You don't get the best MPG's using cruise control in a CMAX and I'm wondering if that was computer estimate mileage. The cheaper NIRO has the skinnier tires and weights quiet a bit less. The touring more similar MPG's. 38 mpg is low for a CMAX at 65 mph, should be 44-45 mpg. Paul

Mileage and Build date for eCVT that have failed
ptjones replied to Automate's topic in eCVT / Transmission
I had mine done at a FORD Dealership that had done 3 and still got bad scratch on front bumper. Here is a pic of ICE/Trans out of car. Paul -
Here is a thread I started comparing CMAX vs NIRO vs PriusV. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/6492-2017-ford-cmax-kia-niro-and-toyota-prius-v-mpg-test-drives/page-1 My take away was CMAX is an all around better performance Hybrid. You can get better mpg's if driven correctly. http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/6568-how-to-drive-a-cmax-hybridffh-to-get-great-gas-mileage/page-1 Paul

I'm not aware of any trans failing although wearing a hole in the side of trans is pretty close. Paul -

I would have it done at a FORD Dealer that has done several and by the mechanic that has done it. It is a big job. Paul -
Not sure what to make of it, you could get a ScanGaugeII or other OBDII scanner and see the actual HVB SOC. I think we have been this way before, You don't need to worry about the HVB in that you only use 1/3 of the HVB and actual use of 15% most of the time. We haven't heard of anyone having to replace a HVB. I have 239k miles and the HVB works great. :) I have seen Cabs with 350k miles for sale. The car will fall a part before the HVB does. Paul

I think it is important that you change the direction of rotation every time and going front to back keeps the wear even. IMO In adverse weather conditions you want the most thread in the back, that can be problematic for even tire wear. :headscratch: Paul
-
It does make a difference rotating them often and I cross rotate so the tires go the opposite direction every time. Front tires wear about three times as fast as rears. I left my new rears on for 15k miles and they only lost 1/64th. I put the old rears on the front to wear out and they say to put your best tires on the back when the tires are getting down on tread. At 50 psi I don't the tires get as noisy. Paul
-
93V you can go upto 51 psi and they cost less and original OEM tire. 94V cost more and 44 psi is max psi. Paul

Sat in ICE SEL and setting position seems similar to CMAX , but not as wide. Escape is a little more roomier and longer. Display seems smaller, didn't drive it, Dealer has Titanium Hybrid on order for me to try out. Still thinking Plugin. Paul
-
Well that kills that idea, I'm not interested in EV and I need space to haul stuff. Back to 2020 Escape Hybrid/Plugin, wonder if standard ICE Escape will feel like Hybrid to drive. Paul

I wonder what the New Mustang Hybrid is going to be like, MPG's? Paul

Not having a spare hasn't been a problem for me with 238k miles, a few screw/nail holes fixed, but no flats. :) At the beginning I thought about getting a spare , but never did. Paul

How to Drive a CMAX Hybrid/FFH to get Great Gas Mileage
ptjones replied to ptjones's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Filled up today and even with about 100 miles in the rain, temps 35-80*F I was able to average 53.2 mpg with 718.2 mi./13.5 gal. of Premium at $2.65 at BJ's. With temps going down MPG's will go down too. Paul -
Magnetic oil pan heater would be nice if it wasn't aluminum. When did they say the Hybrids would be available? Paul

How to change engine air filter!
ptjones replied to Degrandbob's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
It is a real pain to remove, I have removed twice in 238k miles and it didn't look bad either time. Use gloves, there are many places to cut your hands. Don't think it helps MPG's, but max acceleration is improved and K&N helps a little more, MADMAX really gets up goes when you nail it. :) Paul -
Your right, I've got a 2016 F150 4X4 with towing package for that, but I still haven't towed anything. I have hauled a lot in the back though. :) Paul
-
Turning radius really wouldn't make a difference to me, some times it's a little annoying, but wouldn't be considered in the buying process. :) When replacing MADMAX interior space has to be at least as good as CMAX, I came from a 2010 FEH and missed the extra space. Has to get good MPG's and Sporty to drive. Have good info system. Paul

I find it weird they don't call it a Escape Hybrid SE AWD instead of saying what ICE it comes with. :headscratch: Paul
-
Michelin makes a 215/65-17 ES which would improve mpg's, but a little narrower. Just noticed Michelin makes a 225/65-17 ES interesting it's 27.3" in diameter vs 28" for 215/65-17 that seems weird. Paul
-
Just tried it and you are right! But if you are moving in neutral with ICE on it will charge the HVB, how weird. :headscratch: Paul
-
People are buying used CMAX's and want to get info on the car, there is about 100k CMAX's out there IIRC which will bring new members here. Paul
-
I'm confused, you got a brand new transmission for free - warranty cost and that is a kick in the teeth? I would be excited that the car had a new transmission, cars worth more. :) Paul
-
That is strange, mine charges in neutral with the ICE on. :headscratch: I wonder if you have AC/Heater on and it is taking more power than charging system is supplying. I'm not sure that is even possible. Paul

What size of tires do they use on the Hybrid? What is the difference between Hybrid vs ICE model. Paul
