The cold weather and snow has taken a toll on my MPG. The last tank hand calculated is not quite 30.6 mpg. This is my wifes car and she puts the majority of the miles on it and bundles herself up so she can stay in EV mode as much as possible. There is slightly over 1400 miles on the car...

My car is back from the dealer and appearantly I already have the latest updates and the problem with my door handles not locking or unlocking the car mysteriously fixed itself yesterday after not working for a week so there is "nothing wrong" with them. I guess I will travel with some sort of back-up NAV system. Like was mentioned before by someone else, the car shows the correct street it is sitting on until you turn on the NAV with a programmed destination. There are times it looks like I am 1/4 mile off the interstate and as soon as my "flying" car comes across a secondary road the NAV starts to recalculate...

My car is in the shop right now, and one of the things on the list was to make sure the car was 100% up to date on NAV and MFT/SYNC. I currently have a 2005 BMW and have in the past owned a 2006 Chrysler both of which had factory NAV and they both were every bit as accurate as my Garmin. Some ppl have said that a microsoft based system will never be very good.

Keyless Entry - Flaky Behavior
shaners replied to nsteblay's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
John, I have no idea what was going on in my car. All I know is no matter how many times I pushed the the "hard" power button it would not respond and the radio continued to play. I truelly believe the delears response will be "could not duplicate" -
Keyless Entry - Flaky Behavior

Ours quit working altogether a few days ago. You now have to take the key out of your pocket and push the button on the fob to lock or unlock the doors. It is going to the dealer on Thursday to have this problem looked at along with several other "gremlins" that have appeared in the last 10 days or so. I am wondering if my BCM is going bad, because 2 days ago when I was going to the store I pushed the power off button for the radio. It continued to play and nothing I could do would shut it off. When I got to the store I pushed the button to shut the car down and it "thanked" me for driving a hybrid and the radio continued to play... I opened the door, got out and shut it and the radio still continued to play! I had to re-enter and exit the car before it finally shut off. -
We put aftermarket 16" aluminum wheels and Michelin X-ice 3 snow tires on our car. It made a huge difference in traction and the car stops and goes almost like it were on dry roads! I have about a 4-5 foot climb as soon as I pull out of the garage to get up to street level, and all-season tires don't cut it for me...

It is very easy to program your garage door opener to one of those buttons. Now you won't have to have that bulky remote hanging on your visor, and you will never have to replace a dead battery in it!

The Michelin X-ice 3 tires we put on our Cmax are awesome. We passed several ppl in the ditch tonight... my wife couldn't make them spin without help from the ICE (gas motor). I think the Cmax with good snows will tackle anything within reason.

Car unlocked by itself - anybody else?

If you have the key in your pocket then you need to keep your hands away from the outside door handle except to touch the black square with you thumb! -
When I put my snow tires and wheels on I elected to go without the TPMS sensors. It was probably a week before the yellow light came on, and when it finally did we were on a trip. All the other driving was short trips around town, so that is probably why it took so long for the light to activate. I have the Michelin X-Ice 3 tires inflated to 40 psi to help with rolling resistance. I put 16" wheels and tires on and since the sidewall is much taller than the stock tires, I don't notice any difference in ride quality.

I have been having problems with things freezing up due to a long running script error.
-
I took about a 90 mile trip Saturday and the light finally came on after about 45 miles.
-
Someone here has had problems with their power steering (amongst other things) when they backed up.
-
Mine comes on when I am about 3/4 mile from home.

Not sure of the build date... We have had it about 3-4 weeks and we bought it as soon as it hit the lot. Maybe the SD-NAV card is older. The mapping and the GPS location of the car were not SYNCed. My old Garmin and my old 2006 map in my BMW are dead on! I will have to go to the dealer.

I just took a 100 mile trip and over and over my NAV kept think I had driven off the edge of the interstate and was driving through the woods or something. It kept recalculating and telling me how to get back on the highway! The worst thing was when I was really close to my destination and really needed it, it thought I was off the road and needed to reroute! Luckily I had remember the directions that the person had given me...

Disconnect low-voltage battery? (Frozen MyFordTouch screen)
shaners replied to csavage7's topic in General Discussion
There is a way to reboot it yourself... I did it with mine but I don't remember how I did it. I believe it is in the manual somewhere. -
Yep they are a little smaller. But I bought on price... because I will only be running it a few months out of the year. You can't beat a Michelin X-ice (3) for winter traction. My wife will have to adjust her MPG mentally by a few percent. Also, BTW, I didn't have the TPMs sensors intalled in these tires but I have yet to get a light on the dash!
-
We have it on our car but only because we bought the car out of dealer stock. I would never have considered ordering a car with it. Now that we have had the car a month it is actually pretty nice because it makes the car feel much larger than it really is. The power sunshade in the summer will be nice too since it will block alot of the suns heat. I am glad I bought off the lot now and didn't order now...

I bought this set from Discount tire direct. I used a 2013 Ford Focus Titanium as my "search" vehicle and then chose the -1 size which is 16". The wheels are MB wheels (Sprite) 16x7 and the tires are 215/55/16. The wheels actually have 2 sizes built into them (10 holes). These ones are 5-115 or 5-108 (I believe it is the 5-108 that we need for our cars) and have a 38sm offset. The overall diameter is the same as stock with the tires mounted. I am running 40 psi in them to help with rolling resistance Just use a 2013 5-door Focus Titanium when you search and it should fit right up!

I don't think there is enough clearance in the front wheel wells to fit chains in there without them tearing up the inner fenders. We have only had one snowfall here in Western PA so far this winter. My wife said the stock Michelin tires were not very good and she had problems stopping, starting and turning, so I ordered a set of 16" aluminum wheels and Michelin "X-ice 3" tires for her car.

After 1000 miles have you ever had a problem with your C-Max?
shaners replied to zhackwyatt's topic in General Discussion
Mine has done this before too, but as someone mentioned it is a known glitch. Hopefully Ford has addressed it in the new software updates. If you switch from Sirius to FM and back, the presets will reappear. -
We have probably put 50 miles on and still no light... I wonder if it picks up the sensors from the stock tires in the basement when the car is parked at home?
-
Here is proof that 16" wheels will fit on your C-max. I just put these wheels and winter tires on ours today.
-
I just mounted my 16" winter tires and wheels on the C-max. I didn't want to spend the extra money for the TPMS sensors and figured that we would deal with the warning light staying on for a few months. Oddly enough, the light is not on! I am not complaining! When you start the car it does a system check and the light goes out just like it always did...
