E02 - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING14S21 - RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT Granted, 12M02 is warranty extension, and I got my 14B03 check... but my restrains control module died along with traction control, so they have to replace parts before doing those, and YES I have a bad seat back. My service appt. is Oct. 2, and I will check seat heaters before and after! It'll be interesting to see what I get for a loaner car... salsaguy
Just saw this on the CNN ticker under the main TV story. Said oh no. Glad my wife who will be getting a CMax eventually didn't see it. Glad they (Ford) are taking a quick response to solve it. Defects and issues happen all the time when it comes to humans and manufacturing (Ive beem a quality engineer for manufacturing companies my whole career of 25+ years) . It's never easy but with everything serialized and traceable back to the raw materials level in the automotive industry they will make sure to get every last one of the bad parts replaced in time. Kunari
Thanks for posting that, if I'm reading it right, my C-MAX was made in March 2014.
Kelleytoons
Yeah, and mine was made in January so I'm okay as well (not a big deal but it's nice not to have to take Maximis in for this).
scottwood2
Thx for sharing and especially the manufacturing date of what is affected. Looks like I am good on this one. :)
drdiesel1
Thx for sharing and especially the manufacturing date of what is affected. Looks like I am good on this one. :)This is the biggest problem. People hear recall and run off with their hair on fire before they even knowif the vehicle they own is even going to fall into the recall parameters. This recall is for 2013 productions up to Nov. 21st.. Jus-A-CMax and C-MaxSea

Laurel
Ours was in the recall as Tip was built in October 2013. I notice now that the recalls were done that the indicator lights for the seat heat aren't working. Heat is fine, but no lights. I will let them know but not bother going back until the next check up date in February or so.
Zathrus
Ours was in the recall as Tip was built in October 2013. I notice now that the recalls were done that the indicator lights for the seat heat aren't working. Heat is fine, but no lights. I will let them know but not bother going back until the next check up date in February or so. When replacing the Restraint Control Module (RCM), they probably forgot to reconnect the wiring harness that powers the seat heat lights. According to a post on the Hybrid Fusion forum: The Center Console (CC) between the seats and part of the Center Stack needs to be removed to access the RCM, plus the SRS needs to be de-powered.Removing the entire CC is a 11 point dis-assembly and requires some finesse. I'm pretty sure RCM in C-Max is also in CC. Laurel
