What are your driving impressions of the three cars? :) Paul
-
Well I did some research on the 12 volt Battery and came up with some interesting INFO. Someone may have done this already. The 12v battery in car Part# BXT-67R-390CCA yet in the OM the replacement batteries listed are Part# BXT-96R-500CCA and BXT-96R-590CCA. The dimensions of BXT-67R are 8"L X 6"W X 7" H. The only place I could find a battery for CMAX other than FORD was Batteries+Bulbs Part# SLI 96R for $107 9.56"L X 6.87"W X 6.87" H. This would be a great solution if it fits, going from 390CCA to 600CCA with 60% more power may eliminate dead 12v battery problem. IMO :) Paul

Do you have a Jumper Battery, that will make life a lot easier. Good Idea to find where to connect up to under the hood, It's in Owners Manual. The research I did awhile ago showed SEL's out numbered SE's better than two to one. FORD is pushing sales of only 5% SE's. for 2015. :) Paul

I thought the Fusion was made in Mexico. :) Paul

It would sure be interesting if someone with the battery problem put the biggest battery Amp Hrs in the car and see if this makes a difference. This maybe the simplest solution although not solving the problem. I'm assuming you have a Jumper Battery, this is not a significant problem if you have one. I have two years and 75Kmi. on my CMAX and never had the problem and it would seem that most CMAXers haven't. :) Paul

I think most of us had the same experience. The reality is that this FORUM is the best resource for learning about Hybrid's and CMAX's specifically of any resource out there. IMHO I have seen a couple of CMAX commercials recently, apparently you have to watch the right channel. :) BTW My youngest daughter has a FreeStyle with around 140K miles on it and I'm sure she will put 200K before she gets something else. BTW I helped her change her front brakes for the second time last week. She does most of the simple stuff like oil and filter change and plugs and wires. Paul

You are dating the Service Manager? LOL I believe ICE block heater can be installed by loosening the exhaust manifolded and pulling away from block and worst case remove cat. bolts, exhaust nuts and remove exhaust manifold. Maybe half an hour job. Sure would be nice in all CMAX's came with block heaters. :) Paul

Prius should not catch fire, there should be an NTSB investigation and recall. All Prius's should be parked until they find the cause of this life threatening issue. OH NO, my daughter has one, I need to text her. :drop: Paul

I'm impressed by the amount of effort you put into this replay, Good Job kostby  Paul

It was in the 50's this morning and highs in 70's this week. Should be working it's way down there. :) Paul

All Electrics don't make sense unless you have another vehicle and you are able to go and come back and still have plenty of power left. I have a friend with a Leaf and Honda Ridgerunner so he has his bases covered. :) Paul

Won't make 120miles LOL :) Paul

You can make a lot of that up with grill covers and block and oil pan heaters. IMO :) Paul

I forgot about the warranty issue, block heater is a FORD part. I wonder if there would be any circulation with the thermostat closed. :) Paul

Had some fun going from Callaway Gardens to Pine Mountain. :) Paul

Plus 3 Golfer Thanks for the input. I'm not sure where to put it so there would be circulation into the block. I like the block heater because it doesn't restrict the flow of coolant, but it is going to be a pain to install. Oil pan heater is a no brainier to install, anyone can do it. IMO :) Paul

I'm not sure with that many miles per day a plugin is cost effective. Plugin cost more and usually doesn't get as good gas mileage in Hybrid mode. It would make a lot more sense if you were driving 20-40mile per day. IMO :) Paul
-
The Higher the voltage the smaller the wire and less weight and cost. You probably can't get electricuted at 48v. :) Paul

also Day or Night. :) Paul

Just curious have you changed the airfilter? Have you tried injector cleaner? I tried Techron injector cleaner at around 65K and MPG's went down a couple for the tank, but went up a couple better on the next. tank. :) Paul
-
Probably came down to the cost of changing everything. Airplanes have been using 28v systems for 15years or so. :) Paul

Sorry to hear about your GoPro, It's good you got some info from the test. What I would like to do is to attach a piece of cardboard vertical on the back of car with tuffs on it. Extending a couple of feet so you could see whats happening with the airflow behind the car. That way you could monitor what happens when you add spoiler or other aeromods. :) Paul

$90k Mercedes S500 Hybrid guilt-trips drivers into better mpg's

I usually try to drain the HVB before going downhill so I can recharge the HVB and not running out of room in it, wasted energy. :) Paul -
I'll ask the same question here, has anyone had a dead 12v battery not at home? :) Paul
