  1. Ford is pretty slow on the uptake when it comes to updating their website. My car got the 3.6.2 upgrade a week ago (and I confirmed that I have the latest version), but the web site still says I have 3.1.3. So I don't know why it takes them so long to update their website.
  2. I'm never going near zero so I will probably not make it into this club. I'm used to filling up at 1/4 tank. With MaxWell I know I can go longer. But I don't intend to go too deep into the last quarter tank.
  3. I am slowly approaching 40 at just over 1,000 miles. I do the best on my morning and evening freeway commutes, generally 40 or so to work and 42 to 48 on the way home. Even better if I take the freeway all the way rather than doing about 60/40 - freeway/streets.
  4. I agree with RaPieR. In my morning traffic I have a stretch of freeway where I can get up to about 65-70 and kick in EcoCruise and it works well. Trying to feather the pedal and keep it at 1 bar takes too much concentration when you are in morning traffic.
  5. I just got 50.9mpg on a 10 mile trip on fairly level freeway this evening. I normally use Ecocruise when I can, and tend to cruise between 62-68 or so unless I am getting passed by everybody. My 37.3 is slowly creeping up,and I expect to easily reach at least 40 mpg with no problems. This is with just over 900 miles.
  6. The car had 14 miles on it when I bought it, so i deducted that from the total miles for my first tank.

    FE progress

Second tank was not quite as good, and I am not sure why. However I finally got the latest updates, so that may have been a factor. Gallons: 10.28 Price/Gal: $3.679 Total Price: $37.82 Miles: 383.6 miles Fuel Economy: 37.2

  9. I jus got my second fuelup, first stats for Fuelly. I am currently getting 37.3 mpg @ 855.5 miles. I was a bit disappointed that I didn't go longer than 7 days before I had to fuel up, but that will improve over time, if what I have been reading is true.
  10. The C-Max still has the combination of mpg, features and price that I was looking for. My original choice was the Chevy Cruze Eco because I thought it would get me better gas mileage. Once I realized the mpg of the Cruze wasn't THAT much better ( than my Malibu) I started considering other options. So while I wish I had know the mpg was actually 43 and not 47 I am still satisfied.
  11. Well I dropped Maxwell (Yes I decided to name it "Maxwell". Creative, I know) off at the dealership close to work this morning and took a few shots of it while waiting. It turns out my home dealership supposedly did the MFT updates last week, when in fact, whatever they did install was not the latest software. I don't think they are up to speed on the software updates, so I won't use them for that in the future. I'll let them just do the routine maintenance.

    FE progress

A little more progress today. 50.3 mpg on my ride home today. It CAN be done, though granted, I am sure it's not so easy in cold weather.
  13. Mine still says I have 3.1.3 and they supposedly did the update last week. What gives?
  14. I just bought my C-Max on 8/10. At the time it had several release updates that all were the same - DM5T-14D544AD Gen2 - V3.1.3 Last week I took it to the dealership to get all of the latest updates and the one they installed said the same as above. Is there somewhere in the Sync system to check your version? I certainly can't find it.

    FE progress

I have plenty of opportunities to do that between the canyon and home. Lots of street traffic.

    FE progress

I actually take a canyon route home rather than going down the hill. The freeway is brutal in the evening, so if I can avoid it I do. This afternoon I stayed on EcoCruise as much as possible between 55-60mph. Between the canyon and the streets I got 48.1 mpg without too much effort. Not bad.
  17. So I had my first fuelup on Sunday after about 8 days of driving the C-Max. In my old Malibu that would have probably been two fuelups! I signed up for Fuelly but I am using odometer readings so my stats won't show until next fillup. Here's my unscientifc calculation based upon my first week or so of driving. Gallons: 11.34 Price/Gal: $3.959 Total Price: $37.68 Miles: 457 miles (Odometer 471.9) Fuel Economy: 40.3 mpg Not too bad considering I didn't know what I was doing yet. Still getting the hang of driving for fuel economy. But that is my primary purpose for buying a hybrid, so I am doing okay so far. Anything above 40 mpg is a win for me, but I am determined to prove that I can get above the new quoted number of 43 mpg.
  18. I've had the C-Max for a little over a week now and I am getting the hang of this "fuel efficiency mambo" with the hybrid. At first it seemed like a lot of work, but as I become more accustomed to watching my heavy foot, it is getting easier. Today I averaged about 42+mpg on my drive in to work. It is about 70% freeway/30% street, with a pretty serious hill climb for about the last 4 to 5 miles. In EcoCruise mode I have been able to get up to around 70 in EV mode for some stretches. BTW, I got the latest FE update last Wednesday. I didn't have the car long enough to really tell if there was much of a difference. But it does seem like I am able to get EV mode easier and at higher speeds than originally. My overall average has been creeping up steadily and I am now over 36mpg. I will be happy with an overall average of over 40mpg if I can maintain that without having to drive like grandma.
  19. nsteblay Thanks for the explanation. I am just starting to understand some of the techniques for driving to improve FE and this certainly helps. All of these acronyms make me feel like I'm back in the Navy!
  20. Please explain what "blip the throttle to go back in negative split mode" means?
  21. I saw an Ice Storm Metallic C-Max just as I was leaving work on Friday. The guy must work nearby where I do. A week ago I saw a silver one (like mine) parked at the OC Fairground as we were leaving the fair. That's it so far. They say Ford has sold a lot of them in SoCal, but all I see are Priuses everywhere!
  22. Duh! I thought I still had that problem today so I checked again and it was the AM/PM setting. It should be fine now.
  23. Mine was done on Wednesday. I was a bit surprised they hadn't done it before they sold it, but they made sure to get me in this week to take care of it.
