It only takes a couple of minutes to drill out plastic rivets and you can always reinstall with sheet metal screws in a couple of minutes. It sounds like we need to add a couple more tabs at the corners to hold them down better.

I have similar problems with my phone and they want to blame it on my phone. And I recently up dated my IPhone 3 program and It still does it. Most recently did on my trip and it wouldn't connect and I couldn't find anything wrong. Three hours later it connected.

Would you buy the CMax if the advertised MPG was below 47/47?
ptjones replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
Your numbers will improve with time. I just got back from 5.5k trip and averaged 42.6MPG with temps from 28-73deg.F. You need to show your Fuelly.com numbers. This summer you should be able to get close to 47mpg city driving. I'm getting in the low 50's most of the time in 35-50mph city driving now, maybe 60mpg this summer. . -
It is sure odd that Ford is pushing the speed/MPG when the only reasonable reason is for temp control of ICE. My Grill Covers do a much better job although there not automatic.
-
There is no temp limitation, you get three Grill Covers two for center grill and one for below. At around 60deg.F driving on the fwy I go to cut out Grill Cover to allow air flow to radiator. If you need to use AC remove bottom Grill Cover and store on back of rear seat with Velcro tabs. You can use Full Grill Covers in City driving all year around until you need AC then install Cut Out Grill Cover and remove low Grill Cover. Go to my gallery to see Pics and Info.

I have not tested anything besides CMAX but hope to check out FFH in near future. When I did my test I started with cool ICE and drove onto fwy to 70mph before ICE warmed up. At 190deg.F shutters opened 1/4 and kept on opening in 1/4 steps to fully open at 213deg.F. You could see them changing with temp change. The shutters open when you turn on AC and fan also. This has nothing to do with speed.

Probably 11,500mi and I just changed oil at ford at 9k mi. I haven't had a problem sense although I haven't floored it and that was my long distance record tank. I will put trip pic on here when I figure it out tomorrow. I should check my oil level to be safe.

You could mount on Grill Cover and improve your MPG's. :)

Last week I drove 5500mi and averaged approx. 42.6mpg for the trip with good and bad weather. I had a high of 48mpg and low of 37mpg in 9 fill-ups. You check me out on fuelly.com. Click on icon below. I used alot of manual cruise, but when I got tried I would set ECO cruise for 63mph(mine will EV at 63mph GPS) and get 44-47mpg. Your mileage goes down fast above 69mph. My average fill-up distance was over 500mi. with high of 623mi. I currently have 14k miles on my SEL. Have fun. :)

With 14k miles things are going to just happen. All good so far. :) It would be nice to know how much my tank holds.

On my long trip I had rain coming back. I went from 44mpg to 37mpg in the rain, wind and no drafting at 60mph. I hit 3-4 puddles with one tire and almost jerked steering wheel out of my hands at night Too. That will sure wake you up. I slowed down to 59mph after that and truckers still go by and destroy your visability.

Something odd is going on here, I don't see the point of miss information. BTW on my trip to SF and back I tried to determine if there is any difference in MPG at 206deg.F vs 213deg.F and couldn't tell. Do you think with your laptop you could tell? Maybe come up a curve for optimum MPG vs temp.

Thanks Bob999! Worked like a charm!

Does anyone know how to reset oil change message?

My trip gauge had 616.4mi,282.2EV,48.6mpg and 12.67gal. VS actual 623.8mi,13.35gal and 46.2mpg. I know I don't want to go past 12.5gal on trip gauge and I wasn't trying for new record it just worked out that way. It was either Needles +.30/gal vs Lake Havasu turn off 20mi farther and I was using EV for all it was worth. I need to get small gas can for trips, just in case. :)

I don't know what FORD is doing, but I connected a camera to my laptop and put it in grill opening when I was testing my Grill Covers. The shutters are controlled by temp not speed. They start to open at 190deg.F and are fully open at 213deg.F and the fan comes on at 215deg.F. Your shutters are always closed in city driving unless you are using AC. Having a ScanGauge is useful in determine these functions. The aerodynamic benefit for the shutters is minimal at best because they open up when going fast when they need to be closed. That is why my Grill Covers improve MPG by 2mpg at 70mph.

I was sweating it a little, I went about 5mi past 0miles to empty. I wonder if anyone has run out of fuel and how many gal. they put in their tank? Walmart has some new gas cans with safety valve but I nor store clerk could figure out how to work it so I gave up. BTW I found out you can get up to a gallon difference in a fill up by how level your car is. Also I found out that when the battery is 80%plus full, If you get throttle just right you can have no pointer on battery up or down. I could do this up to 15sec. I had a weird thing happen on SF fwy in heavy traffic merging onto the fwy squeezing me out. I had to slam on my brakes to slow down to get in an opening next lane over and then floor it to merge. When I did a big white cloud of smoke came out of my tail pipe. I was only on the gas for 3sec. I haven't had anymore issues since.

I just made a trip to San Francisco and back this past week, 5500mi , 9 fill ups. I have new record 623.8mi on 13.35g and 46.2MPG averaging 60-65mph. I also had new record 48MPG on 537mi average 60 mph on 11.18gal. I will elaborate later when I have some time.

I wonder if anyone has had a flat tire yet.
-
I saw .25 cents in 1969, that's scary.
-
I think 700mi is doable in Hybrid, we will see this spring.

Did you correct for your odometer being off around 1.5%? You might try our grill cover set 2-4 mpg gain. Brochure C-Max Grill Cover Set.pdf
-
You guys could be be gaining 2-5MPG's with Grill Covers. Check out 3 MPG Gain with Grill Cover threads in Mileage forum, everyone that has tried them has seen at least 2mpg and up to 6mpg.
-
It would appear that my 1.44 is the lowest so far of members commenting so far. I have 9k now but when I first checked it was off by 1.5%. I just think it is off to far not to adjust it. One cover member said he's off by one MPG. Thanks for the comment. Paul

I thought about it and in your case it's .5mpg so it's not a big deal, but the CMAX has been getting bad press and anything we can do to put a more positive light is a good thing. Fuelly would go from 37.8 to 38.3mpg not great but good improvement.
