complimentary sync service mft

3 years, but each year you have to contact them to "renewal" the services.  No charge, but you must contact them to continue the service.  The fee once the 3 years was up was $60.00 on my 2013 Ford Edge, not sure what it is on my 2015 C-Max.

Lincoln owner's had to pay even more for the services but still had the identical benefits from what they said.  I guess premium costs for a premium vehicle?

What exactly is "My Sync service"

Do I have some service stuff that I don't know about?

Or is it stuff that I know about, but don't know the name ?

You can connect to "Services" in your car to get directions, find a business, get sport scores, weather, gas stations, etc.  You need to set up your account and have a phone paired in the car in order to use the services.

Sync Services is free for 3 years with new C-MAX SEL and C-MAX Energi SEL models to the original owner.

As mentioned, registration and renewal is free, but required to maintain service.

For C-MAX SE models, it's $60 per year from the beginning.

As far as the extended warranty on MFT, that does cover the main module and updates for five years from the original date of purchase. After the warranty runs out, your dealer may charge you for software updates.

Here is a quote from our Ford Sync rep. about warranty and software updates on the 3.8 sync thread.

I did not even know about this service.  Not something I would use but I don't remember anyone talking about it when I bought the car.  Maybe because it is a SE?

I like using my phone and updating that every few years.

Thx for teaching me something new today.  :)

The only time I use it is when I enter a Nav destination from my phone and have it sent to sync. Then I can say "Services", and the destination is downloaded and programmed to my vehicle. I've never used any of the other features, and I don't think I'll pay to continue the service after 3 years.

Mine just ran out in October. I used it for sending routing info from MapQuest and from the Sync destinations app on my phone. It helped when I had an address in an email and needed to push it the nav.

We used it a couple of time to check movie listings and times at a local theater, or to check weather and traffic at a location we were driving to.

Nice services yes, but I don't know if it's worth whatever the cost of it is.

Like I said they expired in October but I just noticed it yesterday.

Hi everyone!

Older U.S. vehicles did come with a complimentary three year subscription, but current U.S. vehicles will receive a complimentary one year subscription if it has MyFord Touch. MyFord (the non-touchscreen SYNC system) does not come with a complimentary subscription; however, SYNC Services can be purchased for $60 a year. I see the links to the SYNC Services info have already been posted, so I won't bored you with that. :)

Holler if you have any questions!

Ouch. New vehicles only get a single year. I doubt many people will renew.

The 2015 came with five years free for findind fuel prices, movies, sports and a bunch of other stuff. Is this seperate from sync services or will I still need to but the service to get the services aspect?

Those services for 5 years are from Sirius/XM and are what is called Travel Link I believe.  Regardless if you have or keep an active subscription to Sirius/XM for the music channels, you will receive the Travel Link services from them for 5 years.

The Ford Services are directly from Ford.  Although many of the same type services are also available such as movies, sports, and other stuff, there are also a few additional features.  You can call and talk to an operator who can find and send specific directions to you or an address for a business or residence you can not find using the in car navigation. I have used the operator assisted calls several times when trying to find a new address which isn't in the data base of my navigation.

I got 20 free assisted calls per year with the Ford My Services. I was able to roll over any unused calls each year when I renewed the free services.  When I traded in my 2013 Ford Edge and got the 2015 C-Max, the unused calls from the Edge transfered to the new account on the C-Max.  Unfortunately, now it looks like I only have 1 year of free services on the C-Max instead of the 3 years the Edge came with.

Not sure if I will pay for the option after the 1 year is over.  It is a nice feature and MUCH cheaper than other programs such as the GM OnStar plan.  However, between my or my wifes smart-phones we should be able to duplicate almost all of the services Ford offers on their plan.

I don't think that the SYNC services are ones that Ford is too keen on selling. I just spent 15 minutes on the SyncMyRide site to see if I can renew service and there ins't even a link to order. Or, if its there it's pretty well hidden from the purchasing public. Microsoft lost out on the next generation of Sync or whatever it will be called.

So while I think in car functionality will increase, satellite services like TraveLink are as far as they're going anytime in the near future.
