  1. Going to page 286-7 in owners manual it explains how Fail-Safe Cooling Works. If the engine begins to overheat, the engine coolant temperature gauge will move to the red (hot) are and:The coolant temperature warning light will illuminate. The service engine soon indicator will illuminate. If the engine reaches a preset over-temperature condition, the will automatically switch to alternating cylinder operation. Each disabled cylinder acts as an air pump and cools the engine. When this occurs the vehicle will still operate. However: The engine power will be limited. The air conditioning system will be disabled. Continued operation will increase the engine temperature and the engine will completely shut down, causing steering and braking effort to increase. Once the engine temperature cools, the engine can be restarted. Take your vehicle to an authorized dealer as soon as possible to minimize engine damage. The FORD Service Mgr seemed to think a chime would also sound. Bottom line is that in worst case scenario the ICE will protect itself from over heating with the covers on during the summer with AC on. BTW 40% coolant cools better than 50% coolant according to Manual. I hope someone can copy those pages and post them.
  2. That is what we call P&G, Pulse and glide. It's good you figured it out. You could gain another 2-4MPG's with Grill Covers.
  3. I got it to work this time when I saw the ET. Thanks
  4. Yes I did and I I think I pushed down arrow and saw MyView.
  5. I must be doing something wrong, I pushed the OK button and and started the car and empower window stayed on. Darn!
  6. This is the new brochure with pertinent information on C-Max Grill Cover Set. Can be used all year round to improve fuel economy. If you are interested in seeing how the cover set looks and how to install, please visit my gallery. Brochure C-Max Grill Cover Set.pdf
  7. Volt batteries caught fire a few days later when they got moister in them.
  8. I not sure how that will work with center Grill Cover. I still would remove holder and install license plate on cover. At least there would be any holes in bumper.
  9. Check out 3MPG gain thread in fuel mileage forum, the Grill Covers should be worth 2-3mpg improvement.
  10. Read the Fuel Mileage Forum threads, they have good info on how to improve MPG's.
  11. I had a 2010 FEH too and ended up with CMAX SEL, My wife said it's more comfortable.
  12. Volt uses Lithium-ion battery and they problems after crashes, few days later. Our battery is smaller.
  13. Fuel pump would only be on when ICE is on and if you run out why would you the ignition on? I don't think IMO that you could run lean more than a very short time. I in-reverently ran out gas in my 2010 FEH with no problems, turn out gas tank .2 gal smaller than 15gals it was suppose to be. I think stopping as soon as it happens is a good idea. The FEH took about 1/2mi to run out.
  14. There is a ton of info in Mileage forum and then maybe I can interest you in a Grill Cover set to increase your MPG's. :)
  15. At this point FORD is doing a good job selling the CMAX for the Dealers so they don't have to know anything is what I have found. Eventually the demand will drop and dealers will have to sell CMAX's which should be interesting, they don't even know how to drive them to get good MPG's or setup Smart Gauge and Settings.
  16. On my record trip My trip gauge had 12.67gal and it took 13.35gal. I have had a differential up to one gallon difference on a tank so I get nerves at 12.5gal. No one has run out of gas yet so we don't know how far we can go. On my record trip I went 4.5mi past zero mile to empty and I was EVing like crazy the last 15mi. Maybe this tank I will run it to empty and carry gas can at the end of tank and record how many mi. past empty, how many gal. I used and how many it actually takes to fill it up. It would be nice to know in a emergency.
  17. I get very worried at 12.5gal =13.35gal actual on trip gauge. It will stay until you start the engine.
  18. I would like to be able to charge the battery at home and work.
  19. Good for you. :) And you did it without Grill Covers, just think you could have got a couple more MPG's at least with them.
  20. It should be in the 40's. It interesting to see what temps you are running with AC on. Setup My View with Empower on left and Temp gauge on right. Better yet get a ScanGauge to see what your actual temps are. Very few of us have seen those temps, probable a month or to off yet.
  21. I have used ECO cruise at 66mph, I will check it again.
  22. Thanks for the heads up on the FOB I hadn't even though about it. My key is inside the FOB.
  23. My Iphone3 works with my wife's New Explore.
