  1. Maybe the dealers should shop at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-FA1911-ELEMENT-ASY-CLEANER/dp/B009B5THQ8/ref=sr_1_1 Oil Filter: http://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-FL-910S-Oil-Filter/dp/B0065UL18O/ref=pd_bxgy_auto_text_z Cabin Air Filter: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008PJDOSS/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
  2. Unfortunately there isn't. Normally it would be very inefficient to charge the HVB from the ICE. However there are good reasons to have that mode and other manufacturers offer it (even the Volt I think). For instance, if you find yourself entering a city center where there a fees for emissions or where only emissions free vehicles are allowed and you've already gone into hybrid mode. These restrictions are coming soon to some European cities, and who knows, maybe even to the states in a couple of decades. There is nothing in the hardware to prevent an Energi model from doing this, it's just a matter of Ford doing the software, yeah - right. I'd be surprised if they ever fixed the bug where it drops out of EV-Later when you turn the car on and off.

  4. Simple, all you have to do is to move to Europe.
  5. It should have come with two keys.
  6. Ooops - wrong forum. Just ignore me
  7. Could be. I just use EV only mode 340+ days of the year. Can't say for sure if I've ever tried "L" with the engine running. Not sure what the point of running the engine faster would be.
  8. It doesn't and "L" on a C-Max doesn't actually change any gears. All it does is use regenerative braking when you let off the "gas" pedal instead of coasting. Other manufacturers call it something else (someone calls it "B" mode I think) but I suspect they used "L" because they already had those plastic parts for another model :)
  9. Here's what little the ABS operation part of the workshop manual has to say: "During certain braking events, the friction brakes can be applied directly by the driver. The brake booster push rod is equipped with an adjustable stop, once the brake pedal travels far enough to engage the stop, the brake booster push rod is forced into the master cylinder and the conventional friction brakes are applied."
  10. There is a computer module called the "Image Processing Module - B (IPM-B)" that is used to send configuration (what sort of guidelines, whether to zoom, etc.) to the camera itself. As far as I can tell from the workshop manual it doesn't appear to do any actual image processing. But in any case the lockpick appears to "impersonate" that module so the car's display knows it needs to accept video input when put into reverse. It shouldn't be interfering with any other functions. The hardest part is wiring in the camera and running the wire to the front. Getting access behind the screen is pretty straightforward and their video is good. There is a video on youtube that shows opening up the tailgate to install a camera on a similar vehicle, there's probably a link to it in this thread someplace. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate it a 7.
  11. 1) Yes it automatically shows the camera in reverse. You can also have lockpick display the camera in any gear if you want, something you can't do with the stock system. 2) It's like with any after-market equipment, Ford would have to prove that it caused the fault. The main thing the lockpick does is to take the place of the computer module in the back of the car that is part of the stock system. It connects to one of the CAN busses and let's the display unit (called APIM) know there is a camera in the car. It does some other things like allow multiple cameras. Two things it won't do that the stock system will do is to generate lines on the screen that move depending on where your steering wheel is pointed (the cameras come with fixed lines) and there is no Zoom function.
  12. drdiesel1 was describing the Energi. The Hybrid doesn't have the heating element so the only source of heat is the ICE.
  13. Don't get him started
  14. Hybrid tank is 13.5 gallons. Energi tank is 14.0 gallons.
  15. They may have just run out of room under the hood. Another possibility is to keep it a short distance from the DC-DC converter used to charge the battery. "Depending on the vehicle and environmental conditions, the Direct Current/Direct Current (DC/DC) converter control module is capable of outputting as many as 145 amps to the 12-volt battery."
  16. Those are just connections, the actual battery is in the back of the car. Here's the back of my car with some of the plastic removed.
  17. It's extremely unlikely that the SYNC system would have USB 3.0 support.
  18. Since they've known about this since May, doesn't sound like they are in any real hurry either :) http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3787-safety-recall-14s04-reprogram-restraints-control-module/
  19. The document for the headliner recall might have some useful pictures. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/UCM442682/RCMN-13V303-5690.pdf
  20. Dealer stickers? They still do that? I thought they only advertised on license plate frames, at least for the last few decades.
  21. Not exactly. The charger does bring up the 12V battery voltage towards the end of the charging cycle. But once that is done the charging stops until one of the front doors is opened or remote start is used. So an Energi can sit for days with no charging being done so it is vulnerable just the same as the Hybrid.
  22. There is a slow-speed network connection from the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) to the water pump, nothing is simple any more. I don't have any information here that would say what the pump would do if there was a communication problem.
  23. From the wiring diagrams it doesn't appear so. The IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) computer appears to control both the left and right screens. However, there are inconsistencies in the workshop manual. The IPC section shows no connection to the 5-way steering wheel right-hand switches. However the section about the information and entertainment system shows those switches going to the IPC. My guess is that they do go to the IPC because they are used to scroll through the options on the right hand display. I would think that adding a "MyView" capability to the right-hand display is possible, just a victim of Ford half-baked software.
  24. The active noise control only works with the low frequencies from the engine, shouldn't effect sirens.
