When I tested mine they were not hot. I'm not sure if the inverter radiator is separate or not? Ford is not worried about it because there is no sensor for it. Covers don't block all the air flow. Paul

I don't think this is a issue, Put your hand on the hoses and you will see if they are hot.

Yes I did, but my iphone3 keeps getting drop in the middle of phone calls. They blame it on my phone. Looking at going to 4 or 5iphone. The rain and wind are the biggest killers of MPG's.

I had both covers on blocking the opening. I haven't tried using the average climate load, will have to look into that. The fan does run some of the time when the car is moving, maybe all the time not sure. My point was that you can't hurt the engine in almost all conditions. Going uphill seems to be the only possible problem area. The engine runs cooler with AC on than with it off to start with and no covers.

I'm almost finished with my divorce and it has really done a number on me. I just extended My warranty to 100K and 4years. I do to much highway to be able to get past 650miles. I just drove 3K miles this weekend.

I was able to finally get to 245degress with Grill Covers on and the temp for the top white mark on MyView temp gauge.is 245degress. It took 91 degrees outside temp, AC going, going up hill for awhile at 71 mph. Engine temp is directly related to speed going uphill.` dropping from 71mph to 62mph and going into EV some of the time would drop the temp by 15-20degress. Having the grill covers on doesn't effect AC very much to my surprise.

I currently have 15 over 600mi with 30,132 miles. Time for second oil change.

I am back! I have more information to post, but will do that later. This is my 46th fill-up. 10th 600+ mile tank. This is my best tank so far. I will be pushing for 700 miles this coming tank.

The trip gauge had 595.3mi, 318.8EV, 46.7mpg and 12.74gal and I adjusted for odometer and actual gallons.
-
Your smart gauge should be aleast 46mpg because it reads high, I did it with 44.9 actualmpg.

From the album: 2013 C-Max
New Record -
I got NEW RECORD 631.1mi/13.4gal and 47mpg. Numbers are adjusted for odometer being off 1.5%. Now 6 tanks over 600mi, I see a 700mi tank this summer! Oviously I'm not doing this right, didn't expect the picture to so little.

I HAVE FOUND THE ILLUSIVE MPG SWEET SPOT!
ptjones replied to Generalbeluga's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
It is illogical because they say speed effects the shutter opening and closing which it doesn't. -
The problem is not drafting, It's not paying attention to the road in front of you. You shouldn't drive any closer than your reaction time and you deffinately can stop faster than a Semi. Crash test don't count for reality, there just a deminstration what could happen if you aren't paying attention. BTW it is closer to 3-4mpg at 70mph+

I think their explanation is illogical. If speed was important they would be closed all the time at least above 45mph for aero improvement, but the ICE is more heat the faster you go it needs the cooling power of being open. -

Thanks Plus 3 for checking the shutters. For the record when I tested the shutters, they move in four steps starting at 190deg.F to 213deg.F or 6deg's per step. Most of my testing was done at 70mph were they went from closed to fully opened and back down. The shutters operate off the AC being on not the vent. I'm sure someone can try it out. Plus 3 do you notice any MPG improvement at 89deg.F over 80 or 70deg.F? What kind of WT are you seeing Max? -
Get a ScanGauge it reads out instantaneous MPG's digitally.

All I had was live video no recording on my laptop. -
You aren't using my Grill Covers which should give about 4mpg in that temp range.
