  1. That DTC just showed up on my 2013, never seen it before. Last week I had the RCM replaced under recall. The other recall was to re-program the PCM but the SOBDM-C, SOBDM-A, BECM, ABS, and DCDC modules were also-reprogrammed. Don't know if that had anything to do with it.
  2. Good Tips! I'm making another attempt to have the RCM replaced. Tried to have it done last October but never heard back from the selling dealer. Trying another dealer.
  3. Tesla Model X also has variable height suspension.
  4. I've read that Elon has tweeted that the steering wheel (which had no buttons on it) is not what be in the final product. Probably have to wait until unveiling "Phase 2" before we know what the inside is really going to look like.

Sounds like the dealer trying to scam you. I remember getting an email from the dealer telling me I needed an oil change after 3 months or something ridiculous like that.
  6. Schaeffler is based in Germany so maybe they are modifying a European C-Max that uses a standard power train. Automakers have talked about going to 48V for at least a decade to power accessories such as A/C instead of using belt drive on the engine.
  7. Ford has no financial incentive to allow a dealer to bypass their cash-cow. An APIM with navigation enabled and one with it disabled probably isn't too different from one another. It could be some extra bit of hardware, or even just software settings that can only be accessed when it is opened up. In the earthquake monitoring systems I work with there is a connection internally that can be connected to a PC to access information only of use to engineers. That sort of setup could also be used to change a few bits to enable navigation. What would be expected is that someone got a hold of two APIM's, one with navigation enabled, and one with it disabled, and compared the two and found what the difference is. Just your basic hacking.
  8. My 1995 F-150 is on it's 3rd thermostat. In both cases when it started to go bad the coolant temperature would vary quite a bit, eventually drifting hotter and hotter.
  9. Item:18 Part Number:8A586 Description:Thermostat housing
  10. I like the front end. Two openings instead of 3, and better integration of the fog lights.
  11. In the letter to the dealers Ford only shows 1.7 hours "Labor Allowance". I wonder if that is all Ford will pay the dealer for, regardless of how long it takes.
  12. From Wikipedia: "The Ford Mondeo is a mid-size or large family car manufactured by Ford from 1992 onwards. The name comes from Latin mundus, meaning "world". The Mondeo was designed to be a "world car"; the North American models were marketed as the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique until 2000, and as the Ford Fusion from 2013 onwards." Ford started selling the C-Max Energi in the Netherlands in February and have sold 484 there (as of the of September).
  13. Sounds like they are just pointing out something that was already in the service manual. From the 5/17/2013 revision: "Diagnose all other DTCs first. If no other DTC is present no further action is necessary. This DTC does not affect system operation and will not illuminate a MIL."
  14. Search the forums for lockpick. That's what I used to add a camera to mine.
  15. As raadsel noted, it's the ultrasonic sensors (the dimples) on the bumper(s) that actually detect objects and activate the audio alarm. For cars with the factory backup camera the car apparently adds some visual cues about where the object is, based on the ultrasonic sensors, but it is not the camera that is detecting objects.
  16. The Hybrid doesn't have a cell phone connection. However the C-Max Energi, Fusion Energi, and Ford Focus Electric do have a cell phone connection built-in for the MyFord Mobile service. Maybe it's a good thing AT&T is shutting down that connection at the end of next year ;)
  17. That last digit would only matter if you actually believe the measurement (more of an estimate really) is actually that accurate. I would suggest that is extremely unlikely based on my engineering experience.
  18. Seems to be some confusion regarding module names. BCM - Body Control Module BECM - Battery Energy Control Module SOBDM is also referred to as BCCM - Battery Charger Control Module So which is it?
  19. The ANC is done within the Digital Audio Control Module. But since it's the one that drives all the speakers (except the center console speaker - if equipped) pulling F22 turns off your stereo as well. I would think that the only way to get rid of ANC would be to short out each of the 3 microphones. Probably a nightmare to find the right cable.
  20. Someone brought that desire up regarding the IOS version of FORScan. I believe they said they would look into that for a future version, as long as the modules were on the same CAN bus. They did fix a crash when deleting the last PID from a list (which was probably only on IOS version) and I did get them to fix the units for PID BAT_TO_EMPTY_ESTIM from Watt to kWh, which affected all versions.
  21. You can change the information displays between miles/kilometers and Fahrenheit/Celsius. The actual speedometer is an analog gauge so something in the instrument panel would need to be changed by the dealer - if possible.
  22. The canbus compatible bulbs just have a resistor in parallel to (hopefully) make the computer think there is a good bulb there. Unfortunately there isn't some international standard regarding how low the resistance needs to be. In the case of the license plate bulb on the C-Max I was reading 2V across the 2000 ohm resistor, so 2.0 / 2000 = 0.001 Amp (1ma). Some other car might run ten times that much current. Another variable is how the computer determines whether there is a good bulb or not, they could measure the voltage, but they could set the good/bad voltage threshold anywhere they wanted to. Without any standards no one can guarantee if it will work or not. I cleared the DTC that was there and I'll check again after another car on/off cycle to see if it comes back. If so, I change to a 1000 ohm resistor. Of course, the lower the resistance, the more heat it's going to give off, and I'll have to use a higher wattage to make sure it doesn't burn out.
  23. Without the resistor the car did think the bulbs were burned out.
  24. I just replaced my right-hand license plate bulb with the Sylvania. The left-hand light assembly had previously been replaced with an after-market rear-view camera assembly that included a white LED to replace the functionality of the removed light assembly. I found that one or the other LED would glow dimly even when the lights were supposed to be off. I measured the voltage and it was about 5V in that condition. I assume Ford is running a small current through the circuit and measuring the voltage to make sure both bulbs haven't burned out. The car didn't indicate any problem with the 5V but without knowing what voltage threshold they are using I decided to play it safe. I put a 2K ohm 1/4 Watt resistor across the bulb wires and that dropped the voltage to 2V and extinguished the LED.
