Rear window washer spray question
jdbob replied to GSMacLean's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Same here. Ford forgot to put a nozzle in? -
I like that. I'm stealing it :)

Gearing changes that result in a more efficient transmission drive ratio I wonder if they are changing it to the same value (2.91) as the Energi.

I think the right way would be the way most computers do it. Take the UTC time from the GPS receiver and have the user select the number of hours to offset. For instance for me its -8 hours for standard time and -7 hours for daylight time. Trying to have the computer figure it out automatically (if in fact they used to do that) probably drove people who live near time zone borders crazy :)

When it first starts up they are pumping a lot of power into that compressor, I've seen 4KW on my gauge. For comparison a normal window air conditioner in a house is limited to about 1.4KW due to the 115V outlet. No wonder it's so loud!

Ribbed for pleasure?

I asked the pump jockey about that the first time I filled up in Oregon (which has the same stupid rule) and she said a number other cars have something similar, so it's not exotic.

That would have saved me some grief! Or, they could have just put all the files in a ZIP file like normal people and then any operating system could be used to make the USB flash drive!

Ford really needs to fire it's website people. Requiring Java to put a file on a USB flash drive, really? Anytime I've had to update any consumer equipment firmware you just download using normal browser file download onto USB and that's it. So, first have to download Java..... That's done. But I too get "The dialog box pops up that says "Downloading", but then immediately generates an error box" Same thing on both Internet Exploder and Firefox on Windows 7. Also, both browsers complained about the security certificate, anyone else get that? Oh well. I'll see what happens after midnight. 12:30AM update. Still had the same problem so I started looking deeper. In the Java Console log I found an error 403 trying to access a file from www.syncmyride.com. When I tried to just access that file directly from the web browser (without using Java) I saw the familiar blocked web page generated by my firewall. However www.syncmyride.com isn't on the list of blocked web sites so it shouldn't have blocked it. Added www.syncmyride.com to the list of trusted websites and I can now download. I'm beginning to really hate computers :(

I wish they had made one that just showed how the Gen 3 version works. The constant going back and forth between Gen 2 and Gen 3 really slowed things down.

I understand they had to do something on the Energi because of it's pressurized gas tank, but it's baffling that on the Hybrid they just didn't use a simple "choke cable" type floor mounted opening lever for the gas door like every car I've rented this century.
-
I bought my Energi from Robberson Ford in Bend Oregon, but they traded a pickup to get me the car from Legacy up in Pasco.

Yes. There is a button on the console that you push before refueling that runs some valves or something and then opens the door. There is also a manual mechanism in the cargo compartment if there is a problem with the electrically operated one. I'm guessing that it has something to do with the different venting systems which I think is because on the Energi you can go a long time without running the engine.
-
I don't understand the need for a locking gas "plug". The door only opens from the inside, or is that only on the Energi?
-
According to the wiring diagrams the seat switches go directly to the motors, simple and cheap. For memory seats there needs to be a computer to control the motors as well as a way to tell the computer where the motors are currently positioned. I guess they figured it wasn't worth the expense.

It was already installed when I picked up my car. But now I know I can remove it if I want to.

New FSA Notice 13C02 - HEADLINER HEAD IMPACT PROTECTION
jdbob replied to ceemax71's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
Maybe a free helmet to wear while driving? It shows up on my Energi built early March as well. -
Page 344 of the owners manual (for energi, anyway). Rotate the large knob clockwise and use the black tube.
