  1. I will PM you with some ideas. :) Paul
  2. Good Job! :) Just curious if you added Grill Covers, they are worth another +2MPG's. :) Paul
  3. dmk2000 It seems to me you are over stating the issue, when it happens once every 2-6months and can be easily solved in about five minutes with jumper battery. Most New Cars have minor issue that sometimes aren't even worth bothering the dealer about. I think the FORD Dealer should be notified every time you have a dead battery because that is the only way they will know if they have solved your issue or not. :) I think we have talked about this before and there was a concern that the drain on the battery could be more than a battery tender could put out, but it could make the 12v battery last longer which might be good enough. :) Paul
  4. Maxy if you don't want to have 12v batt. problems just connect a 12v Batt. Charger every nite set on low amp charge, only takes about a minute to do, problem solved. Then the only time you're going to have a dead 12v batt. is when it fails or when you are away from home for a extended period of time and jumper battery will solve those problems. Only down side to this is that the real problem isn't being solved. I guess you could update the CMAX every-time FORD comes up with a new solution. I'm charging up my jumper battery as I write this so I'm ready if I need it. I have had a few incidents where other people needed a jump and I didn't have it with me. :) Paul
  5. You are right it's +2.1% to the better. BTW GPS is very accurate and you can prove it out watching mile markers and comparing the GPS distance, then the Odometer. It is very obvious. Like I mentioned New tires were +2.1 and old tires were +1.4%. I was unable to find out how often a Garmin updates per second. :) Paul
  6. To eliminate confusion Shutters open when you shut off the car (usually), turn on the A/C, Defrost and at 210*F WT at slow speeds(less than 55mph) or 215*F WT above 55 mph. The rest of the time they are closed. The noise you hear first must be brakes pumping up, because like you say if you put your foot on the brakes you hear the sound and will keep doing it if you step on the brakes again. Apparently shutter operation is pretty quiet. This info is covered in Grill Cover Thread. :) Paul
  7. I use actual gas pumped and actual GPS mileage. Best to check Odometer accuracy on a trip, my last trip on one leg I went 501.8mi. on odometer and 512.7mi. on GPS which works out to 1.021% which = 1mpg's at 50mpg. :) Paul
  8. It would be interesting to know how far off the uncorrected Smart Gauge(Not So Smart Gauge) is off. LOL :) Paul
  9. Great Job HannahWCU! Are you using the Smart Gauge Odometer for your Fuelly Mileage? I use GPS corrected mileage which is 1.019% now with new tires, but was 1.014% with 65K mile tires. I hope to join you in next week or so, currently 46.9MPG LifeTime with 46MPG's Fuelly. :) Paul
  10. I also agree and we will miss you. You have been with us since the beginning. Paul
  11. Remember the car doesn't stop when you run out of gas, it just goes into EV Mode. I have run out three times and EVed into a Gas Station. If you are running low on gas keep the HVB charged. LOL :) Paul
  12. I'm confused, I just said you're getting better MPG's than you think you are, that is a good thing in my book. :) Paul
  13. Time for a Oil Pan Heater. LOL :) It's worth a few MPG's on short trips. Paul
  14. GEE! you had atleast another gallon, 50 miles! LOL Good Job :happy feet: Paul
  15. Here are threads that covers Grill Covers "CMAX Grill Cover Testing, 2-5 MPG Gain " and Oil Pan heaters 2 MPG Improvement with Oil Pan Heater . From my almost 2yrs of testing Grill Covers are the most effective way to improve MPG's all year around and especially during the Winter. CMAX shutters leak a lot of cold air so Grill Covers are more effective in keeping the ICE hot (above 202*F WT). With City driving the ICE never gets to 202*F( start of optimum operating temp range for ICE.) without Grill Covers!!! :sos: ICE Block Heaters and Oil Pan Heaters save MPG's for the first approx. 10 minutes of driving time(short trips) where as Grill Covers save MPG's all the time. :shift: Oil Pan heaters are easy to install and shorten the heat up time for ICE, but aren't as good as ICE Block Heater. Unfortunately unless your CMAX came with one it isn't easy to install afterward. I have one to install and attempted to install it, but you have to at least loosen the exhaust manifold if not remove it from cylinder head to get enough room to unscrew freeze plug and screw in ICE Block heater. I will try to find someone to help install it before Winter gets here. :) Paul
  16. You didn't get a jumper battery? It is time to get one, this doesn't have to be a problem and you know how to jump it now. No big deal. :) Paul
  17. If you want to feel better check your Odometer, it is probably off by 1.5-2% which improves MPG's by about .5mpg's or so. :) Paul
  18. If you want to fell better check your Odometer it is off by 1.5-2% witch improves MPG's by about .5mpg's or so. :) Paul
  19. I'm seeing more around too. I drive by a house that has NRG CMAX and FUSION. :) Paul
  20. To set the story straight it was Dec 5, 2012 when I got my first 608mi tank, didn't get my CMAX until Oct. 2012. LOL Also it was a year ago when I made my first actual 909mi tank that I thought it would be possible to get a thousand mile tank, but haven't done it yet. I was hoping to do it averaging 40mph, but doesn't look like that is going to happen. :drop: Paul
  21. Great! Now check on where to connect it under the hood in your owners manual so if you do have a problem you will be ready for it, 5 min. and you're on your way. Turning a problem into a minor announce. :) Paul
  22. Congratulations! :happy feet: I knew you could do it. By my calculations you actually went 915mi. You can really tell you were City driving averaging 21mph, stop and go driving kills average speed. Also by my calculations you were on fumes when you gassed up. I have run out 5 times and only once was the Smart Gauge higher 13.67gal (13.77gal. and I filled it to the top)! Great Job! :woohoo: :shift: Paul
  23. You sound like you don't have a jumper battery or you wouldn't have to worry about a dead battery. It seems like most people have dead batteries at night anyway. :) Paul
