Sounds like you are worried about over heating. You can set MyView to show temp gauge if you want. I run around with both Grill Covers all the time, no problems and it will improve your MPG's. Oil Pan Heater wouldn't hurt too. :) Paul

You haven't said what the FORD Dealer thinks is your problem with the car just dying when your driving it. Did they check the ground connection? BTW a jumper battery will always start the car with a dead battery, It may require the disconnecting CMAX battery's Positive cable which takes a minute or two to do with a socket wrench. Then reconnecting it when car starts up. Has FORD said they can't fix your CMAX? I pretty sure they want to fix your CMAX once they can figure out what the problem is. Have you PM Rachel our FORD REP about your problems?http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3310-official-ford-service-rep/?p=50720 It would be good start. :) Paul

Also you still have the hand brake if you need to stop. :) Paul

You are right. Hard to keep up with changes and it just slip my mind. Thanks :) Paul

Have you installed Grill Covers yet? :) Paul

That is a shame, because I would do to if it was my CMAX, I just don't consider this much of a problem if I have a simple solution for it. I don't understand why people have to make a big deal out of this when It only takes a couple of minutes to jump start the car and I'm on my way. Most people go months between dead batteries. :shift: IMHO :) BTW non Hybrid cars have dead batteries too and they have to replace the battery. Paul

If you have a voltmeter plugged into your power point and the car in the on position you read 13.9-14.2v. I have seen as low as 11.4v before turning the car on and it still starts. I'm not sure if the car even needs a 12v batt. once it's started. It will be interesting to hear what FORD says. :) Paul

Did you get Crystal our Rep. involved? :) Paul

Have you taken your CMAX to FORD Dealer yet? :) Paul

I think it is blatantly obvious that you have an NRG and they didn't show you how to plug it in. LOL :drop:  :lol2: Paul

Grill Covers should be the first thing you do IMO and they can be as simple as covering your grills with packing tape. You will be impressed by the improvement. :) Paul

There are lots on ebay too. :) Paul

I'm wondering if that isn't a grounding problem like corrosion on the battery cable connection. It could be a bad cell in the 12v battery. It will be interesting to see what the FORD Dealer comes up with.I would think they would replace the 12v. IMO :) Paul

It sure would be interesting if someone would try out my extra battery solution on Post #23 :) Paul

Got tide-up this week, try tomorrow. ;) Paul -
Let us know how it works out. I hope you have a jumper battery in the mean time. :) Paul

I replaced my Michelin's at 65Kmi. running at 50psi with a difference of 1/64" from outside to inside edges. I haven't noticed any significant difference in handling and braking. In the rain a smaller contact patch with the road is better to keep from hydroplaning. Even tire wear is an indication of proper tire inflation. So with 76Kmi. on my CMAX I can't see any good reason not to run 50psi. IMO :) Paul

Congratulations on your new CMAX! Here are some useful bits of info concerning your CMAX. A lot of us CMAXers use Fuelly.com to keep track of our gas mileage. Also if you check your odometer with GPS you will find it's off by about 2% so if you go 500mi. on the odometer, you actually have gone 510mi. On the other side have you noticed that when you fill up you use .5-1gal. more than the Smart Gauge says, Fuelly.com is a good way to keep track of actual MPG's.. With temps going down so does MPG's and you might look into making Grill Covers and adding Oil Pan Heater to minimize the problem, they are worth about 4-5mpg. IMHO :) Paul

Smart monitor for 12v battery
ptjones replied to DaveofDurham's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Great Idea, but the solution is to be able to monitor all the CMAX computers to see what is going on to cause the discharge of 12v batt. IMO :) Paul -
I want to see a picture, I've seen the Hyundia Zombie mobile at Atlanta Car Show. LOL :) Paul

Unlike non Hybrid(ICE) Vehicle the CMAX doesn't stop when you run out of gas, you just keep EVing along until your HVB gets low, 1/2 to 2+ miles depending on your SOC. You also get a yellow gas symbol when you hit 80mi. to go. If you are going for a record it would be wise to put a 2 gallon gas can in the car when you are getting close to empty, it's worth at least 80mi. and if you are real good 140mi. LOL :) Paul

The Short and Simple answer is get a 2015 SEL and you shouldn't have any significant problems. BTW your gas mileage is a reflection of how much effort you put in to it. Many of us CMAXers are getting 50+mpg regularly. It is fun to challenge yourself to do better than last time. I have three tanks of +60mpg on cross country trips. :)
