  1. How about just shopping anywhere where you get to the C-Max with an arm load? It's interesting now that even with the C-Max locked, it only takes one swipe/kick to open up the liftgate, instead of the 2 it used to require. Concerning placement of keys, I have mine on a carbineer on the hip.
  2. I wonder if Washington State has a similar program in place. Considering here in Washington, we have two toll roads now, plus Western Washington having the HOV Lanes.
  3. LMAO, If I was to do the same thing, I'd drive everyone nuts cause of having the backup alarm installed.
  4. You had the rear liftgate up to get that picture.
  5. We, owners of the C-Max Energi & C-Max Hybrid, might want to see about getting ahold of our city councils, county commissioners, & state officials to see about getting ordinances passed that define who can & cannot park in those spaces. With the current EV vehicles having a range of only about 75-100 miles, those spaces designated for EV or Energy Efficient spaces need to be treated the same as disabled/handicapped spaces where those who are not within an energy efficient vehicle get ticketed/fined. This may seem a bit overboard, however being that I am disabled, as well as having the C-Max, most times the Energy Efficient spaces are close to the door (in case the handicapped/disabled spaces are full). Setting up this new ordinance/regulation could help bring in additional monies for state/local coffers. Concerning the private businesses, one of those who have energy efficient spaces here is the power company. I have asked them why they have those spaces, if they're not monitoring who parks there & all they say is they cannot do anything about it, even though when they remodeled their office, those spaces were put in to show that they were welcoming to those vehicles.
  6. So in other words, as it is with Handicapped/Disabled parking, there has to be a local/county/state ordinance on the books in order to enforce it.
  7. Kahlotus is a very small community located a bit Northeast of Pasco. We get a lot of traffic going to Pullman for WSU. The town's population according to the 2010 Census is only about 190, whereas back during the 2000 census the population was about 500. We're a bit of a novelty here, as we had a backup alarm installed. (A few times, we've had LEOs looking for a Mack truck backing up). I just wish more people would pay attention to the backup alarm (I joke that we should be able to run into people who are walking behind us as they are ignoring the backup alarm).
  8. We've only had a few minor issues, one was with the EV battery (warranty covered), & the other is the SYNC with MFT update (which will be taken care of Monday). The sales/service dealership we go to is the only Ford dealership in a 30 mile radius. We've had a chance to test out the capabilities during the morning Seattle Metroplex rush hour, as well as driving in the Nevada high desert & the salt air of the Great Salt Lake Basin. During our trip down to Salt Lake, Fernley, NV & back, we averaged 38.6 MPG (the entire trip was about 1800 miles). The only thing I say they need to add to the C-Max is a back-up alarm, being how quit it is when backing up.
  9. As an additional note, the reason behind us getting the C-Max was not only cause the fuel mileage but also for the ease of getting in & out of it. Initially on September 27, my mother & I went to the dealership to look at an Escape, Focus, & Flex, as we were looking for a vehicle that would be both gas efficient & easy for a person getting total knee replacement done to get in & out of. I knew about the C-Max at the time & talked her into test driving it. She fell in love with it. The next day, we talked my dad into test driving the C-Max, & he fell in love with it as well. The rest you could say was history, as the paperwork was done, & that evening we had the C-Max in our driveway. For $5,000 less than a comparable equipped Escape, we got 10 more listed MPG. Neither the Focus or Flex were comfortable to get in or out of. In some ways, I know more about the C-Max than the sales staff at the dealership, & it would not surprise me if I helped sell a few C-Maxes. The vehicle we were using was a 1990 Plymouth Grand Voyager that was almost falling apart.
  10. I am curious if local law enforcement actually enforces the Energy Efficient Parking where only Hybrids, Plug-Ins, EVs, & Alternative Energy vehicles can park. Here in my region, there are a few different lots where there are Energy Efficient Parking available, however it seems neither the property owner(s)/business(es) nor law enforcement want to bother with enforcing who's allowed to park in those spaces. One of the units that has Energy Efficient Parking is a power utility, & they are not enforcing the guidelines. I am curious what the steps are to get proper enforcement done so that us C-Max owners/drivers can have places to park where the C-Max can be highlighted more.
  11. A question concerning the images: Does Portland enforce the Energy-Efficient Parking where the only vehicles allowed are Hybrids, Plug-Ins, EVs, & Fuel Cell?
  12. Right now, our average MPG is about 36.5. Due to some computer issues at the dealership, SYNC with MFT is currently not available, though that will be taken care of Monday. July 28 will be the 10 month mark of us having the C-Max. The build date was on Sept. 7, 2012. When we got it from the dealership, it was the 3rd one they sold, however the first Fully-loaded SEL they sold. For additional safety, we put in a back-up alarm, & people keep looking for a Mack Truck when it's sounding off. The few times we've used Active Park Assist, we were parked perfectly (all the times, so far was to show the feature off). When I can, I'll see about posting pictures.
  13. We've had our 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid SEL in Ingot Silver since September 28, 2012. In that time, we've put 28,339 miles on it. The reason for such high mileage is due to living 60 miles away from the metropolitan area near us (shopping, dr. appointments, etc.), as well as a trip down to Salt Lake City & Fernley, NV & back. In a week we are averaging about 300-350 miles.
